    The fact that she starts by binding him, first in one eye then the other, then stabs him enough to slow him down, rather than just going directly to a throat slit, makes it clear that even at this point Arya is a stone cold assassin.

    I love how this show (and others) often made getting your throat slit seem like it's sleepy time. It's my understanding that you don't just lay over and die but rather there's a fair amount of gurgling and I'm guessing it takes a minute to die of suffocation and/or drowning in your own blood. Maybe I'm wrong. But whatever, seeing Arya get a few extra stabs in there before the finishing blow was satisfying. Meryn had it coming.

      @darkshogun5887 2 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      I would assume the gurgling would only happen if you cut into the wind pipe and blood gets in. Otherwise if you cut too shallow you'd just cut veins and artilleries and the person would bleed out.

    • @kingbugs3558
      @kingbugs3558 2 ปีที่แล้ว +75

      It's not just the suffocation or drowning in blood. It's the sudden loss of blood supplying the brain. That can be pretty much sleepy time. All depends on what's actually cut.

    • @jesusnthedaisychain
      @jesusnthedaisychain 2 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      There's a book, "On Killing" where the author explains that we have a natural repulsion to stabbing people. The impulse is to slice, which is usually ineffective and slow. Soldiers have to be trained to overcome the urge to slice and have to be taught to stab instead. Stabbing the kidneys is usually faster, cleaner, and is generally just more effective if the intention is to kill.

      I never understood how taking a face works for size differences. Like I get it Arya can take Jamie's face and look like him, but how can she be bigger and have a body structure like Jamie?

    • @rhunter42dragon
      @rhunter42dragon 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Arya almost always makes a point of revealing her identity to her victims. I think she believes that to be a vital part of revenge (I agree). The only time she didn't do it was when she poisoned House Frey, and I always felt that took away from that scene. She wouldn't kill Cersei as Jamie. She'd use his face to get close and kill her after revealing herself.

    I still say that Syrio Forel was Jaquen Hgar the faceless man. We never see Syrio killed onscreen, and it doesn't make sense that Syrio could not evade and take out Trant with ease. If Syrio was really Jaquen then it was just the first instance where Arya was manipulated by the Faceless Men to lead her to becoming the assassin who would one day kill the Night King

    • @randallflagg3700
      @randallflagg3700 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It doesn't even work timeline wise, since Jaqen H'ghar was already in the black cells, and waiting to be shipped to the wall when Syrio Forel was giving Arya her last lesson.
      Syrio was good, but Trent had armor, and a big fcking sword... and several Lannister soldiers as back-up, as we saw them getting back to their feet while Arya ran...

    This just reinforces the Hound's words.
    "The greatest swordsman of the world was killed by Meryn Trant? Any whoreboy with a sword could kill 3 Meryn Trant"
    Did they need to make him such a weak pathetic loser? It could have gotten us a bit more tension if he actually avoided the initial ambush, roughed her up a bit, got overconfident and let his guard down, and then slowly realizes in horror he is doomed.
    For a show that constantly talks about how the Kingsguard are the pinnacle of martial prowess, the only ones we actually see with any real skill are Jaime Lannister and Barristan Selmy. Even Ser Arthur Dayne dies like a moron. Wipes the floor with 4 men and then forgets his surroundings and gets backstabbed. This show fell of a cliff so fast...
