  • I combined the two badass clips of Arya Stark killing Walder Frey and all his men in Game of Thrones season 6, ep 10 and season 7, ep 01 opening, simply because I wanted to watch them together. Enjoy!

In the books, people feared the northerners because they were the most ruthless and wild. And in the north, Ned was probably the calmest northerner. He was calm, civil, orderly, and honorable. But ned often worried that Arya was possessed by the wildness. And here, we see what he meant. Arya is the north. Unfortunately, Robb was too much a Tully, and Sansa had to learn through pain how to be a northerner. Arya was always like this. Vicious, cunning, savage, and wild.

"wild" in the sense of unable to think calmly and clearly that could jeopardize survival for the group. You can see the wildness in the Wildlings in general. All the northern lords think wisely except they have a bad habit of thinking other people will keep their word which was ultimately Ned's and Robb's downfall.

@@omelett9 Since you're apparently unfamiliar with the show, the reason that Arya didn't bother to slaughter any of the Frey women is because none of the Frey women had the loyalty to the Frey name that Catelyn, Sansa, and Arya had to the Stark name. Walder's wives were chosen mostly as political maneuvers, most of them were barely a third of his age, and were to him very expendable (remember the one that Catelyn tries to use as a hostage during the Red Wedding). They had no real love for him or for the Frey name, and would have had no interest in avenging the Freys after Arya slaughtered the male side of the house. None of his daughters (trueborn or bastard) had the mind for the game, as most had been married off or were not interested in politics. Furthermore, none of them were directly involved in the events of the Red Wedding, whereas virtually all of the Frey males gathered in this scene were. And given that Arya found out about the Frey-Lannister plot that let to the massacre of the Starks, she would have known if any Frey women had been involved and probably would have killed them too.

One of the best scenes in the show and totally consistent with her character. The Faceless Men concept devolved from elegantly morphing into people to some crappy rubber mask moment, but the scene is still great. 5:02 Cheering for "Walder Frey" (even when you know he's actually Arya) feels so... off. This is a character that nobody likes and is basically a pure capital-V Villain. For "his" last scene to use his obvious disdain and disregard for human life in a *positive* way is just so oddly fulfilling.
It's like - oh good, the jerk nobody likes is now punishing my *enemies* instead of me.

Jennifer Brewer I don't think so, don't get me wrong, I love Arya, she is a total badass, but I don't think she would make a good queen. Arya doesn't have much experience as a leader, or poltically savy, she more like a lone wolf, doing things herself and is a fighter not a leader, she also tends to be single minded, for example her desire for revenge regardless of the consequences, she doesn't look a the big picture or cares. She also doesn't have the charisma to inspire people around her or the patience get them to convince them to her. For example Arya even suggested executing the lords who were considering abandoning Jon, unlike Sansa who wanted placate them until Jon returned. Honestly Lyanna Mormont would be more suited as a Queen of the North than Arya, Lyanna has experience being a leader, she has the Charisma to inspire people and rally them arround her and she clearly has the respect of other lords, despite her age, just look at the meetings with the Northern lords.
