Was drizzling ☔ rain until just on 2pm and the sun came out as they kicked off with Immigrant Song. They played for 3 hours 20 min and nailed it. We didn’t have tickets 🎟 we just walked in through the gate with the crowd. 🤩

Nobody had tickets but lucked the unexpected crowd and the overwhelmed collector at a wide open gate. Slipped $5 into his shirt pocket for a beer and thanked the guy😆🤩
I think this is the best I've ever heard Mr.. Page live. Clearly not under the influence and not nearly as sloppy as usual. They all sound so tight. Wish there were more live recordings of them like this.
I saw them in 1971 and 1973. Frankly, Jimmy was absolute perfection. The old band was. I saw them again in 1977 and my jaw hit the ground. Jimmy probably weighed a hundred pounds soaking wet. His appearance was horrifying and his playing was almost as bad. All my friends and I thought for sure he would not be around for another five years. Thank God for him and his loved ones that he pulled it together and is still rocking today!
He must have changed his live rig after Houses was recorded and they started playing to larger audiences. Saw them in ‘73 @MSG and his live playing was incredible. By the Physical Graffiti tour things were a lot looser and drugs became the focus of their tours.
Page had a recording truck at every gig. He has 1000s of hours of fresh cuts in his vaults and it started in 1969, so they must be amazing! Let's call him and get him to release it all. Hahaha! Yeah, I hear you about the "under the influence" but man, if I was doing 320 dates a year for five f'n years straight I might need to be under the influence. Isn't it enough they were the greatest band of the 20th century (on record)? It is for me.

I was there at age 18...Sydney Showground. As soon as they started the crowd deserted the grandstand giving my girlfriend and I the best view!!! Led Zeppelin played for 2 1/2 hours non-stop...gig of the 20th Century. I am now 71 and still rockin' hard!!!

But I DID actually get to jam with John Paul Jones at his home just outside Crowborough, near Buxted, Sussex... the high-point of my life! Long may you rock Dave! I heard they were coming to Sydney in ‘72 , I heard it on the radio though I was only 14 and couldn’t get there from Kalgoorlie where I was living! so sad I missed the one and only time they came to Australia! Long Live Led Zeppelin! You kept me going when I was going through a very emotional tumultuous time at a young age! With Gratitude! 🙏 listening to your record on a portable record player, wow, yep thats how we heard you scratches and all! It didn’t diminish the raw power you emulated together, then and now, The Song remains the same!

As an 18 year old, I was at that very concert in Sydney......and yes I am that old. It changed my life & blew my mind 🤯. The definitive gig of the century.

Just listen to this song live in 1970 or 1971 and compare it with this, it’s night and day difference. His voice is weaker and less full than normal believe it or not. Despite that he still sounds pretty great overall. He was just a good singer.

I've heard him say he was just copying somebody else's style in the beginning, and he wanted to find his own voice. If his voice is broken on How the west was won,1972, then it's still plenty for me. Now David Lee Roth on the other hand lol, that to me is a broken voice, I place it sometime during Eat em&smile tour.

That switch happened around mid 1970 which is the vocal style you hear on Led Zeppelin III and Led Zeppelin IV, rather than the powerful bluesy voice on the first two albums. Here though I’m talking about his actual vocal ability. By 1972 Plant had developed nodules on his vocal cords from overuse which caused a loss of range and power, a slight change in tone, and LOTS of voice cracking especially on high notes. Though the cracking was more prominent on some nights than others. Here at this specific concert in LA 1972 his voice was in pretty good shape and didn’t crack much if at all, but he still had less range and power from the nodules. Around this time is when he had to start altering melodies of songs so he could actually sing them. If you want to really hear what I’m talking about just listen to Since I’ve Been Loving You live in 1972, and then live in 1970. Unbelievable difference in vocals.
1972 was the last year Robert could sing the highest note without restriction. In 1973 US tour he hurt his throat and started to use lower key for highest note like the ending of Stairway
That was back in the days we were all skinny and wearing tight jeans and wearing Frye boots. I caught them at age 15 in 1975 at Nassau Coliseum. Too young to drive. Didn't smoke cigs or weed yet. A new beginning.

Вы и правда замечательное поработали с повторами кадров, они смотрятся очень динамично, вписываются в контекст четко, и смотрятся как единный кадр, одна съемка. И конечно слово темпоритм для меня очень близко, первую очередь я актер театра и кино, и режиссер, вдвойне приятно слышать в общем все от вас!) Я на самом деле сделал очень много видео работ таким путем монтажа. Тот "компот" с множеством других звезд в итоге вышел и известен (сейчас на память не вспомню название того видеосборника), но Zep там удалены. Вроде бы какие-то трения случились или съемки не понравились (Пейдж вообще ведь перфекционист у нас))). И этот эпизод многие давно ищут безутешно. С Батом похоже такая же история. И в отличие от комментирующих Вашу работу, я как раз очень люблю там съемки людей, моды, атмосферы, лиц... это важно как контекст всегда, и Уайтхэд профи. У Пейджа на самом деле в архивах много всего, он сам однажды признался, но... очень печально что не выпускает. Хороших Вам выходных и творческого вдохновения всенепременно!

Да, Пейдж когда то говорил о том , что фестиваль этот был снят на видео камеры, но там рано стало заходить солнце и пленка не была готова к закату солнца. Вот я жду с нетерпением Бикоминг Лед Зеппелин, крайние новости которые я читал , там авторские права были какие то, кто то не был согласен с выпуском. Но вот компания Сони купила права на несколько стран и показов этого фильма. И кстати именно Бат фестиваль там сейчас был в конце добавлен , как вишенка на торте!) К слову , если у вас есть видео архивы ЛЗ и в том числе на Бат фестивале, если у вас есть такое желание , я с удовольствием займусь видео монтажом этих видео архивов, если у вас есть к этому желание. И если есть еще другие видео архивы ЛЗ, с удовольствием их сделаю.А по поводу театров , это долгая и отдельная история…
Dude. I've seen Led Zeppelin four times. Jimmy Page is sloppy in the best of times but it usually works. But when I saw them in 1977, he was a hot mess.
And just to add, Led Zeppelin is my favorite band over the next band by a factor of 100. And to me no one will ever beat Jimmy Page for creativity, style, skill, Etc. But facts are facts and Jimmy is known to be a sloppy player sometimes tho it takes nothing away from his talent
From what I've heard of all the live recordings there are out there, it gets sloppy when Page plays soloes. The rest is usually tighter than a duck's arse. Listen to Black Dog on this clip, for example.

Dude. I've seen Led Zeppelin four times. Jimmy Page is sloppy in the best of times but it usually works. But when I saw them in 1977, he was a hot mess.
And just to add, Led Zeppelin is my favorite band over the next band by a factor of 100. And to me no one will ever beat Jimmy Page for creativity, style, skill, Etc. But facts are facts and Jimmy is known to be a sloppy player sometimes tho it takes nothing away from his talent
From what I've heard of all the live recordings there are out there, it gets sloppy when Page plays soloes. The rest is usually tighter than a duck's arse. Listen to Black Dog on this clip, for example.
He's saying James Patrick Page was "sloppy" because he must be a guitar player deep in his bedroom.
