@Adam J. Harper I know. She did it for the King since it was his order. At the same time, once the King gave out his order, Pitou cried. That was the first time she felt emotion. So one could argue that not only did she heal Komugi for the King, but she was doing it out of empathy for Komugi as well. But in my original comment, I was merely just saying for Gon's case, in his eyes that he couldn't believe that she was saving and healing a human, yet she took another human's life. (Kite).
I would still kill the Antz. Id rather stick with humans than deal with man eating monsters.
Killua hesitates to tell anything to Gon because he fear to lose him as a friend. In previous episodes he been thinking about it more and more. And when he tell him to get it together is when it all goes down, which is why Killua looks sad and why go becomes distant.
Also Gon goes berserk for same reason he went berserk in Phantom Troupe hideout. In eyes of Gon they are all monster incapable of love and care, so when Pitou tries to save Komugi, it throws everything Gon believes in out of the window. As far as Gon knows Pitou is a monster and when his rage meets Pitous resolve to save Komugi, all the rage Gon been saving for Pitou no longer had target, which upsets him to the point he was about to become a monster himself. When he said "To hell with it" it's Gon no longer caring about what is right or wrong, he just going to attack because it's Pitou.

I think that gon's rage is more because of pitou caring for one and killing another, just like he did with one of the spiders. They killed a lot of people, but "cried" when one of them died

Gon lacks self awareness, he does that and is friend with someone who does that and it’s completely fine. In actuality, Pitou had a legit reason to kill Kite as he was attacking the nest and planned to exterminate the queen
@@Darshe0 you have a point. The chimeras are doing what their instinct tells them to do. And for them humans are just food like how we humans eats meats. And actually they don't know the right from wrong too despite having a humans features (but maybe the more they learn, the more they know).
Remember at the start of this series,everyone though Gon is the light while an assassin like Killua is darkness??well,now its the opposite.
Killua is definitely the better person of the two. Gon's moral compass is scary. They are both fantastically written characters though.

S B so Gon being fine with an innocent girl as a collateral to his revenge makes him a better person than someone who was raised to kill by his parents and knew no better but started to value life more as the series progressed. Your assumption that Killua might kill for money again shows that you either haven't seed the end of his character arc(the end of the anime) or didn't understand it.

@@addollz6192 Lack of source material wouldn't be a big deal as far ahead as it is as long as HxH was released regularly. They're far enough ahead they could totally make an anime and finish a season before they caught up even if releases were monthly.

This is where everything becomes so grey. We see the "bad guys" doing morally good actions, and the "good guys" doing morally bad actions.
You see Chimera Ants point of view and Hunters point of view at the same time, and that makes really hard to define a villain, since everyone is a hero or a villain in their own stories.
This is one of the things that makes this arc so damn good
Tbh at this point, I don't think it's grey at all. Yeah, pitou is trying to save one girl but I don't think that all of sudden makes the chimera ants kinda good guys. Especially after all the other kids, they have killed. At this point, they are still villains I don't see how saving one girl changes that.

Chimera Ants are actually only feeding themselves. Yeah, is true, some of them are really bad and sadistic, but a lot of them are eating humans because we are their food. Is not our fault that we are more nutritious than other animals, but is not their fault either.
They can survive without eating humans, but expecting them to stop eating humans because we have feelings is like expecting humans to stop eating animals and only eat vegetables because animals suffer.
Even if some of them were human before, they don't have laws, or something that tells them "killing this human is wrong", they obey an instinct, an instinct that tells them that they need to be fed and they need to feed their Queen. In their minds, they are not doing something wrong, they are only feeding themselves.
Of course that doesn't make them innocent, neither I justify all the horrible things that they did. But Chimera Ants are to humans what humans are to animals.

I dont think people understand Pitou. She is not as much of a villian as people think she is. She is just a protector and has personality. For people who get angry at her for attacking Kite. They were invading the Chimera Ants territory and humans were either food for the queeen or a threat to them. It's only natural to attack an intruder who could be a threat to the King. She was personally one of my favourite characters in this Arc because out of all the royal guards, she didn't want to change the King and stayed loyal to what he wanted from the start.

Yes! And to add to this: The worst things that Pitou does, she does on the day she's born, before having any chance to develop any signs of humanity. Pouf and to an extent, Youpi, remained stagnant, the same over time. (I'd argue Pouf became even worse) whereas Pitou, the more she was exposed to humans, especially Komugi and Gon, you coulf see her developing bits of humanity in her. She cried for the king about Komugi, she felt sorry for what she did to Kite, she allowed Gon to cry over Kite, without killing him while he was vulnerable. Literally, at the end before Gon goes into rage mode, Pitou is exactly the same as Meruem was at the end, the *only* reason she was going to kill Gon, was because she thought he could be a threat to the king, and her suspicions were soon confirmed minutes later.
If it weren't for the fact that Gon killed her then, she would've made it back to Meruem, she would've seen his change in heart towards humans, and *unlike* Youpi and especially Pouf, she would've been totally ok with living with the humans in peace as long as Meruem accepted that life. As the only royal guard who wasn't near the poor man's rose after it's explosion, she would've probably lived on, after Youpi, Pouf and even Meruem died. Now, considering that she's a royal guard, it's entirely possible that she would kill herself after Meruem died, because she still has that unwavering loyalty to the king of course, but I think another possibility is that she would've lived on, possibly to attempt to carry out the king's goodwill, and try to make peace with the humans, just as some ants actually did. The only reason people hate her so much is because of what she did to Pokkle and Kite, which are, as I've said, things she did *before* she had the chance to develop signs of humanity. It's not her fault. It's the equivalent of blaming a wild animal for taking advantage of another wild animal. It's stupid.
@@TheRickakamax No, Pitou is not given a gender but Pitou definitely has the soul of Female or Pitou wouldn't act like one or be voiced to sound like a girl.
lDaRkl lReVaNl sounds like you are projecting a preconceived standard of what female is. The character was written as a male and I don't believe Pitou ever expressed a preference to a gender or sexual orientation. The pronouns given were male and to judge based upon outward appearance can be misleading. I believe gender orientation has been taken into account in the writing. When killua's brother Alluka was introduced as a male, killua confirmed that she was female and treated her as a sister. Now do these details effect the story? No not directly but in that example one could infer that killua has a good relationship with alluka because he understands and respects his sisters choices. I think hunter x has thoughtful enough writing that we can trust everything was written and stated for a reason and we can accept details at face value as given to us,

This man is over 67 years old and this is the first time that ever happened! Must have been frustrating AF. Idk, I thought that was very interesting....

This arc is so beautiful, perfectly portrays how the Evilest of monsters have some human in them and contrarily how the kindest of souls have a dormant monster within.

The interaction between Gon, Pitou and Killua in Episode 116 is the most intense scene I have ever seen in any series/movie/game.

I just realized all those scenes with darkness like the window and the door was the sign of Gon's descent to darkness. And before this we've been seeing Killua be Ikalgo's light which was what Gon was to Killua pre-chimera ant arc. Also Ikalgo best boi.

They should totally react to Killua's Journey to Self-Worth on Alec's second channel too Alec's Scattered Thoughts I think, and maybe some other videos like The Unusual Dynamics of the Zoldyck Family and other HxH videos on Alec's original channel, esp the ones on CA arc characters and the other MCs, there is a lot of good HxH videos by him, but those are some of my favs.

Completely agree with you guys. After this arc, people said he became a monster, and sometimes even that he was like the Phantom troupe or Meruem. People seem to forget that it is much more complex than it looks. Gon is a kindhearted person who has his flaws but at the end of the day, he lost it because he got played by his enemies during a fckin WAR and he DIDNT kill Komugi btw. A lot of the same people are saying Killua is a better person than Gon. I’m truly sorry (killua’s one my favs too) but Killua even if he was raised to be this way, he has always been mature enough to identify the situation and what is right or wrong. And when he used to murder people, don’t tell me that when he didn’t enjoy it ! Look at his expressions when he kills people, sometimes he enjoys being a savage (i like it too tho). Gon is definetely the kindest person on the show.

@@azimiwassim5627 I can mostly agree with you but Gons Morality fuctionally isnt right. If you are useful to him he will accept you even though you may have done some questionable things and seems to lead to hypocrisy from Gon. Its even been pointed out in the Greed Island arc how Gon doesn't actually care about right or wrong as long as the person or situation seems "interesting" to him.
Killua on the other hand had a very tortuous up bringing(Way worse than Gon just not having Ging around). Being an assassin and all. However meeting gon really started to slowly change him over time to the point where he calls Gon "light". He truly cares for Gon and his well-being at this point willing to train and go through hardships with him. Killua gets a positive character arc and Gon gets a negative character arc. There roles were reversed.
Gon: Tries to find his dad, helped friends and saved a lot of people, gets mad when someone important to him sacrifice, would do nothing to you if you don't kill fellows around him.
Force pitou to go by using komugi but didn't kill her->monster
Meruem: Literally killed his mother internationally at his birth, would kill his guards if they even try to lie to him, planning on genocide.

Late comment but i wanted for episode 116 express a huge shoutout to Tofu for kinda figuring out about gon reaction to pitou healing komugi, to Mad house for this high level animation and of course to Han Megumi ( voice actress of gon) for the amazing work to show the feeling of gon. AMAZING EPISODE, one of the best of all time, PERIODE.
I told you guys a few episodes ago that you were in for one real hell of an emotional rollercoaster over the next twenty to thirty episodes... it's only just getting started... I expect that there will be laughs of joy, and tears of sadness in your future...

The problem about Gon is him having a very weak mentality compared to Killua. He was always blown by his emotion and apparently loses control over himself.

In the manga Gon was even closer to Kite, it was written out of the anime, but in chapter one Kite visited Gon Island and spent time with him for a bit and told Gon about hi dad who he thought was dead until that point

not only killua that stay calm and collected, but zoldycks, they've been traines that way...
Just a heads up the aura people use isn't added to APR's counter, when the aura lent from attacks + interest added to the aura they've already used = their total thats when they go bust. When Gon and Knuckle fought Gon's total was around 20000? I think, after using two jajankens which were stated to be 4000 and his interest went over 10000 he tried to use a 3rd and went bust. So the counter on youpi isn't going to go up because of his nen explosion but he IS using his aura up which is making him get closer to going bust.
Gon voice actor performance at 116 honestly deserve an oscar award, that was the best voice acting performance I've ever heard/seen in my life....NANDEDAYOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I cant see episode 116 without cry, I dont know why, but I can feel what Gon is feeling, I think the voice actors made an incredible job for this episode, and the animation was powerfull too, all that conbinated made an exellent episode 10/10.
I believe the reason Killua's family put a needle in his head is to protect him from death and control him, if Killua don't have a needle in his head, he would have run away from his family the moment he started assassin training, since he's scared of Illumi, he won't fight his brother because of fear, "Never fight an enemy you can't beat" is what his family taught him
One of the greatest voice acting performances of all time in episode 116. I'm not one to cry when watching films or tv shows, but my heart genuinely broke for Gon that episode. And I can only credit that to the voice actor.

Sylva and Zeno knew about Illumi’s needed because the reason behind it was to force Killua to run away from any opponent that he thought was stronger than him. So they purposefully had Illumi place the needle because they know Killua is a prodigy and growing stronger rapidly and want to maintain a sense of control over him because as long as Killua thought they were stronger than him he wouldn’t rebel or fight against them. As the anime progresses you’ll see have Killua becomes more spiteful and disregards his family much more.
