Aghoris are deeply rooted in Hindu mythology and philosophy, particularly in the worship of Lord Shiva. They are known for their intense devotion to Shiva and their belief in the pursuit of moksha (liberation from the cycle of reincarnation) through extreme practices. Some of the rituals and practices associated with Aghoris include: 1. Meditation and rituals performed in cremation grounds: Aghoris believe that cremation grounds are sacred places where the divine presence of Lord Shiva is particularly potent. They meditate and perform rituals amidst cremation pyres to confront the reality of death and impermanence. 2. Consumption of intoxicants and taboo substances: Aghoris often consume substances like alcohol, cannabis, and meat, including from sources typically considered impure, as a way to challenge societal norms and transcend dualities. 3. Use of human skulls and other macabre objects: Aghoris may use human skulls as bowls for rituals, believing that the skull represents the seat of the mind and that by using it, they can confront the impermanence of the physical body and transcend ego. 4. Nudity and unconventional behavior: Some Aghoris may engage in practices such as remaining nude or wearing minimal clothing as a symbol of shedding societal conditioning and embracing their true nature. It's important to note that while Aghoris engage in practices that may seem extreme or taboo to outsiders, their ultimate goal is spiritual liberation. They believe that by confronting and transcending societal taboos and dualities, they can attain a higher state of consciousness and union with the divine. However, not all practitioners of Aghorism engage in the same practices, and there can be variations in beliefs and behaviors among individuals and lineages.
Is this passed down in certain families? You said lineages? Very interesting 😊 Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! It's very interesting learning about others spiritually! ...

@@christinawelsh3417 While Aghoris are often associated with Tantric practices, it’s important to note that not all Tantric practitioners are Aghoris, and vice versa. Aghori lineages typically trace their origins back to renowned saints and gurus who imparted their teachings to select disciples. These lineages preserve and pass down specific rituals, mantras, and spiritual knowledge unique to their tradition. Aghori lineages may also have distinct philosophical perspectives, interpretations of scripture, and approaches to spiritual practices. However, due to the secretive nature of Aghori traditions and the diversity among practitioners, detailed information about specific lineages and their teachings may be limited to insiders and scholarly research.

baba needs to be featured on their next album with a voice like that lol.
A cannibal kills people for food, an anthropophagist eats e.g.dead people so he should be considered rather an anthropophagist than a cannibal.
Even for a pious Hindu, this is very scary and weird…
That is because we Modern day Hindus are only exposed to Mainstream Hinduism. Shiva is the Greatest Aghori, Many have forgotten this. He lives in the Grave and has serpents around him, While covered in Ashes.

Thanks for filming all these unusual & informative videos, its really an eye opening to this world!!! Not easy at all for u to come this far & taking all types of risks on urself just to shoot a great video!!!
You always find a way to tell the most unique stories in places you’d least expect it. Really respect your commitment to discovering things that are out of the ordinary. I’d love to use the GoPro to document my daily life in China. As an expat living in China for several years now, I’ve always wanted to provide a better glimpse into the unique world I experience here on a daily basis. Having a GoPro would definitely help a lot in bringing that vision to life.
Hey Drew.I watched this with my son and aged mom.My mom could not believe someone would be drinking from a human skull as it's so uncommon and unseen.Your videos have helped us travel the world from a screen which is absolutely amazing.Having learnt that you began that at 26 I am challenged to begin documenting too.Good job.Travel to Bhutan next,i hear they have unsual believes.I would love to begin by documenting Tanzania and uganda
Wow, Drew! This video truly left me speechless. It's incredible to witness the dedication and traditions at Manikarnika Ghat. Thank you for sharing this powerful experience with us! 🙏
I'm glad that you already visited the Philippines and I hope you will make some documentary vlogs again here

wow... thanx for your amazing coverage of Varanasi... Baba cracks me up. You deserve an academy award for your video content, and your willingness to go places others have not. I find it interesting that he is not drinking the blood of living bodies, but fresh corpses. Kali is an inter-dimensional power, and the blood is a sacrament to her. The question that arises in my Soul is what comes first ... the chicken or the egg? Meaning, appeasing the Gods and Gods is only only a means to an end, or the end unto itself?
Fun Fact: The last cannibal tribe are actually in the Indonesian side of Papua Guinea island.

Nope, search for North Sentinel Island, INDIA. Tribe there still practices the cannibalism to this day.
No, there's no evidence that they eat the people they kill. The nearest tribes were never cannibals although thet were also very hostile to outsiders originally.

I also met this aghori baba on the ghats in Varanasi and he is not scary at all, maybe impressive but not scary. He is a joyful, smiling, cheerful and sweet baba. Aghoris are deeply rooted in Hindu mythology and philosophy, particularly in the worship of Lord Shiva. They are known for their intense devotion to Shiva and their belief in the pursuit of moksha (liberation from the cycle of reincarnation) through extreme practices.
Some of the rituals and practices associated with Aghoris include:
It's very interesting learning about others spiritually! ...
@@christinawelsh3417no aghoris didn't marry apart from varanasi you don't find aghoris in city they mostly live in villages and forest if you want more information read Robert svobada trilogy on ahoris.
I want to hear from darshan who made the comment. I want to know what his comment on lineage? I've already read a lot I'm extremely well educated it's his thoughts I'm after, but thank you
@@christinawelsh3417 While Aghoris are often associated with Tantric practices, it’s important to note that not all Tantric practitioners are Aghoris, and vice versa.
