True but there’s one thing I’ve never forgiven the late Steve Jobs for: dumping the perfectly good PowerPC chip. Apple never really explained what was wrong with it. And with the new M chip, they’re admitting they made a huge mistake. Whether they’ll be committed to their new chip for the long haul remains to be seen.

@@NormanF62 Jobs literally explained it right in the keynote - performance per watt. They just couldn’t get a G5 working in a laptop form factor. Was way too power hungry. Also, the roadmap for PowerPC too wasn’t promising when you look at efficiency or “performance per watt”.
And then the actor will comeback on an ad 5 years after and he’ll say. “Oh the mac is still working like new, where’s the intel laptop we used?.. uhm it’s already discontinued.”

@@nymbusDeveloper86 gaming can not be done on macs because of software not because of hardware. Mac pros are more than capable of running AAA games but M1chips are based on ARM and intel chips are based on x86. Code written for x86 games is not compatible with M1 chips by their nature.
And no gaming company wants to rewrite their games for the few people who buy macs for gaming.

But the other thing is laptop gaming isn't really ideal. If you want to compare the Mac Pro (the desktop) to a desktop computer, you'll have a real comparison. They can do it, but Macbooks aren't supposed to be gaming-centric.

My partner spent £2,200 on a Surface Book 2. She bought it because she wanted the detachable screen. Except it’s now been three years and she legit has never used it like that because the UX is bad. She instead “borrows” my iPad.

I had one of those yoga laptop/tablet hybrids and it was not a great experience. Maybe some other people like it but I like keeping my laptop and my tablet separate

This pettiness from Intel is really making me want to get the M1 MacBook Air so much more. I’m at the point where I kind of wish that my current MacBook Air breaks just so I can have a legitimate reason to by an M1 MacBook Air.
Get it. I just got an M1 Mac Mini last Saturday, the little chip is a marvel. I'm so enamored with the device, I wrote a lengthy customer review on Best Buy's website, and left a ridiculously long comment on this video delving into just how full of crap these ads are. You might be able to trade your current Air in for some credit.
I have a macbook and I'm building a PC for gaming (because it's fine to acknowledge that different devices can be good for different things) and these dumb ads have honestly made me decide to ditch the 10400 i5 I was gonna get and go for an r5 3600 instead. I don't want my money going to Intel. Plus they should be spending their money on R&D rather than these ads and try catch up because when the zen 3's come out I think Intels going to be in even more trouble.
I agree, Intel should put more into R&D. There are some instances where I can recommend intel because of their price drops, but amd is still more of what I recommend. 3600 is good cpu, hope you enjoy! :)

Intel can still hold on even if their being trashed in deskop market....but loosing laptop (and server?) market is a devastating loss.....

Intel is making a statement that there is versatility in PC world while you would need to get a separate device in the Mac world.

I only like the new one- where the escape and power button/touchID are real buttons while the rest is part of the Touch Bar.

I’ve watched this video and the other with the Microsoft “comparison.” The irony of this never ceases to amaze. On both videos, the Justin Long ads played. They played for other critique videos other TH-camrs have done too.
As soon as I saw the first commercial my first thought was, that seems kind vindictive and petty in a childish kind of way. As you mentioned here they are getting desperate because even for gamers they're no longer the first choice of processors, AMD is. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this and I completely agree with you. Wonder how much Intel paid this guy for these commercials?
I agree: Intel only finds these flaws after the M1 introduction. Apparently, the same shortcomings were ok as long as Apple used Intel's chips. Hypocrisy at best. I've always thought the best answer to your competitor beating you is to improve your product so you can beat them... only talking negatively of the competition shows you have nothing positive to say about yourself.

The 3 Display support campaign at around 6:30 is funny, cause the Laptop uses exactly one cable to display all of the images, which means, that they are using an USB hub with displaylink support, which is also supported on M1-Macs.

Intel might feel desperate to do bad advertisements like this. Even the use the same guy than Mac versus PC make these advertisements not credible. It prouves that Mac has done good job with Mac versus PC and Intel is resentful.

yeah m1 can run two displays simultaneously, but since laptops already have an internal one, the can only have one external one... counting the internal one, it's 2 vs 4 screens. but Im'm sure, the next M-chip will solve this issue

@@paineys3341 that’s not the laptop’s fault, the mouse used in the video probably doesn’t have Bluetooth and only connects with a usb dongle for the mouse. Many Logitech mice are like this.

I'm laughing while watching this on my personal iMac because my XPS 15" work computer, which is not being used while I'm eating lunch, has it's fan going non-stop while doing essentially nothing.
Yeah I also don’t know why the XPS idles at such a high temperature. The constant heat annoys me more than I thought it would.

Here's another commercial suggestion for John Hodgman. He's lead into a room blindfolded for a product survey. On one side a lowly Mac Mini, on the other side is a beefy PC. John laughs hysterically. He pushes the render button on the Mac Mini and it renders Justin's commercial in a split second. Now renders the same on the PC, slowly chugging away and then causes a blackout, then he says, "so much for saving the planet".
well apple is not doing anything good for the planet at all; think sweatshops in Asia working enslaved (many with horrific personnel suicide trends), and making their products antistandard (from the screws to the processor along with soldered ram-disk-videocard-etc, non-repairable, non-upgradable certainly goest against reuse, recycle, repair and re-sell

I would never leave my MacBook based on these commercials. I couldn't get away from PC's quick enough once I could afford the Mac.
Love your work! But although I'm a Mac user myself, Apple had this coming! Even though Intel showed their level of desperation here, Apple had been slacking when it came to the Mac, diverting all their attention on making money since Jobs' passing. The M1 is putting Apple back in line with their mission as a company which, to me, was innovation. Intel should have done this ad campaign 5 years ago!!! But yeah... I thought these ads were funny and as a Mac supporter, I can take this one on the chin because thanks to content creators like you, I know what's coming. Apple will definitely crush the market with their Apple Silicon and I can't wait to get my hands on the New iMacs!!!

My favorite part of the ad is when the ad agency/production house didn't finish the VFX.
I think it conveys more what Intel thinks of their customers... They think they're not too bright and can't see how pathetic their ads are.

Apple hired the "I'm a PC guy" a while back and intel turned around and did the same thing back. It's actually pretty funny and this kind of marketing works. People will consider PCs instead of just assuming a Mac is better.
Double plot twist: Wasn't Justin Long pro-Apple in earlier ads? So I think, in reality, this is a pro-Apple ad, made badly on purpose, so people like Luke would call them out on it.

The Windows laptop and tablet makes soo much sense, having worked in the IT industry I know how frustrating it is to now have a two in one MacBook laptop.
I think the convertible laptop was ment to say it's touch screen so you can draw on it too where as the MacBook is just a laptop.
The third ad made me remember those 2007 BestBuy ads where Drake Bell used to translate what Teenagers where saying in order to get tech stuff.
I am writing this from my M1 Mac mini and using two monitors. My old 27" thunderbolt 2 display (using thunderbolt to USC-C adapter) and a HDMI monitor and no issues at all.
It is an issue in MacBooks with m1 not the Mac mini 👍🏻
The Macs support two displays. So the Mac Mini supports two external while the MacBooks support 1 external and the built in one

The M1 Mac mini has the same problem. For all of them, it’s only one monitor through the USB/TB ports. You can get a second display through the laptop’s built-in display or the mini’s HDMI port.
Intel doesn’t say one thing about performance. 😂 M1 is so much better tho

It actually works great on the nvida servers, I played with my old 2011 Macpro 😂 and it worked great played on my iMac to and it’s smooth as.

I think that a baby got in at taking your kid to work-day and messed with the google doc for the script and there were babies controlling intel or intel went into low budget mode.
They probably paid extra to make it look low budget. Justin Long probably commanded a hefty price. I haven’t really seen him much in anything before and probably won’t see him at all after this performance.
