Don't remember the technical term, but orange peel finish is just designed to retain lubricant for stamping as opposed to the mill finish on the exterior.
That door is as empty as the ones on my 1970 Mercury Marquis convertible, which has no reinforcements inside, yet the CT meets side crash standards and my Mercury meets nothing.
I thought all of the inner panels were aluminum? Toss a magnet on the door inner and find out. Maybe different panels differ, but I thought for sure the Frunk hood inner was aluminum... Hummm 🤔
The inner is not the same steel. It is more ductile, hence the stamped part.

Happy I stumbled upon your channel. Great content!
I was under the impression that the door inner was not stainless steel?
The inner is regular mild steel.
@@oisiaa The inner is stainless too, it is pressed at very high temperature to allow it to form
Could you do a tensile test on the stainless steel exoskeleton?
Really want to see how strong their custom alloy is.

Yeah basically exoskeleton. They truly use thick outside ss for rigidity.
Incredible! Absolutely amazing. If I could afford one, I'd most certainly purchase a Cybertruck.
Please more CyberTruck.
Great video! Can you detail the upper V trim, how is it mounted, can it drive without it, water leak, etc. Thanks
There’s vids of double sided tape with bolts on leading edge .
A bolt…
In this and other panrls, how is the outer SS fixed to the inner?
neat!
What's the thickness of the stainless door inner? I also don't think it's the same 30X used for the outer.
@@1943vermork I clearly said the inner... I'm well aware of the thickness of the outer.
Door skins are 1.8mm. All other panels are 1.4mm thick.
@@boostav ok Karen
Looks like a Hobart commercial dishwasher door.

SpaceX uses common 304 grade SS on starship! Better cryogenic performance.
30X just means that it is not a standardised but proprietar alloy.
A SS outer skin married to a SS inner skin. This has to be a first in the automotive industry.
