Agreed. The real value proposition for Analog is the VTx cost /unit, not the goggles cost. 1 set of goggles usually supports 10x quads or plains if you are in the hobby long enough.
I am analog only pilot and yes, when a digital system has a low latency like analog (like HD0) ans costs not way much more than digital I would switch instantly, but I can't buy an HD0 VTX for every of my quads, it's way too expensive

Wrong! From a guy who worked in the electronics industry for over 35 years, EVERYTHING DIES! EVERYTHING. When people stop buying analog in enough quantities that still make it profitable for the manufacturers to continue making it - IT DIES! When's the last time you bought anything new that was analog? Yeah, like I thought. If you continue to USE ANALOG, that doesn't stop it from dying! To not be dead, manufacturers still have to continue making it. I'll bet sales are really, Really slow and many manufactures are contemplating whether or not they are gonna do another production run of certain products they make. @outcry5911 I tried some 3rd party pads but it really wasn't an improvement. Mainly the pressure on the nose is the issue. Did you just cut some foam and glue it on?
great review. One thing to add that I believe is a major advantage over DJI that your viewers should know... the size of the 1s airunits of walksnail means you can build tiny and fun craft like the lightning2. something which is not possible with the larger 03 DJI units. For me this is probably why I prefer walksnail over any of the other options. If DJI did a small vtx I would probably prefer them.
How durable are the Walksnail 1s setups? I’m primarily an 03 5” pilot but have really gotten back into tiny whoops recently and absolutely love the performance they have these days. I beat the crap out of them though. Hdzero I’m reluctant (sparkly breakup) but the walksnail has got my attention
I have over 20 drones... If I switched to digital, I certainly would not be able to upgrade all of them. Will be sticking with analog probably until we get an open source digital system.
I have dji goggle 3 and use my analog more often decent range, penetration, latency, build & replacement costs. I feel the only con is picture quality and with the right set up analog image isn't that bad tbh and you can record higher quality with gopros/thumbcams analogs alive and well for me 😊 Long live analog 💪🏽i'm pretty sure Mr steele still runs analog for freestyle aswell 👀
The goggles need a top strap. Just sew an adjustable one into the middle of the back of the strap at the back of your head, and glue the other end to the front middle of the goggles to give decent leverage on angle adjustments. I hope this idea helps.
No never die, i have a whoop a lite racer a 3 inch and 7 inch long range , i have less glitch in analog the signal is more strong and more predictable I buy only one walksnail for one 7 inch freeride
10:12 it's there because the mainboard is centered in the top shell of the goggles, up against the faceplate, and in order to put the SD card slot on the front or side of the goggles, they'd have to extend the board all the way out to the edge of the shell on that side, and change the slope of the top shell to make it flat and allow for that slot.
I don't know, I flew DJI digital for the first time last week, and (maybe since it's not the most recent goggle model) I was really struggling with the increased latency. Went back to analog and my motion sickness went away. Maybe it goes away with time, but flying fast racing/freestyle drones, the 40-60ms latency makes a big difference when I fly fast. There is essentially a delay of 1.5 meteres/second if I am going 160km/hr.... EDIT: You can literally see the delay between his mouth moving and the audio picking it up when he shows DVR video @ 12:31
@@dante9192 I don't think its that nuanced. If you fly DJI after you've been flying mostly analog you can 100% notice it. I reckon if you start on DJI, you get used to it and adapt your flying styles, and it would be just as strange switching to analog.
For me, it's all about latency, analog just makes me feel telekinetic, even the 30ish millisecond latency from good digital systems doesn't feel the same. When I make the jump to digital I think it's going to be hd0.
Why bother spending sooo much on their goggles....remember, they're not just $600, which is already the most expensive goggle in all of FPV. You still need to buy 4 antennas @ about $100 and a battery @ about $25...so $725 for their goggles and they're about 20% sharper than great analog gear - not the eachine stuff, the good top quality gear. But, you still have TONS of snow, and not even a tiny bit more range without ALL THAT SNOW! What a TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY! :(THE MOST over priced product in all of FPV! And, their VTX's fail ALL THE TIME! There is a very prominent TH-cam channel, that's been around over 10 years, and he stated on his channel, in a video completely dedicated to just explaining the problems. HE said he had to quit HDZero all together because he'd had to replace so many VTX's it was INSANE! I think he'd replaced 10 to 15 of them! Because they would burn out or just fail. He'd had enough of their lousy reliability and said ENOUGH...and quit completely!
@KOrnhOliO1 I look at it this way, they're a great pair of goggles on their own, they also do analog extremely well, and I can add an external receiver for walksnail. Pretty much rounding out three fpv ecosystems. I was going to go to the new sky zones which are pretty close to the same price and I would have to keep swapping out modules
KNOXVILLE??? Bardwell I am just entering my FPV journey and feel extremely blessed that one of the greats of FPV live in my immediate area. Never knew!
You can buy classic EV800D for less than $90, so if you look for a budget solution then still analog is waaaay cheaper. But if you want some reasonable non-box fpv goggles then yes - digital are already pretty close to analog.
The camera system kills the price of the digital systems entirely for me, OpenIPC looked promising but the pricing already seems likely to be in the ballpark of established players.
I got these for a while now and for me the latency is no problem. I’m quite happy but I can confirm that the bottom is out of sight for me. I keep them for my light drones. Overall it is a really good experience especially for beginners in digital and FPV. After a certain lvl of experience other goggles would be better. While I stick with dji the goggle L are good for me. No need to upgrade them to goggles x.
This is perfect timing, I’m just starting a drone build first time ever and I’ll get these first and would be able to share my view later. Your videos are helping me learn as I go, only a few weeks in. Also I’m local to you haha, near the big Kroger.
Digital air units are the cost prohibitive portion for me. OpenIPC has changed this for me, as it has allowed me to get into it more. Best part is my cobrax box goggles worked perfectly for openipc and all my analog craft.
Newbie here. I learned to fly line of sight a hubsan cheapo. I just took delivery of a rotor riot bundle that was a betafpv vision 40 whoop w/ elrs and walksnail, fatshark hd goggles, a radiomaster zorro, all the batteries and chargers and 6 hv drone batts for just under 700. I seriously considered these walksnail box goggles until I found that bundle deal. The fatsharks and that drone look amazing in the goggles... if I could just fly lol without cratering the poor thing! Im getting there and doing sim too.
The lack of 100/120Hz screen is such a dealbreaker. They could have been great value, they are a waste instead. Custom lens insert were also a good idea, much smarter than the N3 that will probably be very uncomfortable with glasses. WS and DJI should have gone for high frequency screen, even if it added $50, it would have been worth it. Thanks for this good review.
I mean to be fair ... Cobra s ~> Cobra x. I wouldn't be shocked to see that as an upgraded offer if these sell well. It's been done at this price point.
Being able to see the top and bottom of the screen is definitely a face shape thing + a strap placement thing, probably. I've got it dialed for my face now, and it has to do with where on the back of the head I put the strap (slightly higher than I feel like is ideal from a comfort/security perspective). Mine fit my face perfectly except for a small light leak along the bottom that isn't noticeable to me when flying, and the edge of the nose piece sometimes (not always, if I'm careful) sitting on the bridge of my nose in an uncomfortable way (need to add thin foam, haven't yet). I'm very new to fpv and walksnail/digital fpv. I mostly fly fixed wing, so I'm not very likely to notice the latency like others might be. So far, on the handful of flights I've done with these, they seem amazing for my use cases.
@Rocketman0407 I haven't range tested and I think I'm using 200mw right now, but with these goggles and walksnail moonlight I know I can get at least half mile away, which is about to the edge of the park near me.
Naaaaaaaaaa. Over digital and Dji and all their bull shit…. Ive been over it. just rebought all analog shit and new pirat frames hook and foxeer reaper extreme. Full swing back into analog. It’s more enjoyable for me. Analog reminds me of the good ol days of fpv when it felt less mainstream.
Yeah, I have replaced all of my LED screens TVs and monitors with CRT variants. Really miss hitting the side of the TV to get it to wnd having to wiggle the antennas. Just no one to yell at me to do it for them. The good ol' days.
@@hx4011na smart ass! you’ve never put together a solid analog quad and that’s cool. Not a problem at all. Analog over digital all day. I’m not speaking on tvs at home… I’m speaking on the constant bull shit we deal with from every one of these Digital systems Dji, caddx, hd zero…. Doesn’t matter what you fly you deal with bull shit in some way shape or form it’s just not fun any more flying digital. Not to mention digital break up. If you fly some serious shit and start to lose connection it adds a lot more risk because of the sudden drop off if your flying 1.6 watts on analog you could go far as f*** and the breakup is extremely manageable boundaries are easier to set and fly through because beneath the scraggle it’s still apparent what your doing. Analog is cheaper as well so if you really fly fucking a vtx off is nothing where as an 03 camera alone is 100 dollars to replace I could by 2 analog vtx for that.
@@hx4011 no updating firmware for analogue, no concerns about a ban limiting import of your equipment, no forced RID or threat of such, no compatibility issues, no variable latency, limited cost of a VTx, no concerns that the power output of your vtx will be changed by firmware in the future. I accept that the picture looks awful in comparison, but it is a value proposition. I would hope that you can see that some people are willing to trade some (or a lot) of picture quality for the up sides that I have mentioned. All decisions in life are weighing up one thing against another. The OP was voicing their view, you may have missed that in your expedience to jump to the wrong conclusion that is was just about going to old tech for nostalgia.
I love these funny guys with digital systems who don't fly or drop their drones, they keep them on a shelf and take them around exhibitions. Analog is power! Broken - put in a new one. Broken digital - and suck stick and lose money.
Chicago screws are nice and yes, have a premium feel for a fastener 👍🏻. The ones you want to stay away from are the San Francisco screws.....They always seem to have a few screws loose!! And are Nuts!!!. It's the first screw that actually identifies as screws or nuts. So if someone in SF tells you to "Screw your Nuts!!"...they are actually telling you to "Rotate your screw until it......nuts?!".... California is weird man 😮.
My first digital googgles, I kind of wish I would skip analog and got these when I got into FPV this spring, when there was no word about these yet. They have decent range, no hassle with antennas, I like them more than Skyzone 04XO Pro, I am thinking about slowly walksnailing all my quads.
hey my name is sam, i am 16 years old and i wanted to ask, if i should get the dji google 2 , the nazgul from ifight and a radiomaster pocket, or wait for better cheaper Drones\equipment ???
Dji is in general more expensive and if you want to freestyle the latency can be a problem... Analog is the cheapest and hd0 can be cheaper than dji with a vrx and cheap goggles and got also low latency.. Walksnail is like dji but cheaper and better compatible in its ecosystem... The goggles x got a hdmi input for analog or hd0
Thanks for the review. I have the GogglesX and the Fatshark Dominator WS. I am in the camp that would not be happy with this new goggle due to the latency, I did not realize it was an issue until now. When my goggles step to higher latency as distance increases it is a big step. I know immediately that it has happened before I look to the OSD info. When you say this goggle is another step higher in latency I think it would be too much for me. Other than that good job by CaddX. It is a good goggle for a great price.Latency is a personal thing.
Well said. Reminds me when I first started flying and just got a box goggle and fancy image quality cameras. Little did I know they were both at least 20ms each and I was wondering why my excellent sim flying wasn't translating (I was playing at 144Hz/fps at the time, 15ms range I think) As soon as I tried a friends build with binocular goggles and a race camera with around 5ms latency I immediately was able to fly even better than in the sim! It blew my mind and I will never forget that moment! I immediately went from mediocre intermediate always placing last to qualifying top 3, literally my first time trying a proper setup! I immediately got proper goggles and stoped buying the fancy starlight cameras and just bought the race cams. I was really dumb at the time, and also had no idea how latency sensitive I was. Now I sim at 280Hz/fps and fly HDZero90 when I'm flying seriously. For some it really is night and day!
@@Hyzerwyzer this is too broad of a question. You need to work with me a little... What kind of budget? Do you want to race? Freestyle? Or just fly around? Do you have experience with high framerate gaming? Do you know how to fly? How many hours in the simulator? Have you made friends in FPV? Local? Have you gone to events and tried out other peoples gear? If no to any of this. Get yourself an ELRS Radiomaster Boxer or Pocket radio (depending on your hand size and controller size preference) and do a minimum of 200 hours in whatever simulator you like. Both these radios are very inexpensive and VelociDrone and Liftoff both run on super basic computers.
@lemonsquareFPV Thanks man, I would like to start off learning on some tiny whoops, I've ordered a boxer which arrives tomorrow. Gonna try to learn on the sim first. Was just kinda curious about goggles.
@@Hyzerwyzer okay! So tiny whoop wise; you will be either flying Analog or HDZero as a video system. For analog goggles... on the cheaper side... I would get whatever OLED Skyzone, Fatshark, or ORQA goggle you can find used for less than $300, as $380 gets you a brand new Skyzone goggle. They'll all do the job. If you are buying new I would get the HDZero goggle as you'll be able to fly ultra light analog tiny whoops and the new 5in1 HDZero AIO based whoops, if you want the better picture quality of a digital video system. The Mobula 6 Freestyle HD at $200 is an absolute steal for a pre built digital HDZero whoop. It's cheap enough to buy 2 or 3 and be able to keep flying before fixing a broken one. If you will be flying Analog video only and want a new, really good, really light goggle the Skyzone sky04O pro is pretty much the only choice. As it comes with everything: the goggle, the analog receiver module, and even antennas for $380. And analog whoops are usually in the $100 range, and they are a lot more of them. Depends on your budget and what you intend to do. An HDZero setup will be basically twice as much, but you'll be able to fly digital. I don't know your situation to be able to make the call for you.
Nothing to do with this video but I’m new to FPV. I have a small amax drone that I been learning with. I was ready to buy a big boy drone but then realized that I need a HAM license and a ID. Is this true? Thank you
If you're only flying the Moonlight for 4k recording, these are certainly good enough. If I want low-latency, I fly hdzero or analog. This release does put the VRX in a weird position, because I would prefer wearing a pair of box goggles to the VRX, but the VRX does support race mode.
Getting back into FPV after years and trying to figure out what digital goggles I should get. I was considering these but with the latency I think I might pass. I also dont wanna get the Goggles X right now because I feel like they are about to release something new soon-ish. Hmmm hard decisions. I think im probably gonna hold off and just stay Analog a bit more until the OpenIPC systems evolve a bit more. I dont wanna buy Walksnail then like 8 months later the OpenIPC becomes the new standard everyone uses.
I recently decided I needed some light 'grab and go' goggles in addition to my cumbersome VRX-based ground station. I found the FatShark Recon HD at $140 'gently used' was the better choice for me. They have HDMI out (via USB-C) so spectators can follow along on a monitor, which is important to me. I can implement head tracking for $15 myself, so no real benefit from that. I realize Walksnail would have undercut GogglesX sales if they added any more features but GogglesL just felt a little too feature-light to compel me.
I love analog and it’s not obsolete because then I have to replace everything I have. I have to buy new goggles but walk snail system so absolutely not. Then install them on all of my quads no thanks. Now will I buy these goggles and buy new quads w walksnail probably so.
When comparing digital and analog I think it's much more important to compare the price per build rather than the price of the goggles. The builds/repairs are a reoccurring cost, rather than a one off payment for goggles. If you choose analog you're setting yourself up for cheaper builds and repairs throughout your time in FPV, at the expense of quality. However, I think with quads getting so good and encouraging the trend of just owning 1 or 2 BNFs, I can see why digital has become so popular and the price of builds isn't talked about so much. But for the builders out there, it seems this conversation is usually forgotten about! I'm very excited for the time when digital becomes more affordable per quad, then I believe analog really will fade away, as the goggle cost is getting extremely competitive.
I've got the fatshark recon hd goggles which are great so far, apart from the noisy top fan, but if you re looking for a better sponge, I got the dji v2 face sponge which fit perfectly and would probably suit the goggles L, also the goggles L strap fits the Fatshark Hd and the Scout analog goggles. The goggles L look to have a flat face shape compared to the Fatsharks, with the dji sponge I've absolutely no light leak whatsoever and really comfortable.
Hello, I have a question, I'm brand new to the hobby and after a long back and forth thinking about it, I bought a Radiomaster Zorro. However, I can't install a new firmware on it, because when I want to install the firmware, it says "USB Serial VCP" stat "USB Serial debug". Another problem is that errors are always displayed to me, how can I fix this. Thank you very much
Why are you flying it in 720p mode? Also my fix was to use a 3 point head strap to make it more comfortable and place the screen exactly where I want it
A way around the prescription lenses is to go to a Walgreens or Walmart, buy some cheap lenses for about $10, remove them from the frame and carefully hot glue them to the goggles L. And problem solved.
Are you nearsighted or farsighted? If farsighted, your goggles correction frame should enlarge the picture and worsen the problem to cut the upper or lower edges of the screen. I'm farsighted and I quite doubt, that these goggles would work for me, since the upper and lower edges of the screen are quite important for drone informations.
mine will be here in a couple weeks. Still trying to figure out what camera to buy. I don't want to get something here and find out there are compatibility issues.
I wanted to get these for my GM3, but then I got nervous about the optics - I need readers - and have no idea whether these would work for my eyes. So - essentially waiting for the Goggles X to implement the internal head tracking - as I'm not interested in using Goggles X that external HT module.
I have the same issue - I can't see the top and bottom of the screen from ANY orientation. Makes it really difficult to fly which is really disappointing. I also have to kind of cross my eyes to focus on the screen which leads to crazy eye strain.
in VR gaming, a top strap is huge for maintaining the pitch of the goggles on your face. they shouldve included a top strap so people could fine tune the pitch of the goggles. this would allow people to keep it where it sits comfortably AND can be seen as desired. i wonder if 3D printing a loop to attach a top strap is feasible? it would have to wrap over the top and front of the goggles i think. shame the goggles have so much total latency. as a sweaty PC gamer, im afraid ill have to stick with analog. latency and fps are way more important than detail to me. waiting for the day that an complete low latency digital setup gets down under $400.
I'm all HD now too and glad for it. But analog FPV was good for my current challenge as winter arrives: I want to fly seated warm and snug in my car with the FPV antennas outside in the cold winter air. I originally planned to put a Walksnail RX on the car's roof and run an HD cable back to an HD FPV video goggle that can accept HDMI output. But this seems to add another 40ms to 80ms latency on top of the 20ms we get in the Walksnail RX data processing itself. This has an advantage though of having all four antennas on the roof with only a single HDMI cable running back down into the car's interior. The other option it to have my 5.8GHz antennas on the roof but then I need to run multiple 5.8GHz SMA cables back down the sunroof. I would have at least three. This might cause a degradation of signal integrity. I also do FPV headtracking so that antenna wire bundle is going to be a hamper my head movements. I did all this in analog days and only needed one flexible cable coming down with zero latency. Was so good to get out of the sun and wind, and it made long range FPV flights feel a bit like I was in a cockpit! 😄 Not going back to analog though, but need to get to and HD equivalent of what I had in analog days.
I do exactly this with the roof mount Avatar VRX with 4 triple feed 150mm antennas going via HDMI to my HDZero goggles that have head tracking. Look up the latency it's less than 10ms difference compared to being native on the goggles X. If you saw that 50km+ flight through the Chinese metropolis at night when Avatar first came out... It was this exact setup. It was uncomfortably windy on that hill and being in the car that night listening to music and talking with friends made that experience actually fun.
@@lemonsquareFPV Thank you! I want your setup! 😁😆 So I take it the HDZero goggles have high speed HDMI video signal processing and rendering? I could definitely fly with just +10ms additional latency. 👍
@@beyondfossil It's surprisingly cheap and easy. And I'll give you some usage tips. -100 or less for the VRX -65 for 4 triple feed 150mm antennas and connectors to mod the VRX -35 range for the magnetic mount with ball joint Mistakes I made at first was using a standard thick HDMI cord. It puts pressure on your head and makes head tracking cumbersome. I got a super thin and flexible HDMI cord that they use in video production and it works amazing. It was expensive at about $50 for 8' but super worth it. You can't even tell it's there. I was thinking of just getting a 6' but the 8' came in clutch when I later mounted it to a truck with no sunroof. Also if you are flying planes any HDMI goggle will work great. Only reason I used the HDZero goggle is that I happened to have it with me and I have a custom molded faceplate, so I can comfortably wear it for hours. Plus the 1080p100 screens are beautiful.
@@beyondfossil Sky O4X pro, Googles X, and HDZero's goggles are the only ones that do 720p100, if you care about the lowest latency. But you can also use a computer monitor for 720p100. Did this a few times, and it's okay, especially at night and flying planes less aggressively. Quads, aggressive flying, and daytime glare is a no go for me but I'm particular.
@@lemonsquareFPV Thanks for the info! Especially on the flexible HDMI cable. But aren't the HDZeros designed specially for minimal latency? One problem I'm seeing minimum cost for and HDZero video goggle is on AliExpress asking for some $1000 USD! 🤢 There was another Bardwell video showing some bad latency on HDMI input on other FPV goggles. I'll have to review that video again but it turned me off to the idea. I fly fixed wing and quadcopters FPV

Avatar HD nano v3 for $100-$110 is the way to go if you’re on a budget. It does 500mw and has 32g dvr. I’ve got that in a few smaller quads and love it. A good analog vtx and decent camera can cost that.
Second this. Also it's essentially just the 'lite' version with a heatsink and a higher mw cap. The lite caps out at 350mw so it doesn't burn out. Meaning if you want to put your nano in a whoop you can shell it and set the mw lower and away you go. 10g vtx.
@@CriticoolHit the bare board is 5 grams. And that "350mW" V2 VTX is no joke, with a cherry II coming back to my 4 cheap 150mm triple feed ground station it outranges my G2/O3 on max unlocked power by quite the margin. I know it's cheap comparing a "good" antenna setup to stock DJI, but I ain't taking appart the goggles 2 to make them borderline unpackable with big antennas. My favorite use is on an ultra light 4" that I can do high speed rips down every street in my entire neighborhood. When I was doing this on O3 I regularly had to get on my bike and go pick it up when the signal dropped. And I was never as comfortable to go all out and could never have as much fun on O3. Weight, build complexity, expense, and signall loss, were always holding me back.
I solved that problem by buying the Fat Shark Recon at $169 available anywhere when those dropped. I was going to buy it anyway, but when I saw the price drop, I bought it right away and those , like the Scout I use for my Analog, you can slide your glasses into those, so no need for custom inserts.
When the first digital system that makes a small AIO that I can strap to literally anything for less than $50 comes out that is the day when analog is dead. Until then it's all just games.
I want HD zero goggles but I am confused as currently have dji 03 air in drone, I want to change the air 03, but not sure whether to add an analog or a digital air vtx
Thank you for addressing eye glass wearers concerns. Do you know what the limits are for acceptable diopter? Like, can they do -10 diopter? Or is it just "normal" +-6?
I have exactly same issue with Goggles X - I got a -4 dioptries and when focus properly adjusted not possible to see left & right bottom corners while right bottom is signal strength… Bad Caddx, why cannot move it?
This is the best FPV Channel out there period. No leaking a$$...what do you want? Just look at the playlist man... I don't really know where to support. I did Patreon thing but can afford only the small one. Yeah it's so nice to see people being passionate, build community enjoy there passion. Analog is obsolete, but not dead. As long as digital VTx + camera costs more than rest of quad, there will be place for Analog.

VTX 40-50
Antenna 10
It's not that much cheaper than an HD zero freestyle bundle. Or the 179 for the '03.

@@APS-yo8oy Seem to be very durable although don't leave it on, on the bench without a fan cooling it.
Where do I go to find out what things like "03" and "1s" and "vtx" are?
@@glennkerr7266 O3 is the latest DJI HD video system. 1S is a single cell 3.7v battery and VTX is a video transmitter.
I have over 20 drones... If I switched to digital, I certainly would not be able to upgrade all of them. Will be sticking with analog probably until we get an open source digital system.
That is the trick. Not the google price, it's the transmitter price.
On compatibility... Lets keep in mind that not even all DJI goggles are compatible with all DJI transmitters. Haha
I love my analog for micro drones. Makes the drone cheap.
The goggles need a top strap. Just sew an adjustable one into the middle of the back of the strap at the back of your head, and glue the other end to the front middle of the goggles to give decent leverage on angle adjustments. I hope this idea helps.
10:23 the location of the SD card slot is perfection, no dust can get in now!!
No never die, i have a whoop a lite racer a 3 inch and 7 inch long range , i have less glitch in analog the signal is more strong and more predictable
I buy only one walksnail for one 7 inch freeride
10:12 it's there because the mainboard is centered in the top shell of the goggles, up against the faceplate, and in order to put the SD card slot on the front or side of the goggles, they'd have to extend the board all the way out to the edge of the shell on that side, and change the slope of the top shell to make it flat and allow for that slot.
Or they could get better at design?
I don't know, I flew DJI digital for the first time last week, and (maybe since it's not the most recent goggle model) I was really struggling with the increased latency. Went back to analog and my motion sickness went away. Maybe it goes away with time, but flying fast racing/freestyle drones, the 40-60ms latency makes a big difference when I fly fast. There is essentially a delay of 1.5 meteres/second if I am going 160km/hr....
EDIT: You can literally see the delay between his mouth moving and the audio picking it up when he shows DVR video @ 12:31
Then you are a super human!!😅
@@dante9192 I don't think its that nuanced. If you fly DJI after you've been flying mostly analog you can 100% notice it. I reckon if you start on DJI, you get used to it and adapt your flying styles, and it would be just as strange switching to analog.
@@0Ciju0 that is totally ok with me. I don’t race, I just enjoy the hobby. Good for you.
@KOrnhOliO1 have you flown hdzero? It's much more than 20% better than the best analogue. And the vtxs are not that unreliable for most people
@KOrnhOliO1 I look at it this way, they're a great pair of goggles on their own, they also do analog extremely well, and I can add an external receiver for walksnail.
But if you want some reasonable non-box fpv goggles then yes - digital are already pretty close to analog.
vr009 goggles available for 45 bucks...
The camera system kills the price of the digital systems entirely for me, OpenIPC looked promising but the pricing already seems likely to be in the ballpark of established players.
sd card under the foam is lowkey genius. it's got a 'lid' so it doesn't haphazardly go flying off somewhere
Analog will never be obsolete, as long as tinywhoops are still lighter=fly better with analog transmission.
This is perfect timing, I’m just starting a drone build first time ever and I’ll get these first and would be able to share my view later. Your videos are helping me learn as I go, only a few weeks in. Also I’m local to you haha, near the big Kroger.
I fly almost every day a speeddrone with analoge goggles. I love it!
Until you get latency down to analog levels, there will ALWAYS be a place for Analog.
Digital air units are the cost prohibitive portion for me. OpenIPC has changed this for me, as it has allowed me to get into it more. Best part is my cobrax box goggles worked perfectly for openipc and all my analog craft.
Finally, this video is here! I've been waiting you to review this product. Thanks, friend ❤
You have no clue how long I was waiting for this video!!! Thank you!
We keep hearing "analog is obsolete" yet lots of people still fly analog for many reasons
I bought the goggles L and highly recommend them, they are AWESOME…
Try telling tiny whoops that analog is dead. 😂
I do wings as well. What range are you getting?
@@hx4011 lmao

I have goggles v2 and 3 as well so probably just stick with 03 air units or maybe an 04 whenever they come out. Who knows
I love these funny guys with digital systems who don't fly or drop their drones, they keep them on a shelf and take them around exhibitions.
Analog is power! Broken - put in a new one. Broken digital - and suck stick and lose money.
Latency feels bad because of only 60Hz.
That's sadly a dealbreaker to me.
Man that was close to those wires 16:28
Man, you stole the actual comment i wanted to write 😂
I got these goggles but Im too dumb to get any of it to work lol
Little did I know they were both at least 20ms each and I was wondering why my excellent sim flying wasn't translating (I was playing at 144Hz/fps at the time, 15ms range I think)
As soon as I tried a friends build with binocular goggles and a race camera with around 5ms latency I immediately was able to fly even better than in the sim!
@@lemonsquareFPV I'm about to buy gear for the first time. What would you recommend?
That sd card location is really good, it prevents the card from jumping out by mistake.
Almost as good as charging port location on apple magic mouse
Nothing to do with this video but I’m new to FPV. I have a small amax drone that I been learning with. I was ready to buy a big boy drone but then realized that I need a HAM license and a ID. Is this true? Thank you
Walksnail goggles = L. Got it
Yes you can use after market Goggle Straps, it looks like the Fat Shark Scout goggle Mount, I use After Market Straps for these type of Box Goggles.👍
If you're only flying the Moonlight for 4k recording, these are certainly good enough. If I want low-latency, I fly hdzero or analog. This release does put the VRX in a weird position, because I would prefer wearing a pair of box goggles to the VRX, but the VRX does support race mode.
It would be interesting to see comparison to Scout HD. Do they have the better screen as Scout HD
Felt like he just unlocked a new part of the map
So VRX is still on top, at least on the 100fps side but nice review
I'm new to this, which goggles do you use josh?
Getting back into FPV after years and trying to figure out what digital goggles I should get. I was considering these but with the latency I think I might pass. I also dont wanna get the Goggles X right now because I feel like they are about to release something new soon-ish. Hmmm hard decisions. I think im probably gonna hold off and just stay Analog a bit more until the OpenIPC systems evolve a bit more. I dont wanna buy Walksnail then like 8 months later the OpenIPC becomes the new standard everyone uses.
Get the Fat Shark Recon HD, they cost less than this set now.
Flew analog for 6yrs, Went walksnail and elrs from frsky. Not looking back. Feel bad seeing all my old analog gear just sitting there. 😔
WHAT is that little white gadget attached to your G2s???
Agreed
Nothing beats analog for range though
Walksnail has 2.5W transmitter and there are youtube videos of dudes flying it over 50km
Hopefully we continue to see improvements to openIPC. Still far from a direct competitor to DJI and WS
Thank you very much
Maybe show some digital VTX that are under $30.
Doesn't exist.
Raspberry Pi Zero 2 with a Camera and a 4G modem, like that guy on reddit used :-)
Meh, no HDMI in is a swing and a miss, I refuse to be locked into an ecosystem, especially when I can't even use the goggs to train in a sim.
hey, i was on hiatus on FPV for about 3 years. do you have a video for guys like me to get us up to speed on new stuff?
Why are you flying it in 720p mode? Also my fix was to use a 3 point head strap to make it more comfortable and place the screen exactly where I want it
A way around the prescription lenses is to go to a Walgreens or Walmart, buy some cheap lenses for about $10, remove them from the frame and carefully hot glue them to the goggles L. And problem solved.
The screens are limited to 60fps, maybe that's why you feel so much "latency", compared to the 100fps mode on the L and DJI goggles
Chris Rosser did a test and the latency is exactly the same as Goggles X in 60 fps mode...
@ yes but if you are used to the 100fps mode, the image could feel less smooth which could be perceived as latency
Still rocking my orqa's with rapidfire spent way to much on them to change anytime soon really
mine will be here in a couple weeks. Still trying to figure out what camera to buy. I don't want to get something here and find out there are compatibility issues.
With how many milliwatts of transmitter power in the airunit do you always do the range tests?
Hey, is there any way to open them up to upgrade the antennas from inside? Or would that break them?
I wanted to get these for my GM3, but then I got nervous about the optics - I need readers - and have no idea whether these would work for my eyes. So - essentially waiting for the Goggles X to implement the internal head tracking - as I'm not interested in using Goggles X that external HT module.
when will the video about the gt kit come?
I love the WalkSnail goggles L the only thing I don’t like is that it doesn’t have external SMA antenna jacks for antenna upgrades for better range.
So I take it the HDZero goggles have high speed HDMI video signal processing and rendering? I could definitely fly with just +10ms additional latency. 👍
@@beyondfossil It's surprisingly cheap and easy. And I'll give you some usage tips.
-100 or less for the VRX
-65 for 4 triple feed 150mm antennas and connectors to mod the VRX
-35 range for the magnetic mount with ball joint
Mistakes I made at first was using a standard thick HDMI cord.

Why didn't you mention HD-Zero in the goggle discussion?
I wonder if these goggles L and father’s recon hd are the same goggles just different body
Whats on the front of your goggles 2!!
Still you save a slot with walksnail cheap vtx which is like 90-100. I just use those.
A head strap along the top pulling the pressure off of your nose would be best
So, those diopters are free?
Where do you get the diopter lenses from? You didn't say and it is not listed
caddxfpv.com/products/lens-customization-for-goggles-l
Not dead as long I have to pay,for new vtx, cams, watever, analog just fine
I want HD zero goggles but I am confused as currently have dji 03 air in drone, I want to change the air 03, but not sure whether to add an analog or a digital air vtx
Thank you for addressing eye glass wearers concerns. Do you know what the limits are for acceptable diopter? Like, can they do -10 diopter? Or is it just "normal" +-6?
The diopters are custom made to your exact prescription. I'm not aware of what the limit might be.
I have exactly same issue with Goggles X - I got a -4 dioptries and when focus properly adjusted not possible to see left & right bottom corners while right bottom is signal strength… Bad Caddx, why cannot move it?
Can you bind multiple goggles or VRX units to the same drone with walksnail?
Walksnail supports "audience mode" which lets people watch your feed. But you can only actually "bind" to one goggle.
This is the best FPV Channel out there period.
No leaking a$$...what do you want? Just look at the playlist man...
I don't really know where to support. I did Patreon thing but can afford only the small one.
Yeah it's so nice to see people being passionate, build community enjoy there passion.
And Joshua always tries to be so specific discerning little things.
Really "Chapeau bas"
What is the difference between these and the fat shark recon hd ??
