I love this because also when monsters refer to death they dont say 'they died" they say "they fell down" and if that's not foreshadowing that frisk is dead then I don't know what it is.

Exactly! Toriel even explicitly states "You've fallen down" at the beginning of the game. The state of "fallen down" is a monster going into a coma for a while before they eventually turn to dust. I've wondered if that was to say the same thing happened with Frisk: that Frisk's experience in the Underground is a coma-dream and coming back up to the surface could either be Frisk waking up or crossing over to the afterlife.

Okay, first things first, chill out on the username m8-second, some of your statement is true, but they originally didn't want to kill everyone. They killed themselves to free monsters, NOT to kill monsters.

Chara is a misunderstood character who wanted to help the monsters. Chara is also a “escape-goat” for the player to use during the genocide run. At the end of the genocide run Chara appears and judges the player for the path they took and asks the player if they want to erase the time line and what you wanted. If you chose the do not erase. She will ask you did you do this for fun or power. And if you don’t chose any one of those options. She will ask what the point is then she kills you not the whole world in my opinion I don’t see Chara as a bad guy but a miss understood character I think depending on the players path will determine the ninth circle of hell.

Chara is not the bad guy. The player is. We just blame Chara for our choice to kill everyone. She never wanted to kill monsters. We made her do it. If we try to make up things by playing pacifist, she will remind us about our actions in the past run. It's all players fault, not her. She's just doing what player showed her : destroying everything.

Iemand She hated humans because they abused her. They drove her to suicide and she climbed up the mountin to commit it but failed and was found by Asriel. Asriel says in pacifist run that she didn't have good intentions when climbing up the mountain. She wanted to free monsters and killed herself so Asriel could go to the other side and collect 6 human souls to break the barrier. All she wanted was to free them, but the plan failed and when she shows up at the end of genocide run, she explains how confused she was when Frisk fell on her grave. She didn't know why she was brought back to life but Frisk's (player's) actions showed her. What connected her to Frisk was the determination, she could not escape from it. The only choice she had was to follow Frisk and help him/her.

I feel like chara shouldn’t be the one that is in the treachery part, I think that the player or I guess “Frisk” (because you play as them) should be the one. That’s because it was the player who killed everyone, not chara.

Unless you take the geno route, then you get a huge jumpscare that gives most kids nightmares.
THEN, when you try to fix everything, you get a worse ending. Word of advice, do a neutral run after doing a geno, not a pacifist.

Um, one thing, so you blame Chara for destroying the world in the genocide run? What did you expect when you intentionally went out of your way to kill EVERYTHING? "Boy, murder sure is fun! I'm sure there will be no consequence to this whatsoever!"
A thing to note about Chara's plan is that:
1. they are literally a child and have no idea about anything
2. a monster has never absorbed a human soul, so Chara and Asriel definitely didn't know what would happen, they just knew they'd be powerful and that they could free monsters.
So Chara's entire plan was to poison themselves, let Asriel take their soul, have Asriel kill 6 more humans and free monsters, right? And Asriel agreed. They didn't want to intentionally wage war! Some think that Chara was playing along and pretending to love the Dreemurrs, but if that's true they could've just killed a Dreemurr, took their soul and fulfilled their plan. (Because the Dreemurrs are all "boss monsters" this would work)
The only person Chara killed was themselves.
1: Children are not necessarily stupid, they are merely naive. Chara is neither stupid nor naive, and you can easily pick this up from their vast knowledge of the Underground and expansive vocabulary. Their speech pattern hints at a very stiff/formal person or at the very least, a mature person. Chara does not "have no idea about anything".
2: A monster HAS absorbed a human soul before, just not in the past war. In the plaques in Waterfall, there's a picture of a creature, implied to be a monster that absorbed a human soul. There is no way for this to be Asriel and Chara, as their transformation had mostly happened on the Surface, and they died soon after returning to the Underground. It's actually pretty common knowledge in the Underground that monsters can absorb human souls, as the plaques describe it as a human's "weakness". Therefore, it's very likely that Chara and Asriel knew that if Asriel absorbed Chara's soul, they would transform into a mighty being with unfathomable power.
I doubt that if *Asriel* knew killing six humans would cause a war, Chara wouldn't. At this point, they're literally sharing a body and likely sharing thoughts. Asriel stopped Chara because he knew if the two of them murdered six humans, they'd be sending the monsters into a war the now few monsters can't win. As for why Chara didn't simply kill the Dreemurrs; there's no way of knowing if Chara could absorb a soul. While a monster *has* absorbed a human's soul before, it hasn't happened the other way around, as most monsters' souls cannot persist after death. And Chara is a *child* and likely a weak one at that. The Dreemurrs are huge, powerful monsters. Do you think Chara would stand a chance?
And about that... well. Chara did technically rope Asriel into a situation he couldn't survive. They also kill sans for you. And murder Asgore in cold blood. And then proceed to torture their brother to death. And if you refuse to cooperate with them, they also kill you.

When you spare Snowdrake in a Genocide Run (Snowdrake triggers the "that comedian" text, not sans), they simply say, "The comedian got away. Failure." They also _force_ the player to give up their soul and to destroy the world. You wouldn't do this to someone you "look up" to.
Chara also never gets angry, so I don't see where you're getting the "rage of undyne" from.

I have a theory that Frisk is dead, not because they're in hell but because Frisk is literally a walking dead corpse brought to life by Flowey's determination to see his fallen friend again (even when Flowey himself is not aware that is what he desires most). The body is Chara's, and through a genocide run, your own determination awakens Chara's memory and Chara is able to regain control of their body, which is why the "choice was never yours" to begin with. In this theory, YOU are the one possessing Chara's body, and it's because of your actions that decide weather chara is awakened to the violence or is redeemed into Frisk.

There is no complete understanding of how souls or determination truly work, this is after all only a theory. What we do know about determination is that human souls contain more of it due to human bodies being made out of more physical matter; determination can revert death; most importantly, it can revert time.
Determination may also be the embodiment of 'the will to live' however that phase itself is simply Flowey's theory of what determination is.

There is an older comment i answered to (why Frisk is in hell). Goes like that... I think that the player is actually Frisk because Chara killed the player in the genocide run. Also the game motivates you to start a genocide run first (flowey saying "In this world is kill or be killed"). So, as you helped Chara become the way she is, you go to hell... Hope that explains it :)

An interesting idea for a premise for characters but I'm not totally convinced. Too much of the plot gets in the way of this. I can agree thats how the characters were made and given personality, but I need more to connect all three stories into Dante's Inferno. I can't imagine Pacifist Frisk being in hell anywhere past Limbo, at worse.
+Corey M Remember that the Divine Comedy is a trilogy starting in hell and ending in heaven. The pacifist run may make more sense than you think.

And chara isnt a very inportant, heck even monster kid is a more inportant character than Chara! I don't mean to offend you, but there is too many things in the way for this theory to be real.
Actually, Chara is a very important character although not having that much screen time.
Chara's the reason why Asriel became Flowey, Goat dad and Goat mom got seperated, and pretty much making Asgore kill children just to keep the whole Underground's hope.

I can agree that Undertale is inspired by Dante's inferno, but I don't think that has to mean that it's a direct retelling where the underground is literally hell. I feel that Toby wanted to make something original, even if inspired.
There is not a single blameless character in undertale, but undertale is not a game of punishment for these sins, not unless the player themselves commit them. Instead, Undertale is a game about a world where people realize they aren't perfect, but find ways to make life go on anyway. This theme is established as early as Snowdin where people around town talk about how they realize life is pretty crappy in the underground, but they find ways to smile and enjoy life while it lasts, never giving up hope.
Rather than hell, I feel that the underground is meant to parallel our own surface world. The whole point is that the monsters aren't really monsters at all, they are people just like us and share the same problems in life as we do. They are a metaphor of humanity as seen from the perspective of Toby.
Toriel knows that she has done wrong by failing to protect her own child and desires to redeem herself by protecting any who fall down into the underground.
Papyrus desires fame, popularity and admiration, but will put all of that aside in the name of friendship. Truthfully, all he wants is friends, and has a skewed perspective how to make friends.
Sans has a twisted but strict morality code. He has the power to protect others, but he's also overpowered, and likely fears that he would kill due to his inability to be merciful in a battle. His moral code prevents him from killing unless it's absolutely necessary. He is also only so lazy because he knows so much more than everyone else. He knows that no matter what he does, it's just going to get reset. This gives him a feeling of hopelessness and pointlessness that prevents him from putting much effort into much of anything.
Undyne has an even more twisted moral code, refusing to either give or receive mercy when she has her mind made up of what's right and wrong. She trusts and believes in Asgore's plan, and her faith never wavers until mercy is forced upon her. overall, she really doesn't want to kill you or anyone else. She just needs to be proven that you aren't the bad guy she has made you out to be.
Alphys has told a lot of lies. She forced herself into a position of being the hero of Frisk's story through lies and manipulation. She lied about her experiments, she lied about humans to Undyne. She eventually decides that she can't go on living like this and decides to redeem herself through truthfulness.
Mettaton wants nothing less than to be the biggest, brightest superstar in all of entertainment. He wants fame, he wants ratings, he wants to be popular beyond popularity. However, more than that, he wants to make others happy through his performances. When he realizes that his actions will lead to a miserable underground, he changes his mind and decides to stay for all of their sake, unwilling to break their hearts.
Asgore has killed unjustly. A lot. He knows somewhere deep inside that what he is doing is wrong, but the hope and inspiration it brings to the rest of the underground makes him feel like he has no choice but to continue this bloodbath. Ultimately deep inside, he hates doing this. He doesn't want to kill anyone. He is desperate for an excuse to stop, to just live with his wife and child again. Part of him is overjoyed when Torial appears to stop him in the pacifist run, he finally has the excuse he has been looking for to put an end to his old plan.
Asriel/Flowey goes mad with power and abuses it in an attempt to force his will and desires on the world. In the end, he is really little more than a kid having a temper tantrum. Even with the power of a god, he is unwilling to fully kill Frisk. His final attack although it looks as though it gains intensity actually does less and less damage as it goes on, showing that his will to harm you is failing him. Ultimately, all he wants is friendship, much like Papyrus. All of this has just been a game to him, in his desire to be reunited with his first and only friend up to that point.
Chara is a special case among the other characters. Chara cannot be saved, even temporarily. Chara embodies all of the sins of the other characters, all of the knowledge, all of the power. Chara chooses a path that defies redemption. Indeed, Chara doesn't want redemption at all. There is no other character in the game so full of malice and hate. Even Flowey, who usually cannot feel emotions, feels genuine fear when they realize just how insane Chara is.
And then there is one more character. Gaster. We never truly meet Gaster. His intentions, his mindset and desires, it's all a mystery. Whether he is evil like Chara or something else, we might never fully know. All that we know is that he is always watching, observing, but never acting or manipulating. He could easily be the most neutral character in the game, appearing neither when the world is about to be destroyed or the monsters rescued from their underground prison.
Ultimately, despite their flaws, most characters are capable of being spared and redeeming themselves. The game seems to be trying to deliver the message that although they aren't perfect, most of the characters aren't eternally damned for their sins either.

I am sorry, but I do not believe that Chara, a child not even 10 years old most likely, can be a being of 'Greater evil' or with 'a malicious plan', they are just a kid, as I have said, and would most likely not even think of this. I strongly argue that Chara had good intent, and their plan went wrong. They wanted to simply let Asriel see the sun and stars, not start some war like the world's biggest con artist! You should look at Chara's dialogue itself instead of simply going off of speculation.

Anything beyond that is mere speculation.

Frisk get a lot of EXP and LOVE and all of this awakened the Chara we all know. Asriel says Chara isn't maybe a good person but he never says Chara is bad too. And I don't think a child can plan to kill...
Chara is extremely evil, player(Frisk) as you said CAN be evil, but only if you select Genocide and maybe in the neutral run, depending if you decide to kill or not to kill as often as others, but, Chara was a monster from the start, if you read into it, you will find that Chara HAS killed humans before they attempted into giving their soul to Asriel, in fact, way before he even fell into the 'underground.' Which speaking of that, THEIR SOUL PURPOSE OF GOING TO THE HUMAN WORLD WAS TO HAVE THEMSELF KILLED IN ATTEMPT TO TAKE OVER ASRIEL'S BODY AND BASICALLY KILL HUMANS AND MONSTERS ALIKE, but it turns that after dying, the humans thought poor Asriel killed Chara, and they killed him. Now looking into this, Chara is basically a Genocide run them self. Their goal has always been one thing: MURDER. And FRISK actually has a choice weather to be good or evil, Chara simply wanted to kill everyone not caring about friendships or so on.
