Led Zeppelin's "The Song Remains the Same" concert at Madison Square Garden from 1973 on DVD is a great example. Looks better than any concert filmed today. There are copies on TH-cam, but a little lower quality than the original DVD. Check them out if you want to see what a recording can do in 1973.

I'm a celebrant and at a funeral I was officiating this one time they played Whole Lotta Rosie. Apparently the guy was a massive AC/DC fan. So in this oh so quiet cemetary (Rookwood - if your from NSW Australia) they absolutely cranked it, So much so that just about every head was banging hard. Hard to forget that one..
As an old non stipendiary in the UK I find that classic rock tracks at funerals are becoming more common. Great For my funeral, I will be carried out to Broadside by Jethro Tull. That should wake up anyone who has dropped of during the service.
I saw this lineup at the Tennessee theater in Nashville May of 1979. I had a hiss in my ears for three days. The Tennessee theater is a very small venue maybe seating 500 people. Note the nap sack Angus has on. It is the battery pack and transmitter for his wireless guitar cord. I think one of the first transmitters of this kind.
Groundbreaking.... This AC/DC of the Bon Scott era is unrivaled. Same with Van Halen in the Roth era.... This kind of rock music will never be played again.....
I didn't know how lucky I was in '77 when I saw a then relatively unknown band called AC/DC open for Aerosmith. The crowd actually was a bit rude when they started, but after Angus picked up a few things that had been thrown on stage and threw them back, then proceeded to go on a sheer shredfest as only he can do, things turned around. Frankly, Aerosmith was a bit tame in comparison. But my buddy and I couldn't hear anything for about a half hour once the concert was over. Pretty sure I permanently lost a bit of hearing that night, but hearing and seeing Bon and Angus and the the boys in their absolute prime is something I will never forget.
Straight up in your face, no frills rock and roll played loud, hard and fast. Legends STILL going strong for 50 years. R.I.P. Bon and Mal.. you are missed..

It is a tribute to his dedication. As a kid he had one hobby. Playing guitar. One pass time, playing guitar. Malcomb once said that Angus would come home from school. Lock himself in his room and play guitar till time to sleep.
You can actually see how loud this was in the studio, by the horizontal lines on some of the TV cameras caused by their video pickup tube filaments vibrating from the powerful sound waves of the amps! Incredible sound and picture quality for 1977!
I saw these guys two or three times in the late 70s. I was 18 in 1980. I recall having ringing in my years for days after each gig. I also had a sore neck from the incessant air guitar. Awesome. Simply awesome.
This was 1977 when punk music was supposedly trashing all the older bands away . These guys have outlived them all with their blend of RnR. The Pistols, Clash et. were just R n R bands after all
70s were trash. Ac/dc were the exception, not the rule. Most bands were drugged up and their musical output was trash compared to the music of the 60s. music dipped in 1969.
