In Vinnie's defense, he's done 3 or 4 things since "All Systems Go" - he wrote with KISS for "Revenge" (4 songs: 2 singles, 1 album cut, & 1 demo), he released the "Euphoria" EP made up of 4 tunes that were from "Guitarmageddon", and released the "Speedball Jam" archive CD (the last 2 were released independently and for exorbitant prices). He also did a lot of appearances around 1995 at European KISS expos. But you guys are right in that he's not done any albums or performance tours.
And "Guitarmageddon" was recorded in like 1991 or 92. It's been in the can for 30 years.
I personally prefer the first VVI record over all of it. I like the songs. I know Mark didn't sing on it, but Robert is (still to this day) a really great singer. "Stick it to ya" maybe second.

Both albums are great, in my opinion. Tim Kelly's style of playing was way different than VV. Stick it to Ya, has Mark singing more of a different vibe than he did when he was in Invasion. He was more aggressive sounding with Invasion.

There were a couple remasters of All Systems Go. The first one was released by Zoom Club in 2001. It has the full 5:35 version of "Love Kills", but no bonus tracks.
The 2nd remaster was released by Chysalis/Capitol in 2003. It has the bonus tracks "The Meltdown" and "Ya Know I'm Pretty Shot", but the version of "Love Kills" is edited down to 4:38. The solo was shortened and the lines "loves dying sin is just dust in the wind. I face the other side of no tomorrow" are removed along with a couple lines from the first verse.
As far as I'm aware, both remasters along with the original have the Star Spangled Banner intro to Let Freedom Rock.
That said, I lean towards Vinnie Vincent here. Personally, I'm not a fan of "Naughty Naughty". I like ballads better than the ones on Stick It To Ya and the rockers I feel have more energy. Then again, it could be because I always tend towards the underdog.

Good to see Jeremy back for another awesome episode! Between the two albums, I have to go with "Stick It to Ya," but I really like "All Systems Go" too. I personally just think the Slaughter album has more classic songs. Either way, you can't go wrong with either album, and it was cool hearing both of your perspectives. I look forward to more of these "versus" videos!

All Systems Go i remember not liking when i first heard it but no recollection on why that was. Been god knows how long since i heard it so its time to listen to it, study it and give it a actual opinion. I have to go with Slaughter on this one. Fly To The Angels is one of my favorite ballads. SLAUGHTER RULEZ

I was in my favorite record store at my now demolished mall . It was the Record Bar . They had a wicked stereo set up , with big ass Harmon Kardon house speakers in all 4 corners of the relatively small store . They would have a now playing marque thing .. I was in there the day they cranked Stick It To Ya .. it was what a 12 year old kid wanted . Hot broad on cover , and just hooks like a tackle box . I dug the Wild Life as well .

'All Systems Go' is a great album. I remember buying it when I was still in high school. I already had the self-titled debut since I've always been a big fan of guitar so when the follow-up came I got it right away. I was initially a little disappointed since I was expecting another heavy guitar-based record, but I grew to love it after a few listens due to the melodic tracks. Regarding the ballads 'Love Kills' and 'That Time of Year' are my favorites. 'Ectsacy''s beginning is kind of cringy for me, but once it gets going it's fine. With all of this being said I love Slaughter as well. Slaughter is the better band overall since they continued putting out great albums over the years. I played the heck out of 'Stick It To You' when it was new. The acoustic 'Fly to the Angels' that focuses on Mark's voice is outstanding. I actually listen to the later albums more now though than the debut since I prefer them. A lot of people don't like the 'Revolution' album but it's still really good if you give it a chance. The ballads are really good. 'Heaven It Cries' actually features a Bible verse from the book of Isaiah which is really cool. 'Can We Find a Way' is really melodic and catchy.

Anything Slaughter did was a million times better than anything Vinnie Vincent ever did. The fact they shared band members is the only connection they have. Vinnie was an overrated guitar player. I play guitar too and Vinnie was a good player and songwriter sure but top 5 80’s band guitarist? Not even close. Vito Bratta, Warren Demartini, George Lynch, Mick Mars, Snake Sorbo, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Reb Beech, John Sykes, and Tracii Guns are all better and that’s off the top of my head.

I absolutely loved Vinnie's contributions to KISS, and I absolutely loved the first VVI album - it makes my top 50 albums of al time. So OTT. I was disappointed in the follow up - a few good songs but not enough guitar!!! The Slaughter album, I enjoyed at the time but have fallen out with it since. Its average at best. And I'm not a fan of Slaughter's voice at all. I do like the ballads on ASG, but it needed better songs around them. There are a few I love but most aren't memorable enough and I think that's down to the production and lack of mental guitar. Vinnie was obviously trying to be respected more as a guitarist.

  • @Ratsnake71
    @Ratsnake71 หลายเดือนก่อน

I haven’t listened to Stick It To Ya since the 90s . Mark is not my favorite singer… I can take him is small doses. I’ve never heard much of VVI. I listened to both albums a few times. Stick It To Ya is much better than I remember and I had a blast listening to it. It is the superior album. The songs are soooo much better. As a guitar player, I think that Tim Kelly was meh as far as lead breaks go, but a good song doesn’t have to have guitar gymnastics.
Now, VVI . Well….it starts off good . Ashes to Ashes is great opener. Burn is good and so is Love Kills. Let Freedom Rock is fun, but that’s about it for me… the other songs are weak.
As far as VV’s playing goes, he can definitely shred, but I’m not sure that his solos really served the songs. A lot of it was noise. If a want to hear a flurry of notes done well, there’s Roni LeTekro of TNT.
Anthony, I have to agree that the lovey dovy shit had worn out its welcome fast.

True, Vinnie Vincent Invasion was not a very successfull but I think it is unique what he achieved with this band. Let's name guitar players who had played in successfull bands left the band start thier own band and had success. Only Richie Blackmore in the last 50 years.. John Sykes for one album with Blue Murder? Maybe. Dave Mustaine and Yngwie Malmsteen could be they have a bit different story. Not so many.

  • @seanlandonclarke

I can explain why they released two ballads and didn't follow the formula of rock song first, then ballad. They were going to release Ashes to Ashes as the first single, but Kingdom Come released "Get It On" just before and Kingdom Come started getting heat that they were a Led Zep rip off... the label decided not to release Ashes to Ashes because "Get It On" was already out and the label was worried that VV would be seen not only as another Led Zep rip off, but a Kingdom Come knock off because of the Zep influence that can be heard on that track. Vinnie talked about this in an interview and apparently he went ballistic over this. He said he thought the album failed, partly, because they didn't release Ashes to Ashes first.

Up All Night and Fly to the Angels were played out for me after about two weeks in 1990. I was off the Slaughter bandwagon not long after that. Mark's falsetto killed the band for me. I prefer Robert Fleischman over Mark so All Systems Go isn't even my favorite VVI album.

As a guitar player, I have to disagree strongly that VV is a top 5 virtuoso. I can name 20 guitar players off the top of my head better than him. All he is is fast. He may be one of the fastest, but his solos are just diarrhea that are fast as possible for the sake of being fast. Most sound terrible with zero direction or any real composition. . He's a great song writer, can fly on the fret board, but one of the worst guitar-solo writers ever in metal… and his lead tone sucked. For a guy obsessed with his solos, you’d think he would have listened to his own lead tone and realized it sounded like a dull razor blade against a trash can llid.
