    It definitely has potential, but I don't see myself using it for now. I don't use the default menus enough to warrant a makeover and I have no intention to use scripts at the moment. Also, when I need a break I simply pause the sim. I use the sim to experience it, not just to give my computer something to do. So no point in letting it keep flying on its own when I'm not around. Also, every addon is a possible source for problems (the top menu integration for Flight Control Replay v5 always makes the sim crash as soon as I press the button to start the flight, for example).

  • @tb100

    The thing I'm looking for is: (1) ability to change livery or aircraft mid-flight, and (2) change airfield with drop-down menu while flying (like we have in FSX/P3D/XP). I absolutely hate having to go back to the main menu first and then to the set-up world menu for any change in those three items (livery/aircraft/airfield). In fact I hate it so much that I hardly fly MSFS anymore and have moved over to X-Plane 12, which also has my favourite instant fly-by view!

    • @Parallel42
      @Parallel42 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for understanding that it's beyond our control. The moment they allow vetted developers to release freeware, we would do just that and unleash the Flow (free) tier on Xbox as well. However that's not currently the case, so we've built Essentials to work in the confines of the console space, expect it in the coming months!

    9:02 Well, we have had a addon for quite a long time that removes that handlebar so you never see it when you move the cursor but the menu is still there.

    • @AvAngel
      @AvAngel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, had that for a while when the toolbar was just STUCK there.

    • @Parallel42
      @Parallel42 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, if that's all you're after it works pretty well, but it's not the ideal approach to menu management. Hovering an invisible space with the hopes that it comes up will never be faster than a click and having everything you need centimeters away. But don't take our word for it, give it a run when we release. Flow (free) will include our bundled redesign of the default toolbar too, just as an added feature. But you'll need to first disable your current toolbar mod.

    • @WhiteHawk77
      @WhiteHawk77 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Parallel42 my post wasn’t to suggest it was a different option to your tool, only that I’ve seen many that don’t know the mod to remove the handlebar is available, including those that have taken nice screenshots only for it to be spoiled by that. I don’t have a problem with bringing up the toolbar even with the handlebar gone as I know where to place the cursor, but I’m not suggesting it makes any difference to the speed of use or that it’s as fast as your tool.
      Disable the toolbar mod? are you saying this utility will conflict with this mod I use to remove the handlebar that appears for the normal toolbar, because that’s a no go for me, I find that appearing with every move of the cursor very annoying.
      That also seems strange as it appears your utility doesn’t remove the original toolbar, it appears to be a separate thing, so are you sure about that? Are you saying you are completely replacing the original toolbar on top of having this separate and different interface? I hope that’s not the case as if anything these would complement each other, no need to move the cursor to the top to get the toolbar options AND no handlebar appearing to annoyingly remind me where the original toolbar is, that would be a win win for me.
      If it’s the case that there is a conflict I seriously hope you include an option to remove the handlebar as I can’t consider using, let alone purchasing this if I can’t stop that stupid design decision from popping up at any mouse movement.

    • @Parallel42
      @Parallel42 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WhiteHawk77 flow has the option to completely remove the Microsoft flight simulator toolbar. And of course an elegant option to bring it right back with a single click. Additionally you have the option to let flow "mod" the toolbar for a more elegant approach to its use. Naturally you can't have two toolbar mods active, so you will have to choose one.

    "It's nice that we can have the same thing with horrible ports. Consoles have limitations. They're made to be simple."
    As a Console Simmer, THANK YOU for saying this. I'm still blown away over having the Sim on my Xbox, and there's nothing wrong with that. There are some diehard outliers who believe we're "below" them, but at the end of the day, we all have the same passion.

    Honestly, the whole radial menu thing leaves me completely cold. I'm not bothered at all by having to move my mouse to the top of the screen, and i've been hiding that little "hook" that shows up when you move your mouse via a convenient Flightsim.to mod for a good while.
    HOWEVER! I'm curious to see the custom weather, weights & balances etc. windows. Because frankly, especially the latter is complete and total rubbish in default, with numbers and sliders jumping all over the place. Also, maybe, just maybe they'll have the option to switch/convert units conveniently, without having to change the sim's entire system to metric or imperial in the options. One can dream.

    • @AvAngel
      @AvAngel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On its own, just a menu replacement is... convinient but not a world breaker, the replacement PAGES however coming are really really exciting as is the potential for 3rd party widgets and custom feature support for aircraft and other module developers to build in convinient control.

      FSUIPC can do that. You can set joystick buttons, axis sensitivity, encoders and keyboard assignments all on a per-aircraft basis. I've used it since the FS2004 days. Takes a bit of reading / watching TH-cam tutorials, but once it's set up, it's seamless. It detects what plane you have loaded, and applies your custom control assignments automatically without any user interaction.

    If you have head/eye tracking, the location of the default Asobo menus means that your focal point leaves the 3D world location you want to look at in order to view the menu. This then often forces you to disable head/eye tracking until you're done manipulating menus. If this allows or puts the menu at the center of your focal point no matter where you're looking, it is a huge plus.

    From my POV (game style) Flow is completelly useless 😮‍💨 I now understand why Skypark has not received improvments since a year ! Flow does a lot of things but it only presents same things as original MSFS with a better design (MSFS toolbar is horrible) or add functions that I don't use because it is used to play arcade style (click shortcuts instead of interacting with cockpit as an example) Flow is opposite to simulation gameplay. By the way the design is excellent (which is the best force at //42).
    Now it is released (and as they create software without any bugs 🤐), I really hope they will work hard on Skypark v3. I'm hyped with v3 but sceptic about new features 🤞🙏
    THIS IS MY THOUGHTS (keep cool on replies 😉)

    • @AvAngel
      @AvAngel  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd disagree, Flow has functions you can't access in the cockpit, some things yes are replacements for cockpit stuff, but i love the doors, ( a hastle in the sim itself sometimes to reach and open/close) the sim's metar system blows, calculators... allsorts of little nice simplifcations that make it a more simulated experience rather than having to fly my camera around to do things that I could just reach.

      I run multi monitor myself, if you're not tabbed into the main window it doesn't come up, not sure about popped out sim windows, but i suspect if its a window you can open the menu on in sim, it will work, if not, it won't.
