As an Indian Architect, I can confirm that EVERY SINGLE architect in India is told and taught about auroville in the first semester itself...and it is a dream place to visit for us. Our school is under the Sri Aurobindo Institute of Culture, every year the class 7 students are taken to Auroville, it is the most beautiful place I've ever been to. Especially the Matrimandir, not only is it a marvel to look at, the inner chamber is so peaceful and serene, the silence is deafening. Extremely underrated, more people should visit it. The local saying goes, "If the Mother and Sri Aurobindo want you in Auroville, nothing can stop you from coming to Auroville!"

India was mildly Fabian socialist (or as Indians call it Nehruvian socialist) until 1991 when poverty and high debt forced it to liberalize its economy by IMF. Now, India is getting progressively more capitalist every year and has been growing at a rapid pace with massive poverty reductions (220 million people out of poverty since 1991 according to World Bank estimates). Shifting from quasi-democractic socialism to liberal capitalism is the best thing has India done in the recent history. It's almost like a new independence

They don't have religion but it surely is a Hindu Yogi way of life not Communism I mean aurobindo was nationalist himself
That which we call the Hindu religion is really the Eternal religion because it embraces all others.
To listen to some devout people, one would imagine that God never laughs.
    2 of 2
India of the ages is not dead nor has she spoken her last creative word; she lives and has still something to do for herself and the human peoples.

It was Mirra Alfassa AKA Sree Maa who established Auroville. The idea of Auroville was actually to create a commune on a spiritual(force-free and thus it's not an ashram) and universal basis. The term spirituality here means is to feel one's true existence free from every pre-concieved ideas of nationality or anything which makes it universal.
If one go through sree maa's association with venerable J Krishnamurthy he'll find that She was deeply inclined towards Buddhist philosophy.

I saw the Maatri Mandir from the outside but unfortunately I wasn't allowed in due to the fact that I wasn't from auroville and also the place is very diverse, most people there speak french but you can also find germans and sometimes austrians.

There isnt any literally any good ecnomic zone in kerala which can employ their own people.
