    Revan wanted to remodel the Republic and the Jedi Order so that they'd be ready to face Darth Vitiate's Sith Empire. He kept his distance from the Star Forge because he knew he'd lose himself to the darkside if he stayed too close to it. Malak however cared more about building his own empire and was not concerned about the Star Forge's corruption.

      A subtlety in KOTOR I is that the creations of the Star Forge: Ships; Droids and Weaponry had the same aspect of The Star Forge, where it would feed upon the dark side of the force within an individual and corrupt the other force energy types light or neutral into darkside energy. This is the reason why the Infinite Empire fell; their society eventually adopted Sith teachings through corruption from their technology and went virtually extinct through infighting.

      @@tkgwildfire5339 That, and another thing that led to the Rakata's decline was a plague that not only killed them, but it cut them off from the Force. The Force powered technology that made them dominant was rendered unusable and the Rakata were vulnerable to uprisings all over their empire

      Except that what we know about Vitiate means that it would be for nothing because he would just feed on that death.
      When you watch these kinds of videos, you can clearly see that the original idea for the True Sith is far different than what we got.
      It wasn't just fighting a Villain Sue that was stupidly OP for no reason, it was going to be a *war of belief.* A war of philosophy, one that the very foundation of the Jedi couldn't defeat.

      @@sirpepeofhousekek6741 true.
      Someone made a video on how the True Sith were originally meant to be. While SWTOR has some charm, its story throws off what KOTOR was leading to.
      We can only hope the KOTOR remake fixes this somehow, and hopefully not another disappointment.....

    It fits with Revan's foresight that he wouldn't want to just brutally destroy all opposition. He wanted to preserve the Republic's infrastructure, rebuild it so it would be strong enough to defeat the True Sith invasion from the Unknown Regions (I imagine the True Sith as Avellone described him, not the Sith emperor which I hated after reading the novel. The Emperor trope has been done with sidious already, the idea that the True Sith were ancient barely human sith lords of immense power who ruled parts of the galaxy sounded way cooler and more interesting to me, so that's headcanon.

      Agreed. SWTOR ruined Legends for me, and Disney ruined Canon.

      Even if the trope's been done before I still think the sheer scale of the enemy maps onto the warning's pretty well. Even if the SW:TOR Empire was very Original-Trilogy in design, it was such a vast and brutal force that I think that fear that ran through Kotor 1 and II of mysterious unknown sith was delivered pretty well.

    Given the dark side version of Revan, this would explain why the Republic would be able to rebound after such a crushing defeat during the battle of Rakata Prime. Revan knew he had to keep the Republic's infrastructure intact, but with his departure, this gave room for the Sith fleet to diminish and turn on itself, while the Republic still was able to churn out their own capital ships and fleets to push back the Sith Armada.

  • @michaelandreipalon359

    And then Revan and the Exile completely beat back this rumored "ancient Sith" threat offscreen without the need of aid from the Republic at all in a KotOR III scenario extremely different from TOR. So much for that.

      Hearing that the true Sith are so Dangerous that Revan did all that mess and then having them defeated by 2 guys would look lame
      I think KOTOR 3 could have been about crippling the True Sith, maybe assassinate targets weaken their base of Power🤔

    • @aamirrazak3467
      @aamirrazak3467 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I would’ve much preferred such a scenario where Revan and the exile journey into the metaphorical “heart of darkness” to undermine and defeat the true Sith largely on their own. Would’ve made for an even more epic conclusion. I never liked how SWTOR handled Revan or the exiles characters or stories

    Literally a deconstruction of the average Stellaris (or any grand strategy game) player.
    Sacrifice some planets of little strategic value to save more important ones.

    This feels like a bit of a retcon. If revan was trying to prepare the galaxy for a sith invasion, why didn’t he just turn the star forge over to the Republic and combine it with their already existing infrastructure rather than risk losing that infrastructure in conquest when he tried to build his own sith empire?

    • @donjohn8699
      @donjohn8699 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      It wasn't his main goal to prepare the galaxy for a sith invasion. He was still a villain and just wanted to build his own sith empire but with the looming threat of the true sith, he saw the value in not just destroying all republic military forces and building from scratch but instead restructuring them to his cause

      I believe it was because Revan knew the galaxy needed to be united as a whole under one effective leader. The Republic is effective up to a point, but given just how much trouble Revan's Sith were giving them, there was no way the Republic's government as it was could stand the brunt of the True Sith.

    • @AGuy-s5v

      The Republic was just that: a republic.
      Tying one's fate (let alone the entire galaxy) to people who don't fully grasp the situation and a 2/3rds majority vote is immensely stupid.
      Besides, the republic was losing to the mandalorians (not powerful sith lords).
      So not only was a person with understanding and vision up for the task, but a mind that can move unimpeded by bureaucracy.

      As G0T0 said, it was a limited resource that would be detrimental in the long run.
      Revan was fighting a war of conversion, to turn the Jedi into capable warriors to withstand the Sith.
      The Star Forge drained entire suns and consumed force wielders, which went against his personal goals for the order.
      He was using it to conquer the Republic, and once it was within his grasp, he would have used the Republic's own resources to sustain it.

    • @philip8498

      Because the republic with its messy and ineffective governments and the jedi with their distaste for anything dark side no matter how practical would have failed to make productive use of the starforge. The jedi would want it destroyed simply because dark side bad. And the republic alone wouldnt even be able to use it given its lack of powerful force users.
