I prefer my original 3ds just because it is so easy to carry! I have a wii u as well and both get chosen over my switch any day. I like what the switch is and how creative an idea it was though.

I went from the Switch to the Switch Lite then back to the Switch, but want a Switch Lite again as it’s by far the better design. Really well made. But I also think something like the Gameboy Pocket is an ultimate small portable retro machine.

I am risking making this comment 16 months later, but the reason you were asked to verify your eligibility to play the games is likely because your Lite is not set to be your Primary console. Primary doesn't get those checks. Love your content, and your presentation style is top-notch. I'm making my way through alot of your older stuff now. Great channel!
Thanks for watching! These older videos are a little rough. As for the primary console, I do set my Lite as my primary before I leave my house. Even the primary console has to check in every week to verify that you've paid for the service. It was absolutely my fault that I got that message. I should have checked in before I left. That still doesn't change the fact that I don't care for the checking in process.

I don't know if this will help you're situation, but I would suggest setting the Switch Lite as the primary console for "on-the-go," and the docked Switch as the secondary console. The primary console doesn't need to "check-in" in order to play downloaded games. The only downside to this is you can't play the same game simulteously on both consoles. So, if you're on the plane playing Link's Awakening (downloaded version) on the primary console (Switch Lite) and someone at home wants to play it on the secondary Switch, they won't be able to.
To me it sounded like his complaint was more so about the Nintendo Switch Online service that you subscribe to, I think you have to be online to connect to the games on there regardless of whether you're using your primary or secondary console. But this is great advice for people who just buy games from the Nintendo eshop.

I just got the black/grey new 3ds xl for around $200 on Facebook marketplace and I love it! I'm definitely looking forward to the new blue switch lite coming out this May I will definitely buy it when I can afford it :)
I did go wrong with the switch so i ended up selling it to buy more Wii U titles and upgrade from a regular 2DS to a new 3DS as well as getting minecraft for it(with some additional money i had before the sell)

I prefer the 3ds simply for being a true handheld. Fits into most pockets and protects the screens. Game library is just insane. My 3ds xl stick recently was giving me some troubles. Currently trying to fix it but if I cant, I will buy a new 3ds xl. They are still not too expensive so get them now boys!
I really like the 3DS! I used one heavily for 7 years. I think both the 3DS and the Switch Lite both have their strengths and weaknesses. But there's no denying that the 3DS is easier to carry around. Also, like you said, they are super affordable right now!
@@JamesThomas-tu6ix They havent produced the new 3ds line in years, so of course you wont find a new one. New 3ds very rarely come with better IPS screens intead of the cheap TN screen. So you actually dont even want to buy a new one.
Ludwig Erdinger I’d sacrifice the IPS screen for the better build quality and bigger screen tbh. I really only want one for the game selection, not the picture quality.
I think the reason the regular switch doesn’t have a D pad is because the joy cons can be used as two separate controllers. If someone were to play super smash brothers and have the joy con with the D pad instead of the buttons, I might feel awkward trying to play.
I'm not bothered by the size. I rarely use it on the train because in the morning I'm sleeping and in the evening I don't want to game on such a small device.
I've been watching some of your videos. Only criticism is that your music is too loud making it hard to hear you. Otherwise you've gained a loyal subscriber.

For 6:12 - isn't that for multiplayer on the go though? 2 players on the portable switch screen with someone else. The screen will be pretty small, but still cool to play with another on games like mario kart or fighting ones when out and about. 🧐
It’s definitely a cool feature! I like how versatile the Switch is. What I was saying is, I’ve never seen anybody use the Joy Cons like that and I’ve never played a game that way. So the D-pad on the Switch Lite makes more sense for my style of play.
I know I'm jumping in 10 months late but apparently I'm the one person that uses the separate joy cons. They're perfect for when I play with my niece and it saves me having to buy a second controller since I usually play by myself or online

I used to travel a lot on the train with my cuz and always took my gameboy to link up to his, then later on I had the Genesis Nomad and you can stick a second controller onto it. The screen is tiny, but still great, hahaha! Golden Axe and Street Fighter 2 were some of the greatest games back then! Hardly travel nowadays, if only I had a Switch then! 🤓

You can't go wrong with either. If you got a Switch Lite you can play all the games you have for the Switch. If you get a 3DS, you'll need to get a whole new library of games. Maybe that's worth staying within the Switch family. Though I'm a huge fan of the 3DS.

At 4:12 when he says “a drawback to this is that if I lose my Switch Lite, I lose my games at home as well”. Can somebody explain this to me? What if we have a regular Switch at home (as a secondary device)? Would the games still be lost?
I made this video quite a while ago. If you lose a Switch with digital games, you can redownload them on your secondary Switch. What I was meant to convey is that the Switch is both a portables and a home console. I also mainly play physical games. So if I lose my Switch Lite, I’m losing my portable and home console games because I brought them with me.
I finnaly found a good deal on a switch lite. I really like it, but still love my 3ds xl, and usually take it on trips. Mostly because i have it "customized" and I have a ton of games on it without the need of cartridges, and those are all games I play without need of wifi. The games I play the most on my Switch are Mariokart 8 and Rocket league, both of which are better with wifi, both can be played without it so thats not a complete deal breaker. I guess the slightly smaller form factor of the 3ds xl, and the fact it clamshells which makes me feel safer carrying it around. But I think the Switch lite will be going with me some in the near future.
I have a switch lite and I love it it's basically to me handheld home console but I still want to get a 3D XL just so I can play games like Omega Ruby and alpha Sapphire soul silver Kirby squeak squad and tons of other DS and 3DS games that I miss from my childhood
Both are fantastic! I know these videos are mean to compare and make a judgement on which one is better, but in all honesty I like them both! They have two different game libraries which makes it relevant to own both.

I see where it has its uses. The Switch is quite versatile with the removable joy cons that can be used on their sides. For me personally, I mainly use the Switch as a single player handheld and prefer the traditional D-pad for games that were designed with it in mind. Though, I respect your opinion and I'm glad you shared it.

I have a switch and 3DS XL i play the 3ds more... the selection of games is more to my liking but I'm sure the switch will catch up eventually but it still wont make the 3ds irrelevant
i own a New 3ds xl now ( homebrew ) with 128gb memory and like 50 games on it but i am thinking about to change it for Switch Lite system because it newish , better graphics and bigger screan...but i ma not sure if its worth it even...?
Both are really great consoles. The Switch Lite is current, so it still has games being made for it. The 3DS has a huge catalog of really games, which I'm sure you're aware of. You can't go wrong with either one. I play both of mine all the time.

Just make sure you bring your charging cord for your switch lite or you won’t get far on battery. The 3ds is a great system and so is the Wii U… Edit: the switch lite is a good option for on the go, but the 3ds is a primary choice for me because of it’s huge library and clamshell design. The clamshell design not only protects it but has a really innovative game style.
You nailed it with this comment. You'll need to bring a charger if you play anything that pushes the Switch like Breath of the Wild. The 3DS has great battery life. I bought a 3DS usb charging cable years ago to use while traveling. I've never plugged it in. It still has the twist tie around it that it shipped with. I too like the clamshell design and the amazing library of games it has.
But then if you end up somewhere without an outlet then your out of luck. Where the 3ds can hold a charge until you get past the place without an outlet.
I feel like the 3ds battery is infinite even tho it’s not. I left my 3ds on for 2 days because I forgot and when I came back it was still on. I feel like not many consoles have good battery life nowadays. The 3ds can slip into my pocket while I go to the mall and collect street pass. It’ll still have a charge even when I get home.
Awesome! Do you like to play games on your TV? If so, get the standard Switch. If you're only interested in portable play, go with the Switch Lite. I made a video comparing them if that helps.
It can be arguable but when you think about it being able to take full on console games on the go is a plus like being able to play Doom let's go Pikachu Mario Odyssey Zelda breath of the wild Wolfenstein dragon Ball xenoverse 2 SpongeBob rehydrated donkey Kong zombie army assassin's Creed I think that's more impressive but don't get me wrong the DS has a great library but I feel like that's because it's been around longer wait until the Nintendo switch builds up its library cuz even right now it has a decent library so imagine when it's old is the DS
@@taqnl That, but also some people just prefer the library or form factor of the 3DS line, not to mention the fact that you don't have to worry about your 3DS getting drift within 3 months of moderate amounts of usage.

I usually stick to the well known games: The Legend of Zelda - A Link Between Worlds, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Mario Kart 7, Metroid - Samas Returns, and Mario 3D Land. There's so many great games on the 3DS to play.
Another awesome video! Nintendo Handhelds are great. My son has the New Nintendo 2DS and the New Nintendo 3DS and I have the Switch, a GBA SP, and Virtual Boy. Lol. We are covered on all front.
My New 3dsXl with cfw has gba, ds, 3ds, nes, snes games all on it. I could play this one console from now on and never play all of the games on it to completion or boredom. I do still want a switch and im not sure why lol I mean I still have a bunch of games I need to play from the old consoles. I think I want it for Mariokart 8 Deluxe, which I still play MK8 on my Wii U regularly, and for Mariokart 9 or whatever they call the one that comes out for the switch. Mk always gives me a reason to buy Nintendo consoles. Ps, with my cfw, I dont have to "check in" to play any of them, thats ridiculous.
Nice! I love the 3ds handhelds! I’ve never modded any of them though. I’ve always been straight laced when it comes to my Nintendo consoles. I’m also a big Mario Kart fan! I wouldn’t hesitate recommending a Switch to anybody. I absolutely love both of mine! I’m also a big supporter of the Wii U, and I’d still recommend a Switch. Not only is it convenient, being a handheld and home console, but you also have access to current games.
Yep, CFW is the way to go with the 3DS, as it is on the Wii and Wii U also. CFW completely changes the range of options and flexibility of the consoles and frees you from Nintendo's "walled garden". The first version Switch (non-Mariko version) is also great on CFW. If you're going fully legit with Nintendo consoles, it will cost a lot of money. Are the majority of those games really worth their price? Not in my opinion. Is the online subscription really worth the price to play a limited selection on VC games when you can have the entire back catalog available through roms? Not even close.
I don't think we're getting a new Mario Kart for this generation of Switch. It's possible, though, that they will soon release a new console that's similar to the Switch and release a new Mario Kart for it shortly after. But if you enjoy Mario Kart 8 a lot, I think it's definitely still worth getting a Switch. You can get one used pretty cheap, then you'll have more money to spend on the deluxe version of the game and DLC booster pass for all the extra tracks they added throughout the years!
@Jereh Newcombe, sure i own a switch, not the switch lite. But i like the 3ds expirience better, i like the themes, the 3d, it's internet capabilitys, the free online play and its more compact foldable form.
Too bad the new 3DS and new 2DS are going for $300+. The prices even for used ones on ebay are insane. The switch lite is the obvious choice now but I'm glad I picked up a new 3DS XL recently.
I think I'll play 3ds games on laptop and buy switch since I'm not the type to go that much and now only thing is to wait for my birthday so I can ask my parents to buy me one...
switch lite is good but i still like the 3ds it saves money you dont need internet really and you can keep privacy i still have a dsi xl but i dont use it so i think the 3ds is best still even though the switch has better quality also to switch dpesnt have hr feature to play ds games which i personality love ds games
The 3DS has been my go to handheld for about 9 years. I still play it regularly. Though I really like my Switch Lite! I've been playing it more and more.

That is the main reason why I haven't picked one up. It look very cumbersome. Also, the battery life isn't all that great from what I've heard. I might as well just play on my laptop.
The 3ds battery can be replaced fairly easily. Just like my WII U. When your battery dies on switch lite I believe you just throw it in the trash. we all know and understand phone batteries and all electronic devices suffer from battery diminishment

I absolutely love the 3ds, so much more fun to collect for than the switch IMO I have like 8 3ds/2ds and only a switch and switch lite. With all that said the switch really poops on the 3ds imo when it comes to more mature titles, it can play so many resident evil games, Metro 2033, and especially one of my favorite games of all time Alien Isolation. Trust me I love my 3Ds’s to bits tho but I’m very grateful for the switch lite. We can play HUGE games on a handheld. Everyone is complaining and crying about the switches outdated hardware And I’m here still amazed I can play Alien Isolation on a small portable.
Alien Isolation looks absolutely stunning on the Switch! It's crazy to believe it can pull off those visuals. I love my Switch and Switch Lite to death. I also love my 3DS consoles. I think they both have their place. You are right though, having the ability to play home console games on the go is amazing

I know I'm jumping in 10 months late but apparently I'm the one person that uses the separate joy cons. They're perfect for when I play with my niece and it saves me having to buy a second controller since I usually play by myself or online

I used to travel a lot on the train with my cuz and always took my gameboy to link up to his, then later on I had the Genesis Nomad and you can stick a second controller onto it. The screen is tiny, but still great, hahaha! Golden Axe and Street Fighter 2 were some of the greatest games back then! Hardly travel nowadays, if only I had a Switch then! 🤓

You can't go wrong with either. If you got a Switch Lite you can play all the games you have for the Switch. If you get a 3DS, you'll need to get a whole new library of games. Maybe that's worth staying within the Switch family. Though I'm a huge fan of the 3DS.

At 4:12 when he says “a drawback to this is that if I lose my Switch Lite, I lose my games at home as well”. Can somebody explain this to me? What if we have a regular Switch at home (as a secondary device)? Would the games still be lost?
I made this video quite a while ago. If you lose a Switch with digital games, you can redownload them on your secondary Switch. What I was meant to convey is that the Switch is both a portables and a home console. I also mainly play physical games. So if I lose my Switch Lite, I’m losing my portable and home console games because I brought them with me.
I finnaly found a good deal on a switch lite. I really like it, but still love my 3ds xl, and usually take it on trips. Mostly because i have it "customized" and I have a ton of games on it without the need of cartridges, and those are all games I play without need of wifi. The games I play the most on my Switch are Mariokart 8 and Rocket league, both of which are better with wifi, both can be played without it so thats not a complete deal breaker. I guess the slightly smaller form factor of the 3ds xl, and the fact it clamshells which makes me feel safer carrying it around. But I think the Switch lite will be going with me some in the near future.
I have a switch lite and I love it it's basically to me handheld home console but I still want to get a 3D XL just so I can play games like Omega Ruby and alpha Sapphire soul silver Kirby squeak squad and tons of other DS and 3DS games that I miss from my childhood
Both are fantastic! I know these videos are mean to compare and make a judgement on which one is better, but in all honesty I like them both! They have two different game libraries which makes it relevant to own both.

I see where it has its uses. The Switch is quite versatile with the removable joy cons that can be used on their sides. For me personally, I mainly use the Switch as a single player handheld and prefer the traditional D-pad for games that were designed with it in mind. Though, I respect your opinion and I'm glad you shared it.
Thank you for making this video 🤗 I just bought a Wii U, switch just didn't seem worth the price and the games are much cheaper on the Wii U. I would like the play Sky: Children of Light when it comes out on the switch though and that's the hard part of this decision.

I have a switch and 3DS XL i play the 3ds more... the selection of games is more to my liking but I'm sure the switch will catch up eventually but it still wont make the 3ds irrelevant
I love the 3DS. It was my primary gaming console for a long time because of how much I traveled. I still play it regularly.
The 3ds is almost 10 years old so of course the library is better we just have to give the switch time

i own a New 3ds xl now ( homebrew ) with 128gb memory and like 50 games on it but i am thinking about to change it for Switch Lite system because it newish , better graphics and bigger screan...but i ma not sure if its worth it even...?
Both are really great consoles. The Switch Lite is current, so it still has games being made for it. The 3DS has a huge catalog of really games, which I'm sure you're aware of. You can't go wrong with either one. I play both of mine all the time.

Just make sure you bring your charging cord for your switch lite or you won’t get far on battery. The 3ds is a great system and so is the Wii U…
Edit: the switch lite is a good option for on the go, but the 3ds is a primary choice for me because of it’s huge library and clamshell design. The clamshell design not only protects it but has a really innovative game style.
You nailed it with this comment. You'll need to bring a charger if you play anything that pushes the Switch like Breath of the Wild. The 3DS has great battery life. I bought a 3DS usb charging cable years ago to use while traveling. I've never plugged it in. It still has the twist tie around it that it shipped with. I too like the clamshell design and the amazing library of games it has.
But then if you end up somewhere without an outlet then your out of luck. Where the 3ds can hold a charge until you get past the place without an outlet.

I feel like the 3ds battery is infinite even tho it’s not. I left my 3ds on for 2 days because I forgot and when I came back it was still on. I feel like not many consoles have good battery life nowadays. The 3ds can slip into my pocket while I go to the mall and collect street pass. It’ll still have a charge even when I get home.

Awesome! Do you like to play games on your TV? If so, get the standard Switch. If you're only interested in portable play, go with the Switch Lite. I made a video comparing them if that helps.

It can be arguable but when you think about it being able to take full on console games on the go is a plus like being able to play Doom let's go Pikachu Mario Odyssey Zelda breath of the wild Wolfenstein dragon Ball xenoverse 2 SpongeBob rehydrated donkey Kong zombie army assassin's Creed I think that's more impressive but don't get me wrong the DS has a great library but I feel like that's because it's been around longer wait until the Nintendo switch builds up its library cuz even right now it has a decent library so imagine when it's old is the DS

I usually stick to the well known games: The Legend of Zelda - A Link Between Worlds, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Mario Kart 7, Metroid - Samas Returns, and Mario 3D Land. There's so many great games on the 3DS to play.

My New 3dsXl with cfw has gba, ds, 3ds, nes, snes games all on it. I could play this one console from now on and never play all of the games on it to completion or boredom. I do still want a switch and im not sure why lol I mean I still have a bunch of games I need to play from the old consoles. I think I want it for Mariokart 8 Deluxe, which I still play MK8 on my Wii U regularly, and for Mariokart 9 or whatever they call the one that comes out for the switch. Mk always gives me a reason to buy Nintendo consoles. Ps, with my cfw, I dont have to "check in" to play any of them, thats ridiculous.
Nice! I love the 3ds handhelds! I’ve never modded any of them though. I’ve always been straight laced when it comes to my Nintendo consoles. I’m also a big Mario Kart fan! I wouldn’t hesitate recommending a Switch to anybody. I absolutely love both of mine! I’m also a big supporter of the Wii U, and I’d still recommend a Switch. Not only is it convenient, being a handheld and home console, but you also have access to current games.
Yep, CFW is the way to go with the 3DS, as it is on the Wii and Wii U also. CFW completely changes the range of options and flexibility of the consoles and frees you from Nintendo's "walled garden". The first version Switch (non-Mariko version) is also great on CFW. If you're going fully legit with Nintendo consoles, it will cost a lot of money. Are the majority of those games really worth their price? Not in my opinion. Is the online subscription really worth the price to play a limited selection on VC games when you can have the entire back catalog available through roms? Not even close.
I don't think we're getting a new Mario Kart for this generation of Switch. It's possible, though, that they will soon release a new console that's similar to the Switch and release a new Mario Kart for it shortly after. But if you enjoy Mario Kart 8 a lot, I think it's definitely still worth getting a Switch. You can get one used pretty cheap, then you'll have more money to spend on the deluxe version of the game and DLC booster pass for all the extra tracks they added throughout the years!
For me the new 3ds (non xl) for handheld, no contest.

The 3DS has been my go to handheld for about 9 years. I still play it regularly. Though I really like my Switch Lite! I've been playing it more and more.

if the OG switch is too big, imagine that Steam Deck thing. As portable as a laptop and likely much worse to play.
That is the main reason why I haven't picked one up. It look very cumbersome. Also, the battery life isn't all that great from what I've heard. I might as well just play on my laptop.

The 3ds battery can be replaced fairly easily. Just like my WII U. When your battery dies on switch lite I believe you just throw it in the trash. we all know and understand phone batteries and all electronic devices suffer from battery diminishment

I absolutely love the 3ds, so much more fun to collect for than the switch IMO I have like 8 3ds/2ds and only a switch and switch lite.
With all that said the switch really poops on the 3ds imo when it comes to more mature titles, it can play so many resident evil games, Metro 2033, and especially one of my favorite games of all time Alien Isolation.
Trust me I love my 3Ds’s to bits tho but I’m very grateful for the switch lite. We can play HUGE games on a handheld. Everyone is complaining and crying about the switches outdated hardware And I’m here still amazed I can play Alien Isolation on a small portable.
Alien Isolation looks absolutely stunning on the Switch! It's crazy to believe it can pull off those visuals. I love my Switch and Switch Lite to death. I also love my 3DS consoles. I think they both have their place. You are right though, having the ability to play home console games on the go is amazing
