That's all right. I grew up in the 70's but absolutely loved golden oldies of the 50's. Now I listen to a lot of blues(delta blues mostly) big band, and rat pack stuff from the 40's. Music can be a great journey!
This may be controversial, but I think this live version of Black Dog (the 1973 US tour version) sucks and is NOT better than the album version, not even close. They used a different live instrumental intro (Bring It on Home instead of Out on the Tiles) and Robert sings the lyrics in a different melody (out of necessity though). Early on in their careers though, their live performances were undoubtedly even better than the records. Listen to the band's performance of Black Dog in Belfast 1971 on TH-cam - It's undoubtedly the most powerful vocal performance of Robert's that was *EVER* recorded, and it's a damn shame that the concert wasn't professionally recorded so the best recording we have of the Belfast performance is a crappy bootleg recording that some audience member took with a portable tape recorder that was hidden under a coat or something. The greatest mistake I think Zeppelin ever made was not professionally filming and recording more of their early shows, especially from 1970-1973. The Madison Square Garden 1973 concerts are IMO not the best representation of Led Zeppelin and doesn't feature them in their peak. Sure, the instrumental side of the band were all arguably in their best form here, but Robert is obviously unable to keep up. Nonstop touring and concerts permanently damaged Robert's voice and by the 1973 tours he could barely sing any of the band's songs as they were originally recorded. The difference in quality, range and power in Robert's voice between 1971 and 1973 is unbelievable, and I promise you that his performance in this concert was NOWHERE near what Robert was able to do just a few years prior. If the The Song Remains The Same movie was filmed and recorded in 1971 instead of 1973, I guarantee you it'd be the greatest live concert album in music history.

People often revere John Bonham, Robert Plant, and Jimmy Page, and rightly so, but they tend to forget John Paul Jones. Led Zeppelin was composed of four geniuses, all extraordinarily talented musicians.
It was actually John Paul Jones who wrote the main riff in this song.
Something tells me Jonesy has the most peace of mind.😊

Just about 24, but proud to say I grew up in 70’s!
Welcome youngster 👍🏽
That's all right. I grew up in the 70's but absolutely loved golden oldies of the 50's. Now I listen to a lot of blues(delta blues mostly) big band, and rat pack stuff from the 40's. Music can be a great journey!
One of the few bands who can sound as good live as they do in the album. 😄
Better than the record. I like the extended live ones than the record. ✌️
Sometimes live sounds even better than album edition, I think😄
@@elise_0917Absolutely
Or, better than the records, IMO
One of the best bassists in history.
They are great... Every single member of Led Zep would be in the first 5 of their respective roles. Best Vocal, Best Lead Guitar, Best Drummer, Best Bass... Awesome. R. I. P. Bonzo :(

Fun fact. Most drummers play off the bass player. Not our John. He is one of the few who had the balls to play off the lead guitarist. Which further exemplifies how brilliant he was. And crazy.

If Robert Planet, John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page are still 1% as good as they were in the 1970's, then they are STILL better than 99% of musicians today.
Agree
Planet?
That's no shade to modern artists, they are just that good
If you’re only looking at the charts that’s definitely the case but there’s plenty of great artists under the surface who don’t get the same limelight
But if they make a comeback now, they'll be still better than 99% of the modern musicians

Hey hey mama said the way you move
Gonna make you sweat, gonna make you groove
Ah, ah, child, way you shake that thing
Gonna make you burn, gonna make you sting.
Hey hey baby when you walk that way
Watch your honey drip, can't keep away
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh, ah, ah
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh, ah, ah.
I gotta roll, can't stand still
Got a flamin' heart, can't get my fill
Eyes that shine, burnin' red
Dreams of you all through my head
Ah ah, ah ah, ah ah, ah ah, ah ah, ah ah, ahhh
Hey, baby, whoa baby, pretty baby
Darlin' makes 'em do me now
Hey, baby, oh baby, pretty baby
Move me like you're doin' now
Didn't take too long 'fore I found out
What people mean by down and out
Spent my money, took my car
Started tellin' her friends she gonna be a star
I don't know, but I been told
A big-legged woman ain't got no soul
Oh yeah, oh yeah, ah, ah, ah
Oh yeah, oh yeah, ah, ah, ah
All I ask for when I pray
A steady rollin' woman won't come my way
Need a woman gonna hold my hand
Tell me no lies, make me a happy man
Ah ah, ah ah, ah ah, ah ah, ah ah, ah ah, ahhh.
