- This is the ILS approach to Runway 26R in Atlanta, shot July of 2008. We were supposed to have arrived before sunset, but were delayed on the ground in Milwaukee by several hours due to thunderstorms in the ATL area. I was the First Officer (Pilot Not Flying) on this leg which meant I was working the radios and initiating the callouts you hear on the video. We had a company pilot in the jumpseat; I handed him my Canon ELPH and he shot this sweet video. The Captain (Pilot Flying) did a great job that night, too. His transition to the flare was so smooth you can hear the computer call out every increment from 50' to 5' above touchdown. This was a great plane to fly. It is a travesty that this airline is no longer in business.
That was a cool video, and a nice landing too ;P
Damn, that was one hell of a sweet landing, right on the center line! Great Job!
Nice smooth landing!
wow it looks so CLOUDY!!!!!nice landing
great thanks for post the video and have a good day
this is awesome!
Beautiful! Shootin' an approach in IMC at night is awesome!
Nice video capture!
@1:07, he turned the clouds off. I love that switch!
If only someone can make a detailed model for the sim world to keep this legacy living.
OMG - just enormous!
Enjoyed the passenger experience onboard a Qantas 717.
Too bad Boeing no longer makes this great little airplane.
Thanks for the video!
@PilotUTA The panel was based off of the MD-11, Nice observation.
@gokumalo Jetcity aircraft has a great 717-200 for FS9 or FSX(have to change panel and sound for FSX) it is freeware and very well done. Hope that helps
Great pilots, great airline... great plane...Too bad......
nice video, I wanna get my type rating for the 717, but idk I like just sticking with the -700s
@FirstFlight271 instrumental landing system...where autopilot lands it for you...all you have to do is manage speeds n flaps n gear n stuff like tht...but not altitude :)
Midwest isn't around anymore? They were the first airline I interviewed with in 1997 but they didn't hire me. I ended up at NWA a few months later but hated the cold MN winters so while the pilots were on strike in the summer of 98 I applied at AWA which is now USAir. Still there.
these ended up with Mexicana and then I think Delta
@mickithebush reverse thrust available because they touched down
What was it she said at 2:06 about "reverse"??
Lady in the cockpit
Looks like a nice airplane to fly. the flight deck reminds me a lot of the MD-11. What is your opinion of this airplane?
@capt03travis Boeing 717, midwest airlines.
That landing was hawt! Love to see women in the cockpit!
Man I'm barely 14 and I'm going to highschool in couple of months and I'm already fascinated with aircrafts but I'm not shire to go a regular highschool or to an aviation highschool?
@capt03travis it clearly says at the top a boeing 717 on the title and its midwest airlines god
man thats fuckin scary but still wanna be a pilot lol
I'm so surprised. Has it got a glass cockpit? Isn't it too old for glass cockpit?
Instrument Landing System
Isn't there some rule about things you can do below 10,000 feet? That chick who used to write responses to questions for USAToday got in trouble with the FAA for filming an approach.
I'll bet you're one of those hot chicks.......I scan google for 717 pilot jobs and come up with this!
Couldn't C a damn thing! 👎
