    You're wrong mate on at least one thing: I come from a 981S, now I own a 718 Spyder and soon I'll get a Spyder RS. The manual roof in the Spyder is a pain at first but despite that it's so so much special and better to drive, both slowly and hard. It's a whole another level. It's really worth double the price. Cheers from Italy

    Thanks Andrew - nice to see your 981 GTS for the last time. I'm still enjoying the base 981 that you sold me in 2015! We've been all over the alps in it - Stelvio pass, Susten pass, Great St Bernard pass, Bernina pass, Furkka pass, I could go on - epic experiences. Hopefully you won't miss this car too much!

    Slightly optimistic price in my opinion. End of summer and a tough economic climate

    • @volkswizard
      @volkswizard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can only go by Autotrader’s valuation though they might be being optimistic so it doesn’t sell and they get more ad revenue. There are 16 for sale but not many in Carmine red, and of those is there a climate/cruise/heated seats/park assist car? I’d rule out any GTS that got different wheels or leather interior - plenty of those as dealers up sold GTS to S buyers who didn’t care about it looking like a true GTS

    Your mic volume / quality is not right Sir.

    • @hawaiirealmedia5610
      @hawaiirealmedia5610 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Regarding the sound quality: What you're hearing is distortion that comes from several issues including recording at too high levels to a wireless mic transmitter screwing up. Not only distortion but compression, where the voice sounds extremely flat with no dynamics; almost as if the sound is hitting a barrier, so all the words sound like they are flattened out and loud. i.e. unnaturally even. (I am a sound engineer) In addition, voice to ambient sound levels make it hard to hear the voice. Note that getting perfectly balanced audio when doing something like this is not easy and most non-professionals will make errors. It's tricky.

    Great review of awesome car. Can't believe you're selling it but then I sold my 981 spyder and am currently also 90 mins from Venice in Slovenia in my 986 stop gap while waiting for my 4.0 GTS to arrive. Really any Boxster is an amazing touring car from £5k to £125k, there is so much choice. Looking forward to whats next, I'm guessing a league up but not a Porsche, perhaps a McLaren ??? Another great touring car. Its got to be good to replace a Boxster!

    one thing I wonder, is it worth a 20k premium over a 2.7? I'd wager the 2.7 does most of the same things but for a lot less. Would be an interesting comparison.

    • @volkswizard
      @volkswizard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've driven a 2.7 and it's pretty lame, makes a lot of noise but doesn't really go anywhere with that gearing - honestly it's not a very Porsche experience and put me of 981s until a journo said try and S or GTS and he was right. Also there a degree of intangible appeal with a special edition Porsche, you could say a base Carrera does most of what a Carrera GTS does but it's the details.

    As you have owned two of my favourite cars and I am about to buy one, which did you prefer, the Audi R8 or the Porsche Boxster GTS. I struggle to make up my mind. They both have pluses..

    • @volkswizard
      @volkswizard  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For me it’s the Boxster GTS as R8 is a bit hefty in comparison yet packaging is poor. Plus R8 js thirsty and not much faster and it’s a bit gold medallion while Porsche is more subtle & classier (and you don’t have to visit an Audi main dealership ever again 😬)

    PCM was an option on them, that other person was correct. The CDR unit was the standard with no nav and a lower resolution screen.
    They were wrong though on the steering wheel. The sports design wheel was standard on the GTS.

    • @volkswizard
      @volkswizard  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks James, appreciate that a lot. That makes it nearly £10k of options then

    • @jameslove888
      @jameslove888 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@volkswizardit’s not an option but there’s a way to make the car slightly more comfortable as well. There’s a setting in the binnacle to the right of the Speedo to set the car into comfort pressures.
      it's only applicable for cars with 20" wheels and involves running at 30 psi (cold) instead of the more usual 33 psi (cold).
      20" wheels can give an excessively firm ride for many drivers and are often bought for cosmetic reasons - hence the reason for giving customers an "official" way when they complain about a harsh ride.
      It’s at the trade off of some sharpness but it’s how I run mine as a daily just for a slight bit more comfort.

      That's very kind Nick. It's a stretch trying to push Porsche content on effectively a VW channel but I always felt the 981 was an affordable and enjoyable way into Porsche ownership, even this GTS is cheaper than a Mk8 Golf R for example. Great little synopsis. I wish I were brave enough to buy a car from auction! You've got the "knowledge" and made a really good purchase and I'm sure your return on the investment will be good. I would love a Boxster, they're a proper sports car!

    • @volkswizard
      @volkswizard  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks Paul. To be honest it was a gamble but what reduced a lot of risk was the one owner bit and the full service history with Porsche which I was able to verify. Someone who bought a Porsche from new and kept it for a long time (rather than flogged it on for investment) is probably OK. Ones to watch are the GT cars that might have been crashed by the first owner, plenty of those about so I'd only buy one from a main dealer.

    This is a lovely car, and a great sales video! I’ve watched this a couple of times, and the autotrader video too(!), and would love it if I had the space cash and space for it. Best priced and combo on the market, with a great catalogue of history and videos. One lucky lucky owner to come. Just watched the STG video on the Spyder RS, and to be honest, it made me think even more about just how good (and uncompromised), the 6cyl GTS is. What a car.

      @volkswizard  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much, that's really good to hear particularly your comments on price/condition/spec. Glad you spotted the sales video too, I originally linked this video but realised buyers need a more potted version and first impressions are important. I haven't watched STG's video on Spyder RS but have watched Matt Farah's and it really is a case of the law of diminishing returns especially because they couldn't fit the auto hood because the engine was too big so had to do that bloody stupid tent instead. Still, if I had the means I probably wouldn't say no seeing as it can make you some cash tax free and be fun to own as well :)
