This video's quality from 50 years ago is more clear than my Zoom's online class
The ramones are 240p this is all 1080p blasting this to 2.1 speakers sounds awesome...
Tape/film in the 60s/70s was super clear, and video was still primitive so that’s why there’s such a gap in quality in different videos
Yeah. That is the lesser known power of analog
It was like if the camera's were 1020p but the player was stuck at 360p
because it was recorded on film, not digital.
If he’s not your favorite guitarist then he’s probably your favorite guitarists’ favorite guitarist
I agree layman don’t get it but any guitarist fears him.

Accurate
Dude, you are so correct. Slash is my favorite guitarist, got me into guitar, and Hendrix had a big influence on him. Jimi is right up there too
not likely your opinion dont mean shit
My father didn’t talk to me very much as a child but I will never forget 4 words he said to me. We were in a record store, must’ve been waiting in my mother somewhere else in the mall. Well I was overwhelmed with all the music and couldn’t think of any band to look at. 11 year old me walked to my dad and asked “I can’t think of anyone to look at. Who do you suggest?” He said,” Jimi Hendrix is good!” Thank you dad. The best words you ever spoke to me. I went over to Hendrix’s bin and only picked the one where the artwork grabbed me. I remember it was a close up on Hendrix cuz he was the only thing you could see on stage and he was shining blue from the lights. It was Hendrix Live at Winterland! That was my introduction to a lifetime of listening to the man. I’m 51 and watching this first thing in the morning and Hendrix once again brings a tear to my eye. ✌️
Jimi had it all, man.
Style, charisma, panache, delivery, talent, chill, handsome, affable, socially conscious, he just had it all.
The Tax Free from that album is other worldly guitar playing and you can't hardly find it anywhere. Even on the other Winterlland releases. Smh The Hey Joe is great to! He opens it with a bunch of pull offs then a decending run of notes. The does the open riff kinda palm muted and double picks the notes. I know your lil head was blown lol
Imagine sitting in the crowd looking up at Jimi on his knees making sounds that you’ve never heard of before and crafting such a killer solo all off the top of his head.
I don’t care what elitists say, Jimi Hendrix will forever be THE guitar player
@@MusicissuperiorEVHROX316 he is the best improv player ever, and improv is the hardest thing to do on guitar
@@zSpacetundra That’s what I think. I’m not a guitarist, but I know improv very well, and Hendrix’s style is impossible to replicate. That’s why he’s so fucking great
@@MusicissuperiorEVHROX316 fr man musician or not, you can understand it, also srv is nice he is not as good at improv but i love his songs and hendrix covers still hendrix is a little bit better and hendrixs' reputation is held in a higher regard (not by much)
@@zSpacetundra I mean no disrespect to SRV, but I think it’s a bit rich for anyone to say he was greater than Hendrix at Hendrix’s own music. Hendrix will always be my hero and I will always think he’s the greatest

True analogic cameras are amazing. And film is equivalent of a 4K today. Today a digital camera is still ugly because can't capture the light in the same way the old analogic cameras did.

Amazing what Jimi accomplished on guitar considering he only played for 12 years ( age 15 to age 27 )!
I try to explain this fact to people and they just dont understand, the first 3 albums were recorded by the time he was 25, he had been playing guitar for only 9 fucking years. That is insane. (The first time i understood that i wanted to throw my guitar out the window, still do actually)
@@gilmour81 Yup agreed about Jimi, and I feel the same way sometimes about the guitar out the window thing too, lol.
And he did it all with just 2 foot pedals, and an effects box with just 3 switches...
For me, it is his groove feeling and his showman capabilities that are really impressive. Technically, a lot of current guitarists are as competent as him, or even better (like Tony Emmanuel, Julian Lage, etc, in another genres). And he was devoted to guitar, so his 10 years of « guitar practicing » are not the same as yours. But he certainly grew up in a musical environment, listening to a lot of (different) music and blues guitarists. That could make a huge difference in the way you perceive things and could lead you to really « internally » hear sounds that you are looking for and that are « melodic » or « groovy ». So yeah, for sure he was « special » and unique. But please do not throw your guitar :), it could take times to develop your musical skills, it is not a competition, be patient, love your musical journey (and nobody has the same), and maybe one day you will feel the stimulus that will connect your brain directly to the instrument 🙏🏻 - at this moment, we will be happy to listen to you playing the guitar even if you are 70 years old
Yeah like he played a broomstick
until his dad finally broke down to
get a guitar from all the straw! He
went from poverty to stardom as
they say, rags to riches. His story
is phenomenal. Glorious and sad.
He lived and breathed that guitar:
A lifetime of playing for us -into a
small window of time in his prime
for him -and it changed the world!
Not only is Jimi a music ICON,
his fashion is ICONIC ❤
He is THE BEST !!!

Long ago my 75-year old-grandmother, who never cared for music and was highly critical of rock, sat next to me as I was watching the Hendrix Live at Woodstock VHS. She watched the whole thing and said, "Wow, this guy is really good". Grandma has been gone for many years now, and to this day this is the greatest compliment I have ever heard of Jimi Hendrix.
Grandma knows what's up! I remember when I was in high school and my dad got me a "Jimi Plays Berkeley" VHS for Christmas. We watched it and my dad was actually impressed by what he saw. He was definitely not into rock at all. I was a newb trying to get my guitar playing together and Jimi was my inspiration. Thank you dad and Jimi!

Amazing story. I have similar experiences too. My grandma was a violinist, very much a strict conservative and into mostly classical music. Drilled me on piano every day. A very "by the book" type of person. But she had those same types of reactions when she overheard me loudly playing led zeppelin or jimi hendrix music on my speakers. I'd think she would be coming into the room to yell at me and tell me to turn that shit off. But instead it was something like "wow these guys are really good!! Who is this??" And then I could show her videos on it and we would both be blown away by the talent. That's the thing with talent. Doesnt really matter what circle of life you come from, you can still recognize it.
At the height of the Satanic Panic my mom overheard me listening to Ozzy's "Diary of A Madman" with Randy Rhoads on guitar and all those beautiful diminished chords on the intro. My mom said, "wow.....what a beautiful song." I was stunned. The hardest thing she ever listened to was the Beatles.
Lord have mercy!
I know everyone is praising and talking about Jimi Hendrix here, but the drummer seems to have been forgotten, evidently overshadowed by Jimi. The drummer’s name is Mitch Mitchell and in the drumming world, he’s quite a legend himself.
see mitch playing is a delight
Yea he was insane
Just managing to follow Hendrix in his guitar trip is already a performance...
@@Clickmoi Also the bassist was insane keepung up with Jimmi the way he did
Mitch is a legend in rock and roll circles
This concert show's jimi's love for the people. It isn't the biggest crowd ever, still he gives every part of his being into it. The solo kills me. it brings me to tears. It is pure liberation to me and shows me how absolutely in tune with himself and the music jimi was. Pure transcendence.
Ever good musician I know does the same. I went to see a show once and it was pouring rain, the woman performing put a bench on stage for me under the awning and played and sang her heart out. One of my best memories.
Well said
Jesus they were hardly buzzing that crowd
Truth!! ❤️❤️❤️
This show was set up for an offbeat movie from the outset. The audience was grouped in their astrological signs, supposedly hah
Even though I am not a musician, music is one of the most powerful, forms of expression, if not "the" most powerful, as an artist I couldn't even come close to conveying anything close.
This footage looks like it was filmed yesterday. I'm glad that they finally are putting the videos/songs in TH-cam
I know, at first I thought it was another tribute band. Amazing video and sound quality. These are the gems that make TH-cam so addictive.
Aaron Allenson I believe these are master tapes owned by the hendrix estate. so thankful to see this footage so clearly
Yes , of course within the Grand scheme of the space/time continuum , with all things considered & notwithstanding anything tO the cOntrary , this was filmed a few seconds ago , or perhaps it's being filmed live! And Direct & transmitted to our optical devices right here right nOw!!
....or something.
I hope it wasn't! None of them look 2m apart to me...
Because it was shot on film? 🙄🙄🙄
The wind protection on the microphones is really unique.
Rest in peace Mr. Hendrix. Your music is immortal! 🤩
On a windy day they improvised. Please excuse my fertile mind but it appears to look like a fold of human anatomy. Sort of erotic, eh what ??
Rip 🙏
@@user-zn9pr9ue4o Have you lost your mind? Hendrix is one of the best guitar players in the history of music. If not THE best guitar player. I think Jimmy Page is at his level, but even that's debatable.
one of the most awe inspiring pieces of heard live
this is the first time I've ever heard Jimi im 41 and DAAAMN!
Welcome to planet Earth
Just 48 days after this, he was dead. A requiem for the master.
That's why every time I see him play, my mind is blown...and my heart is broken. What an unbelievable loss. Not only was he a (beyond) phenomenal musician, but he seemed like a very humble, down-to-earth genuine human being.
Wish I'd have seen him play live at least once 🤠
DAM! Hurts to know. Thanks for sharing that information which just makes you appreciate it more realizing that what he was sharing with the world was some kind of special.
Thanks for sharing that!
I feel like crying.
@@jimieljoseph2322 Me too. And to know that he was possibly my real biological father from a relationship that he had with my mother back in 1966 in London makes me really sad sometimes not knowing the truth...let seeing all this amazing footage of him and who this man was.
It's ok to cry sometimes..... seeing much of his footage does it to me all the time.
This was a photo of me side by side who I think was my biological father. May you also shed a tear on the behalf of me and this lost fatherless journey of mine.

Much love
Jimi doesn't just play music, he summons music!
Great comment. Very perceptive.
Like from a Ronson lighter fluid can!
Hi you got a nice profile
I agree with you, indeed Hendrix is a great and talented artist who's songs never goes out of style,
he's one of my favorites artist, he's songs still and
always heals the Soul, I pray God gives you lot of beautiful days.
This is a treasure for sure. As far as the tech., how come nobody is talking about (at least the drums) audio being recorded separately? I'm amazed at how perfectly in sync Jimi's performance is vs the drums being completely different.. And they sound like they were recorded in a room.
A hit is a HIT!
It depends on who you ask, but this exact moment in history could've quite possibly been the absolute best example of a guitar being played ever in human history.
I think he is one of a kind. In my opinion he's the best there has ever been and will be.
the performance of the band is just amazing, magic dragons come to mind.
Jimi plays Berkeley...
No one's better on guitar than Jimi and Prince
recorded
"In rock guitar, there are but two eras - before Hendrix and after Hendrix"
Well put!

insane, considering what music sounded like in the 1950's only a decade or so before, this guy was so ahead of his time it's crazy
@@parallaxcontinuum7898 I’m sure LSD inspired some of his music but there’s no denying that his genius goes past use of psychedelics, no one else could have done what he did
@@ToddHoward3 microdosing will change your mind.
Why are you talking about the fifties on a video of the seventies?
@@beatlesstones3280 because the difference in sound from the 1950s to 60s was huge. I didn’t mean it was in the 50s
@@ToddHoward3 oh okay !
Phenomenal restoration. The band going nuclear and rhythmless hippies, all in glorious quality.
I dispute that rhythmless hippies observation. Maybe take a better look . They aren't all that way.
@@mizzury54 95 percent of the crowd isn't moving lol
@@playlegit7 Depends on how you're defining rhythm less then. It their heads they're probably feeling it. The thing about moving is you overload your senses and can't listen as easily. There's a reason guitarists and musicians in general close their eyes. Sure, sometimes moving augments the song, but it takes away from a different approach to listening.
There's more danceable tunes out there. Not any better stare at the guitarist tunes though.
They're a bit sloppy and slow actually
Sound quality is also great!
How could you watch Hendrix perform sitting down. I would have to dance 🕺
Hendrix coming out, in the 60s, is like if a smartphone was introduced at that time. He was so insanely ahead of his time.
