    • @hoon_sol
      @hoon_sol ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Except most people said that about almost everything, even though it made perfect sense. The only thing she really reacted that way to here was Bran being chosen as king. While I get that it can seem strange, after you've had quite some time to think about it, it's probably the most diplomatic choice possible in that situation. Even though he's a Stark, his character now clearly has a marked quality of being impartial, whereas choosing someone like Sansa would lead to a power imbalance, and besides she'd rather be Queen in the North, so declaring independence and being that fits her much better.
      Who else would make a better ruler in that situation? You could argue for Jon, but that's definitely wasn't going to happen after what went down, so who else? Tyrion himself would perhaps have been the second choice after Jon, but that's definitely not going to happen either after what went down, and he's the one trying to achieve a diplomatic outcome there, so he's not going to try to hint at himself. Other minor characters just aren't going to cut it, obviously Davos or Sam or Brienne aren't going to cut it. Robin? Don't make me laugh.
      Alternatively you could argue for Gendry too, as he actually has a legitimate claim and even Targaryen blood being a Baratheon, but he's still too minor of a character, and also indisputably a bastard. He also likely wouldn't be a good fit for the type of king needed to rebuild, but more the type of king to conquer, like his father.
      So in the situation, while it might have seemingly come out of left field, Bran was actually a good and diplomatic choice that would potentially make for an impartial ruler that could restore some balance after the chaos. Personally I have a hard time seeing how any other character could really have been better, and that's probably what the writers also concluded. When so many major characters are dead, there's naturally going to be a vacuum, and the best fit won't always be the ones that have had the most significant screentime.

      The "Love is the Death of Duty" speech isn't saying whether love should be chosen over duty or duty over love. It's supposed to show that deciding between "right" and "wrong" is not always clear cut or easy, especially when it's very personal. And it's hard to choose against who and what you love.
      It's one of the reasons that the Jedi have their rules against attachments (which, as we've repeatedly seen, doesn't prevent them from forming attachments and facing these same decisions...)
      And, in Jon's case, he was torn between love on both sides (Dany vs the Starks).

As the three-eyed raven he is all knowing; everytime a lord or smallfolk comes to him with their petitions or “stories” he can see the truth at once. Remember what happened to Littlefinger. That trial had no witness and by all laws, Baelish should have been able to come away alive but Bran saw the truth and so justice was served. It had nothing to do with Bran's fitness, and everything to do with how Bran would let the wisest people in his Small Council rule while he would search the history and present day in his mind to guide the major decisions and watch for danger. Bran will not let his emotions influence his rule because he doesn't have any emotions now... and this will give Westeros time to heal along with the incentive for each House to work together and raise their children to be wise in the hopes of being elected as the next king.

      Like she literally lied to him in the godswood and broke a vow at least Arya didn’t say anything. But what baffles me is after learning that he’s also a Targaryen and dany is technically king they still refuse to accept her because Arya said “she’s not one of us and I’ll never get to know her.” Dane and Dave really had some views about dany and it shows 😒 they can’t wrote women well without George and gave us unnecessary dialogue and scenes that made no sense all just to make the stark girls seem like they’re the strongest and smartest people because Sansa and Arya are their favorite characters.

    Bran always used to say to people that he can see past and things happening right now but he never told to people that he can see the future, he hide that part, so thats why he said i can't never be lord of anything cause he know he is gonna lord of the 6 kingdoms.
    Anyways everybody got what the love, it was nice ending.

    At the Emmy Awards when GOT won its 4th consecutive best drama award in 4 years, D&D backstage said, from the very start George told us that it was going to be Bran on the Iron Throne & we didn't deviate from it. This was the biggest issue that people had with this episode, which could be a major reason why George is redoing his ending for years now. I'm ok with the ending, when all the smoke clears, it made the most sense. All the other major pieces fit into place perfectly. If anyone paid any attention to season one, episode one, the answers were all there. The show was really about the Starks, it centered around them, they got the bulk of the airplay in the show & to those remaining Starks, they got what they coveted. Bran, the last major piece, was being groomed to lead from the very start, he was the most enthralled with the King coming to Winterfell. Too many people watching the show, they always thought about deserves, rather then what the main characters that were left, really coveted.
    I really enjoyed watching your videos every week. HOTD was great, but not without flaws if you choose to look for them. See you there.

      George is taking so long because he can't figure out how to get all of his offshooting plots to fit.
      Bran as King doesn't _not_ make sense based on what we've seen so far in the books.
      D&D didn't commit to making Bran interesting once they ran out of source material. The fault lies with them (well, and George for not finishing the books.)

    • @Steve-eh4db
      @Steve-eh4db ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jcompton8507 George is close to 15 years now on his putting out his next book. You're giving the guy way too much credit, for turning out to be a lazy toad. What was such a bigger priority for him then not finishing the books as what he signed on for when HBO took on the show? Blaming D&D is a cop out. You could see here on TH-cam after he they finished shooting season 3, in a GOT panel, that George was already worried on the pace that D&D was churning out the show, that they would him pass him by. He had 6 years to finish the books, since they signed on & approached season 6. He left hundreds of GOT employees in limbo, by not putting out the next book, so D&D got tired of waiting around for him & moved on. George tends to borrow from other books/movies, there are so many similarities to dozens of movies that were put out, one needs to question on whether he ran out of ideas & needed other people's minds to draw from. Simply said, Bran in the wheelchair with unlimited mind power to see the future & the past, becoming the leader of Westoros, was stolen from the character Charles Xavier, the leader of the X-men, who also has the power of the brain to see things, who also was disabled in a wheelchair. By no means a coincidence. Bran was groomed to lead in the very first minutes of the pilot episode, if you fit all the other pieces to where they truly belonged, Bran was the most logical choice to lead. To me, the best 20 consecutive episodes came from the start of season 6 to season 8 episode 3, no books in tow. The show's last few episodes, George had already built the platform to where the train would arrive, it's George's fault for being lazy & not building the proper tracks to it. He would not need to change the ending, working on it for 3 years now, if it wasn't his ending. A laundry list of flaws in the writing in the first 5 seasons if one took the time to find them, as many George fans tend to only put blame on the screenwriters for the last few seasons without bothering to pick apart the first 5 seasons.

    We never really got to know the depth of Bran’s powers.
    What was he doing under the tree waiting for the Night King?
    Was he time traveling to orchestrate all the things that ever happened to Arya so she would get there just in time to kill the Night King?
    Did Bran go back and get himself pushed out of the tower so he would eventually become the Three-eyed Raven?
    Did he go back 1,000 years to Valyria and suggest to Aegon that he fly to Westeros?

    But who better to rule than someone who literally knows everything and can see anything from anyone’s life. He knows what they’re plotting and what alliances they’ve made and he knows what they’ll do in the future. He’s basically god and he isn’t power hungry and won’t make emotional decisions. He has all of the qualities you hope a ruler has and more. He can never be fooled or manipulated by anyone everyone else has this human factor which can be flawed and lead to their downfall and the kingdoms

    Bran being chosen was perfect and the most logical choice. Felt right when I first saw it. I never assumed that Bran knew he would be king all along (or since becoming the 3ER). It’s not like he can see the future perfectly as the future is not written in stone. He has a deep sense of intuition and only was aware to the idea of him being king after the final events in kings landing. Him “travelling all this way” likely referred to him traveling to kings landing from winterfell, not his entire journey through the show. Was a great final season that got all the emotional beats right. I feel sorry for people (not you) who view shows through the lens of pure logic rather than emotion. Being hit with emotional feels is 1000% more satisfying than everything making sense on a logical level or every piece of dialogue being consistent I.e “he said he could never be lord if anything!!!” Dude, he meant what he said at the time but CHANGED his perspective once events transpired. Great reaction series. You are definitely in tune with the emotional side of things which is why I think I enjoyed watching you react so much. Glad you enjoyed it! Look forward to watching your HOD reaction.
