My friend, I'm a fellow TH-camr who's been desperate to figure out how to connect my studio monitors to my Rode while being able to use a Mic simultaneously, without getting feedback - after MONTHS of trying to figure this stuff out and countless tutorials - your video FINALLY solved it for me. Not only does this resolve my mic/speaker issue, but it allows me to have a dual-desk setup that's exactly how I originally wanted it, without compromise. You've done me a far bigger service than you realize, I can't thank you enough for your S-Tier content and teaching skills :)
My goodness, after over an hour of searching for the answer how to get rid of this echo on my virtual guest's audio, I have found the right answer from you. What a great video! Thank you so much! Subscribed!

This video is amazing. Thank you for breaking down all the functionalities for both auditory processors as well as visual processors. You make it very clear and easy to understand!
Excellent presentation, including graphics and explanations. I worked as a tv reporter for 20 years, and when reporting live in the field and not getting mix/minus…well, I can tell you it’s very distracting and it makes it hard to think. This is why you may have some seen some reporters pulling their IFB (earpiece) out of their ear as they start talking. You’ve described mix/minus in a way that makes me better understand it now. As a new owner of at Rodcaster Pro 2, your video will save me time and suffering. 😅 Thank you.
The algorithm recommended one of your videos and I can’t believe how good they are. It’s only a matter of time before you have a much bigger following. The diagrams and graphics are amazing! Good luck, and you earned my sub!
I agree with @homesick mac - You are absolutely killing it for us. This is one of the best videos I have seen on this topic. I have the RCP II and I have just used the chat feature to remove the mix minus. I haven't done any additional routing. But I will later on.
GOSH I'VE BEEN SEACHING FOR THIS FOR AT LEAST 9 HOURS IN THE PAST 3 DAYS COULDN'T GET WHY MY PC IS RECORDING MY MICS AND THE COMPUTER'S SOUND AS WELL ALL BECAUSE OF THE MISMATCHED ROUTING IN MY Caster pro 2 THANKS MAN BUT IT WAS SINCERELY HARD TO FIND THE FING WORD TO SEARCH FOR IT THANKS A LOT MAN LIKED AND SUBBED!!!!!` and hats off to the detailing and editing of this video!
This was absolutely phenomenal, you helped me solve the worst feedback issue with my guitar plugged into the Rodecaster Pro 2, and running it through Logic Pro X. Your pacing, and visual detail in how you explained everything from top to bottom was in a class of its own. Thank you
Question (Loved this, thank you - total newbie here) - I haven't seen anyone do a video on this yet that I could find. Options for Using the RODE GO II Wireless system with the RODECaster Pro II, I think I've figured out how to do it via an analog input, but I think it could be done with a USB input. This video was so helpful. A thank$ is inbound :)
You can‘t yet do it via the USB input (unless you connect a computer via USB and plug the WGoII into that and set it as the system input). But - this feature is coming soon. (USB mic connectivity) along with many more - look out for my next video. :)
Mix Minus is so difficult to understand for people like me that need a visual representation. THANK YOU for making this video with the incredible graphics. I am setting up my new Pro 2 and could not figure it out and you saved me!
Rarely do i leave comments but you truly do deserve your praises on the excellent work and break down you did with this particular video😊,I love and appreciate how in detail you explained every aspect of this process. and I can tell from the video editing you did this with love. All I can say is man keep up the good work and you now have a new subscriber👍
This is by far the BEST explanation of mix minus and routing on RCP 2 bar none...including RODE!!! Goodness you should lead their training. It took me several hours of playing with the device to figure it out a few days ago and had I known about this channel I could have saved myself so much time. From reviewing your other channel videos, you are a very gifted trainer. Many thanks! [Subscribing].
You’re absolutely killing it with your explanations, you a teacher otherwise?? This is so helpfull and although I haven’t loaded in the Beta FW in mine, I’m enjoying you showing everything in such a great way!
ever since i pulled this little thing from the packaging box it has been nothing but fighting and arguing between us two - i couldn't find a way to map different audio sources into each of the sliders, and then feed them independently to OBS, but your breakdown explanation might be enough for me to find some workarounds - very much for the video, really well explained !
Dude, this is one of the best explanations of this… outstanding! May I ask who does your video editing? They are very good, are they available to hire?
My compliments on the graphics work: Helped both to illustrate how to mix-minus with this device and also (more importantly) to highlight and more fully explain the differences between the USB audio channels in the RP2.
Great presentation sir , Rode should use your talent to market thier products , good mellow voice to hear , computer presentation excellent , to the point , not wasting people s time , keep up the good work till people understand your hardwork on presentation. ❤😊
Amazing work. I finally understand this device & how I can use it in my workflow. Currently use WaveXLR & Streamdeck + on my MacBook & PS5. But need more control.
Wow! Problem solved! Last year we did an event and we had exactly that problem and I didn't know how to solve it with the Rodecaster What a great video and content. Subscribed and like of course thank you
Thanks for this video... We used custom mix minus for usb 1 today and it greatly improved the Audio quality with our streamyard cloud recordings..... I still need to adjust my recording levels on the SD card... But your channel is very helpful with this.... It' just requires time and experimenting with the RCP2 to get more functionality out of it..... Going to subscribe to this channel!! Russell Paranoid America podcast!
You're a great explainer - the best i've heard so far...However i'm STILL slightly confused: When you take out a channel to create the mix minus: that MINUS channel is EXCLUDED from the output mix. However, you still want that channel recorded in the total recording - therefore my question is, when you take out the voice of the participant in Zoom, for example, so he can't hear himself through his headphones or speakers, ie he has been excluded from OUTPUT MIX, how is his voice being RECORDED in the final mix - does mix minus just extract the audio from the monitoring, not the recording?
Hi, thanks! You got it perfectly, this is exactly how it works. The mix-minus just takes the channel out from the specific outgoing mix, but it will still be recorded to the sd-card. A word of caution: if you are recording via USB into a DAW and not to the SD-card, then avoud setting up RCP2 Main Multitrack with mix-minus, as then your USB multitrack recording will most likely have that channel excluded.
Amazing channel! I am glad I discovered your channel, where have you been all my life? The efforts that you put in your videos are just mind blowing. Thank you, I am learning many things from your channel! For example I had no idea about this 'mix-minus' thing before i saw you. I have one question, me and my brother live in two different countries and we are planning to start an audio/video podcast remotely but we don't want it to recored on zoom or skype or any of those online services. He has a rode procaster 2 but I have only Zoom F6 and SSL2. How do we set this up, or which interface/mixing should I buy? Again, thank you for all the knowledge you share with us!
Bravo. This is the first video of your content I've seen. I'm so impressed with the quality of your editing and content I had to comment to let you know. This is fantastic! Liked, subscribed, and notified. Also, I think you might have touched on one of my questions when you were talking about the sub mixes. I just got the RCP2 yesterday. I tried it out on a zoom call with one of my coworkers. I had some background music playing from my cell phone connected via Bluetooth. But the background music was way too loud. I tried turning it down, simple enough, by using the fader mapped to the Bluetooth channel. This worked for me in my headphones. But my coworker told me the cell phone music was still full volume on his end. I'm curious, is this the problem you were describing with the sub mixes? I haven't played around with it enough yet, but I was wondering if I could "fix" this simple by changing one of the settings having to do with "pre/post" faders. But if this is the sub mixes you're talking about, maybe there just isn't a solution yet? By the way, I'm using firmware version 1.0.7 now. Thanks so much for your wonderful video. I look forward to more of your content. If you haven't already, maybe you could post a video how you produce such high quality editing in your videos? I can only imagine how much time and effort you put into this. Outstanding!!
Thank you Elliot!!! Appreciate you taking the time to comment and your kind words. Your issue is not with the lack of submixes (although that would be a solution too) but as you say it must be the pre-fader setting under the Outputs menu. Good idea to make a video about the editing, I have thought about that too, but it’s just so much to tell about the different equipments that I did not yet get to making it.
I agree with the comments about the quality of your presentation! Awesome. And no irritating background music! Both thumbs up. I am, however, a teeny bit confused. When using the mix-minus, does the chat audio still get recorded? Thanks.
Thank you for the clear explanation! There is one issue that I can fix yet.. I connected a iPhone through bluetooth, to record a call into a podcast. In the custom output mix, I had eventually basically "minused" all channels, but the person on the other end of the line could still hear an echo of his voice.. Do you have an idea how I could fix this?
Hi, if the bluetooth channel was also „minused“ from the bluetooth output (which you can see how it looks like when you select mix-minus instead of custom), then there should not be any echo. I can only think of one option, if you were listening to the call via the monitor speakers, they could eventually bleed back into your mic, and then I would suggest you to use headphones instead. If that was not the case, Unfortunately I have no idea why this has happend.
@@PodcastMeister thank you for your swift response! I was listening through headphones, so that was OK.. I’ll just keep digging deeper. First attempt: connect iPhone with cable instead of bluetooth.. we’ll get there eventually :)
Amazing video I do indeed need help though, very confused at the moment. My goal is to achieve a stereo mix using ECAMM LIVE. I understand that in Ecamm live in order to get stereo I have to check mark input 1 and 2 in audio preferences. BUT will the rodecaster be recognized as input 1 and 2 in Ecamm by just simply plugging up the rode caster to my laptop into USB 1 ? if I run 4 things into the rode caster pro will Ecamm automatically pick it up stereo because of the simple fact the rode caster usb 1 input feature? please help thank you :)
