    Ever since I started watching your channel, I have to keep buying more notebooks..... To take notes on the technical information from your videos! And I love doing that! Thanks so much for all your teaching! 👍

    Tinman I’m porting my first saw based off what I learned from you and Ironhorse plus reading.
    The saw is actually kind of similar to this 850. It’s a little 38cc plastic McCulloch (PM425AV) which is the same saw as the 3516 etc. Anyway it’s a throw away saw vs that 850 but it’s interesting how it is very similar in design.
    I’m totally hooked on this porting thing and with all the variables of Squish,exhaust/intake timing etc I can’t forsee this getting boring any time soon!!
    I went a little more wild vs conservative on my numbers but I wanted to see a big change plus I have 4 other saws like that to play with if I destroy this one. I figured it’d be a fun saw to learn on.
    I raised my exhaust then did some more reading and things were not looking good as to if this saw would run good.
    Read some more and decided to look up the specs on my old MS250 because that thing screamed and I liked that saw. Well turns out my numbers are very very close to that MS250 and less wild even so who knows it might run lol.
    Building a limbing saw anyway not a firewood cutter.
    Great video thanks for the help!

    I'm not a professional porter, just a tinkerer, and I totally agree there are different ways to skin a cat but I have experienced lowering the blowdown can really power in the cut. I know different saws with different crankcases like different things. I did some mild porting to my 046 a long time ago but didn't touch the upper transfers as I didn't have a tool to get them. Recently I bought a 90 degree tool and took the blowdown down from 20 to 17 degrees with no other change and with the same chain and the same log has a very noticeable increase in torque. Doesn't bog and can really lean on it quite a bit harder. Alot happier with the saw. Love your videos by the way.

    great video. in old times on 2 stroke engines we did file on the piston head little bit just to open the the transfer port earlier.it did work but its not optimal do so.

    Very nice work. I love this channel. You work like I do. I try to have everything perfect. I try to do a good enough job that someone looking at my work won't know that it's been worked on unless they know what it looked like before I worked on it. Everything gets scrubbed clean before work and assembly. I clean the whole saw.

    Would the port timing numbers still apply to a 50cc saw?
    My old 026 finally died. Ate a ring and lost the cylinder.
    I'm very interested in porting it. Woods port. For reliability and longevity.

    • @ikesquirrel
      @ikesquirrel 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love 50cc saws. They can make great power and are light weight. I try to keep the exhaust as low as possible to maintain torque. Torque is how hard it will pull on the chain, you want all you can get. Most of it is right before the exhaust opens. I like 18-20 blowdown. I widen the exhaust and intake quite a bit. I also smooth out and open the transfers to keep the flow smooth. I ported a husky 350 for myself after doing a couple for someone else. I did quite a bit of work on it and used a good bit of jb weld in places. The transfers flow a ton. The exhaust and intake are as wide as can be. The squish is .018. I trimmed a ton of metal off the piston to increase transfer flow and reduce weight.
      It turns close to 16,000 rpm and holds plenty of rpm in the cut.

  • @SOHN32
    @SOHN32 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wonder if o rings around bolts would work. Or over time it would leak. Probably still better use sealant. Seen some transmission builds use around pump bolts seal them. So dont think you have a primary pump seal leak or main seal leak.

  • @tammotenter3249

    Thats quite interesting that this saw went lean. My saw went super rich and cut at least 3000rpm slower than stock, which is about 7000rpm. I have to say its a 44mm stroke saw, big intake, big carb (22mm stock). I tried lowering the blowdown by shaving of the top of piston (which I have not been able to do very cleanly).
    I dont know maybe thats what was the Problem. I changed the piston back up and increased blowdown even more. I have to say, thats when the saw really woke up

    Tinman, I may be wrong but that oil pump looks to be missing the spring to hold the inboard flange of the pump up against the top of the oil housing.

    What did you decide on the timing for the Echo CS590? ? ? ? ? You do a good job on your videos; your explanations are very insightful and easy to understand and relate to.
    You should squeeze the Motoseal tube from the rear of the tube......other suggestions wil follow as they come up. That's the only major on so far ( :

    • @JacksonHall611
      @JacksonHall611 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats strange because here in the US Ultra Gray is the Honda RTV silicone equivalent and the Motoseal is not a RTV silicone its hard to describe but it is quite different

    • @ozdatman
      @ozdatman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JacksonHall611 Yeah, I don't know what the story is with permatex in Aus. I have used ultra grey on gearboxes and engines for years with no problems, so it's good stuff. I don't think it's a trade marked name down here because there are about 4 different brands with ultra grey in its line up that I know of.

    Great Video My Brother from another mother!!! I am the same way when building a saw 1. Clean everything then do it again 2. Make sure nothing that moves is dry 3. Strive for perfection. People give me shit about wearing gloves when assembling a saw and I have to explain that its not that im worried about my hands im worried about the saw staying clean. Is it just me or do the MS200T and the Pro Mac 850 have very similar transfer design
