Hi Walter, I really like everything you explain here, and yes, I learned a thing or two from some of the things you say about the Rodecaster pro 2. But I have also had this Rodecaster pro 2 for a while now, after my previous Rodecaster Pro 1, which I still enjoy using, and preferably together with my Rodecaster Pro 2, which is connected to my Rodecaster pro 1. with my Apple I-mac PC, and yes, I also learned a few ding dongs in the meantime. Look: Like me, you also have a Rodecaster Pro, and just like me, your Rodecaster Pro also has a Line-IN, and the Rodecaster Pro 2 no longer has a Line-IN. I like to use the Line IN of my Rodecaster, for example, to connect it to the "Stereo Audio OUT" of my "Tascam DP-3280". And in this "Tascam DP-3280" my E-Piano is connected, as well as the TV and some microphones that I really like to align in Stereo. And now all inputs of my "Tascam DP-3280" are completely full. Now I have a problem. I actually want to connect my TV and also my E-Piano together with a microphone to my Rodecaster Pro 2, but for the TV I need at least one Line-IN, and the Rodercaster Pro 2 no longer has this Line-IN and that is Shame. Now I can probably hear you thinking out loud: "Wait a minute: THE Rodecaster Pro 2 does have Line-IN, even 4 Line-In if it wants." Yes, I thought that too before I bought the Rodecaster Pro 2 before I watched a lot of videos on TH-cam like yours to learn from, and there I learned that the 4 Microphone inputs of the Rodecaster Pro 2 can also be used as a Line IN if I select "Line-IN", that's what I did. Guess what? For good stereo sound from my TV, I have to use two inputs in the Rodecaster Pro 2, for example inputs 3 and 4. I cannot use input number 1 because it is for the host's Mic, and after that I only have 1 input left, namely 2. I can still plug in one vocal Mic there, but no more E-Piano because an E-Piano also has two Stereo-OUTs and these cables therefore also have to be plugged into a Stereo IN, and my Rodecaster Pro 2 only has one input left, but I need two for my E-Piano, so there is one shortage. I can also combine the inputs 1+2 into one stereo input that I can then operate via slider 1, slider 2 then no longer works, great, then I can certainly use slider 2 for something else? No, that is not possible, because there is already a cable in input 2. Then let me align Inputs 2+3 in stereo and operate them via one slider, in this case this will be slider 3, and I can no longer use slider 4 for anything other than, no, that is not possible because slider 4 is already there is a cable. Let me then combine sliders 3+4 into one stereo IN, which I then have to operate via slider number 4, slider number 3 then no longer works, and using it is not possible because there is a cable in it. So in this way I have sliders in the Rodecaster Pro 2 that I cannot use because they are used in combination with another slide and I cannot use the non-working sliders for anything else, and all inputs are occupied. Wouldn't it be better to have the option to use each of these four inputs of the Rodecaster pro 2, one by one, as a Stereo-Line-IN? So the TV, (in stereo), in input 2, my vocal microphone in input 3, my E-Piano (in stereo), in input 4, and in input number 1 my mic for the host. Wouldn't this be great? This is unfortunately a dream, because this is not possible with the Rodecaster pro 2. And I think that is very unfortunate. Do you think RØDE couldn't make that? Because that would be much better if this Rodecaster Pro 2 could also be used by musicians with stereo music instruments. However, if Rode cannot do this, which would greatly disappoint me, then RØDE can make me a new Rodecaster Pro which, just like my Tascam 3280, has 32 channels and 20 sliders, of which you can use 8 of these sliders as a mono input that you can transfer over two sliders can be operated and can be aligned and used in stereo in 2 channels each. There are also 12 sliders that you can use per slide, in stereo, preferably all with effects, and preferably also Bluetooth for a wireless Bluetooth stereo connection for my phone for calling and for music, and all via Microphone Combi -In microphone inputs, and preferably also with one or two USB C ports for an IN+OUT Stereo + IN and OUT data connection to PC and internet. Do you think RØDE could make this? I wonder, but I will be very happy if it works. And I'm sure, I'm not alone.
By the way, Great Video. Thanks for explaining the "Mix Minus" feature, and helping me to understand that feature, as I'm new to this and didn't know what that meant, but had it enabled on my RCP2 unit. So again, thanks!
Okay question: so with this bud Bluetooth or even with the cable, and I was using my iPhone 13 as my soul video…will the quality of the audio be as nice when I rewatch that video, I’m trying to build my channel up with music production live or recorded jams…sorry if that doesn’t make sense, I’m learning, I got my music gear drum machine and synths and I am in this process where I need a mixer in this case I want this beautiful rodecaster 2 which does everything and more as I go, but I don’t have a separate camera, I only have my iPhone currently.
So I’m not sure if you’ve seen my most recent video but you can use your iPhone as a webcam so the quality will be pretty good. And yes, the quality over Bluetooth is just as good and the Bluetooth channel has processing on it if you eant
For those of us that desire to have livestream phone calls connecting to the RCP2 and have issues using Bluetooth with our iPhones connecting to the RCP2, I tried many different cables to hook up to the RCP2 to get direct connection (which to me would be far better than wireless connection). The SC15 cable you're using will NOT be able to do livestream phone calls. The solution? Just purchase a 1/4" Male to 3.5mm Male TRS Stereo Audio Cable on Amazon and it's only $5.99. I was even on the phone with RODE's tech support staff to let them know about this and they were very excited to hear this, because they didn't know and were looking for a solution, as many people have been requesting help with that. But make sure you ALSO have the Apple 3.5mm to Lightning adapter to connect to the 3.5mm male jack and insert the 1/4" jack to one of the 4 mic inputs and that's it, you're done. Hope this helps.
So it’s weird that didn’t know but in Rode’s own video, it’s says you can only use Bluetooth to make phone calls due to the iOS protocols. It’s not a rode issue. So just like you said, definitely will work with the method you described just like Air Play in a car. Hopefully, they can adopt the same tech as AirPlay to get it to work over USB
@Survival when it comes to Bluetooth I’m not using it so I wouldn’t know what to tell you. The only thing I would probably say maybe because you’re using Bluetooth and during a call, it might block out possible sounds, who knows? I hope the other wired method that I had explained works well for you. I actually tried several different cables, and they work OK, but not as good as a custom-made cable and that’s what I did for myself and there’s absolutely no hiss or buzz at all and Records perfectly.
@Survival you right now you’re going to get the cleanest recordings if you use a high-end double shielded cable that is custom-made. Better than anything you can buy online. But if you can make it, I would definitely look into getting Gotham cable and using Amphenol connectors. I can tell you right now I am getting the cleanest recordings and they hear me very clearly through my microphone like I’m talking on the phone and it’s even cleaner so it’s better on both ends actually. You can never beat direct connection with cable. But you already know that anyway.
Great video....I followed your video, hooked up the iphone, and everything works great. I'm routing Discord into RCP2 via the chat/usb1 channel....is there a way for the chat channel to hear the output from the iphone and talk to the person on the iphone as well?
So if I understand correctly, you want Discord to be able to hear your phone conversation via the RCP2 but do you want the person on the phone to be able to hear what's going on from Discord?
I’m trying record a podcast with video. I have the rodecaster 1 not the 2. with TWO mics. If I connect my iPhone for video with the cable will both Mics simultaneously be the output for the video? so I don’t have to struggle to syncs the audio and video clips together in a software?

Great video! Thanks for making this. Quick question, I noticed someone else making a video using the iphone 1/4 input jack on the RCP2. Are there any strengths to that as far as sound quality goes. I also noticed when doing bluetooth it's a little tinny. Are you finding that too? Thanks!
I'm going to say the only strength is the amount of headroom you'll get. The one thing I hate on the RCP2 is that they removed the 3.5mm Jack. While you can still boost it pretty good on the bluetooth channel, you'll get even more gain going in with this 1/4 input. You may want to check the settings on the Bluetooth channel and boost your gain or change the EQ.
Question! I want to record a simple video using iPhone and the audio from RCTP. Using Bluetooth, I can get audio from the RCTP but can’t get the effects (echo and reverb) with it. They’re there, but SUPER quiet in the mix. Even if I crank the echo to MAX, it’s still barely audible on my iPhone video. Would this problem be solved with the RODE cable? The Apple cable doesn’t work.

Hi, Is there a way to directly connect your iPhone to the RCP2 to be able to record your livestream call, or are you just relegated to using bluetooth connection to make that happen. Sorry for the delay but hope this helps! You can connect the RCP 2 to the iPhone directly with the USB C cable. You just need a USB C to Lightning Cable.
Ok, so it's been a long day of recording audiobooks so I am tired, but did I miss the part where I was shown 'how to connect 2nd computer' as the title suggests?
The sound sounds too low when I record with the iPhone :/:/ I want to sing with the guitar and record iphone, but the sound sounds too low ...microphone rode podmic I use...How do I need to do decibel settings and fader :(( I want to raise the sound again after video recording
So there are DB's on the screen but they're small and hard to read. On your inputs, are the Pre-Fade or Post-Fade? Because you won't be able to save a multi track recording on your iPhone, then you'll need to get it all right within the RCP 2 before pushing that out. Also, make sure your output levels are high enough.
When you say stream, what do you mean? You can connect the iPhone to the RCP via Bluetooth. Or you're saying you can't record audio on the iPhone via Bluetooth?
Yes the one that comes with the iPhone! When I connect it it doesn’t do anything unless I’m doing something wrong so many videos on the RCP2 but no one is doing any videos on this issue
Regrettably, from Rode's site: "Note: Due to iOS limitations, native phone calls cannot be made on an iPhone or iPad via USB. Use the Bluetooth channel for making calls with your iOS device. Or use another communications app if using USB." My RCPro with the 3.5mm jack could handle real-time calls awesomely. I regret that my RCP2 cannot. Otherwise, just a spectacular piece of hardware.
@@X_tremez Absolutely. I say it depends because the RCP 2 is complex lol So it can kill voicemeter but some people would rather keep it. But, everything you were doing with voicemeter, you can do with just the RCP2

It's too bad we can't stream wireless via Bluetooth so I don't have to buy a longer usb-c cord to run to my computer
When you say stream, what do you mean? You can connect the iPhone to the RCP via Bluetooth. Or you're saying you can't record audio on the iPhone via Bluetooth?
I can't even get one computer to connect. Not sure why. Bluetooth connects with massive lag, but nothing connects using the cable Rode provided.
why confuse the viewer and digress so many times while continuously mentioning specifically specifically specifically
So u can’t use the original usb-c to lightning cable ?
When you say original, what are you referring to? The one that came with the iPhone? I didn’t try that.
Yes the one that comes with the iPhone! When I connect it it doesn’t do anything unless I’m doing something wrong so many videos on the RCP2 but no one is doing any videos on this issue
Well, Rode doesn’t recommend using anything but their specified cable so that’s probably why. I’ll reach out and do some further research.
@@waltjennette I just bought the SC15 and it works so I guess that’s what I needed thanks
Rode caster pro 2 doesn't show up on mac audio input output
Has this issue been resolved?
Regrettably, from Rode's site: "Note: Due to iOS limitations, native phone calls cannot be made on an iPhone or iPad via USB. Use the Bluetooth channel for making calls with your iOS device. Or use another communications app if using USB." My RCPro with the 3.5mm jack could handle real-time calls awesomely. I regret that my RCP2 cannot. Otherwise, just a spectacular piece of hardware.

Does this KILL the need for VOICEMETER on a 1 or 2 PC stream setup????
I would say yes but it depends on your setup!
@@waltjennette Than you so much for responding, But what do you mean depends?
@@X_tremez Absolutely. I say it depends because the RCP 2 is complex lol So it can kill voicemeter but some people would rather keep it. But, everything you were doing with voicemeter, you can do with just the RCP2
@@waltjennette Thanks bud, I subbed. So you believe think I cannot go wrong if I invest in this and throw away VoiceMeter? Right now I am doing a single PC stream cause I have the ability to do so with 12 GEN 12900k and 4090 etc. Do not really need to go back to 2 pc setup honesty but if I did with NDI would still be ok?
@@X_tremez What is your current audio setup? Hardware inputs & then virtual inputs?
