    Hi all NLR have confirmed to me SU12 changed the way some of the telemetry data is used. Some may be having connection problems. A new beta is under test right now to correct these problems I was informed yesterday. Can’t get the software running?
    Problems connecting. Try this..
    1. Inside the HFS homepage, uncheck the "show installed" box
    2. Navigate to the HFS Software settings and turn off "automatically detect current game”.
    3. Close the HFS Software completely (including from the icon tray down the bottom right-hand side of the taskbar)
    4. Start MSFS2020 and get into a flight using a default MSFS2020 aircraft
    5. Once you are on the tarmac, start the HFS software from scratch and click on the MSFS2020 profile.

    Hi Mark, great report. I went ahead and bought this product ($226 in the US). It is indeed a big immersion add-on. After a while you start recognizing little subtle differences. Like when the plane is working harder in an ascend, or under stress. I'm also trying to nuance using the different motors at different intensities for specific effects, to get even more feel out of it. Here is one thing I would challenge NextLevel Racing with: Different feeling for type of ground to taxi on (asphalt, grass, dirt).

Unfortunately it doesn't work with the Astro One which I was really looking forward too and there is no real change in helicopters between idle and full collective, which is a shame. It's a lot of fun though and a great addition to my cockpit! Wonderful in the Spitfire but could do with more rumble at idle! I have also tried Buttkicker. The issue I had with the 'seat pad' was that it felt like the movement was being transmitted directly to points on my body, where the Buttkicker shook the entire chair, which I thought was far more realistic and immersive. Interested in hearing your thoughts about my observation if you wouldn't mind.

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Valid comments, the Buttkicker is a very direct device, which if anything can overdo the vibration effect. Modern aircraft don’t shake and rattle that much arguably. The seat pad is far more subdued and subtle.

    Hi Mark. I liked the video and it will be interesting to see your future updates using this haptic feedback seat. Maybe Jets and airliners? Also with a large amount of wind and turbulence?
    You should arrange a visit with Steve VR Flight Sim Guy, as he has a similar seat but using transducers (U-Shake Haptic feedback seat pad by Sim Racing Studio) He did a review of this on 15 Dec 2022 if you haven't seen it. It would be very interesting to see a review from someone who had tried both.
    The HF8 Haptic Feedback Seat Pad from NextLevel Racing is a lot cheaper than the Sim Racing Studio seat pad.

      I'm also curious to hear about the comparison results. Ahead of time though, I can say that simracer Karl Gosling did a (verbal) review on the HF8 and he was pretty underwhelmed, stating that the effects are laggy and less powerful compared to the transducer-based U-Shake6. I can imagine that effect lag plays a much bigger role when racing, compared to flying an airplane.

    Most people believe the feel of acceleration, of being pressed into their seats, comes from being pushed back by an increase in gravity, when in fact it comes from the accelerating aircraft pushing forward. I believe it's what's called "false gravity." It looks as if the HP8 takes full advantage of it.

    Can you increase the intensity of the vibrations on landing? That and take-off, is when you really feel vibrations in RL.

    • @SimHangerFS

      Yes you can activate all spinners and dial it up to 100%. Still not as much as a Buttkicker though, it is a different experience. 👍

    Another great review, Mark. Thanks so much. It's $230 USD at Amazon so I put it in my wishlist for now.
    I was admiring your setup and though I also have the Honeycomb Alpha, I can't use it without my rudder pedals. I saw you also have the Turtle Beach pedals as I do. Unfortunately, I have hardwood floors and a chair with wheels. Pushing rudder pedals moves the chair back. I even tried a carpet but without success. The chair still moves. Locking casters are too much a problem (hard to reach and lock). Do you know if anyone makes an office or gaming chair (with wheels, of course) that have an easy lock mechanism for the casters. There is always a lever for height adjustment; just wished someone would invent one that locks the wheels just as easily.
    Anyhow, thanks again from across the pond.

    • @kevpilot07
      @kevpilot07 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a bit basic but I use a 3/4 inch square length of timber (it was a garden stake) that fits between the gap in the casters. My chair stands on one of those vinyl carpet protectors which is quite slippery but the chair doesn't move when I am pushing against the pedals and is still easy to move when you get up. I only take the timber out when I need to move the chai to vacuum the floor.

    • @SimHangerFS
