Last year I created the fastest drone in the world, but I always felt like it was a kind of prototype and not quite fast enough. This year my dad and I decided to improve every aspect of the original Peregreen drone to create an epic successor. By the end of this video we hope that this drone will take the Guinness World Record title as the fastest drone in the world. And yes, this drone is even faster than the Red Bull Formula 1 drone!

@@LukeMaximoBell1 How fast were you even going in a car? Wouldn't a leaf blower do a better job and blow even faster than the speed you're driving? Also the aerodynamics of the car probably affect the way the wind hits the drone as well.
If I am not wrong redbull didn't make the whole drone they just made the branded aero housing at the end. That we saw In the final video.

This is not possible, due to the propellers not being able to surpass mach 1. So this would need a jet turbine or something like this??😅
You should check out dynamic soaring gliders! They're already going transonic, and that's without any propulsion

3:32 What a useful safety mechanism! Automatically disconnects your motor if the wires get too hot.
Wait until the solder or the wire touches the other one it even lights up to notify you for the malfuction.

@@LukeMaximoBell1 you should be able to capture F1 cars every angle close up then...last I checked Red Bulls drone had big issues with taking quick turns.....also why choose their similar design...I mean at this point someone can copy that and beat ur record JS.

I'm just a regular FPV pilot. Every component of this thing is just wild to me. The frame thickness, the motors, the prop pitch, the motor wire gauge, that battery discharge lol... Gonna guess that Thunder Power RC were the ones who helped out with batteries. YOOO ROSSER. His AOS frames are my favorite.
You gotta give a breakdown on the ESC, FC, the software. This is amazing.
Haha thanks! I think actual FPV builders and pilots are some of the only people to understand this project and its complexity. It’s clear when some people comment that they have 0 experience with this kind of thing.

@@OskarHersch calling it a waste of time is a bit rude, but you definitively got a point. its still some work, but mostly about assembling existing parts to get something to work. the peoblem that i see is the company guinness world records. it is to some degree pay to win and i bet there were faster drone flights based on how easy it was to build it but they would never list them in their book (cause money).

I’m curious why you’re using such a conventional design for your props. There are more efficient, powerful designs that are used in real aircraft that could be scaled down that could offer all sorts of advantages.
They are the only props that have the pitch and diameter I need for the record
Availability. Printed props wont last a second in that application. Similar when there’s hype about toroidal props. And Injected molding is super expensive to setup

@@LukeMaximoBell1 What about sintered metal. Again, I’m no expert, I’m just asking. I am fascinated by this stuff. I fly professionally and over the past 15 years or so there have been some really neat advancements in prop tech for actual aircraft. I’m not sure what kind of RPMs your props are seeing but I imagine it is on par with something like a modern turbo prop. In that area more and more older aircraft are seeing their three and four bladed props replaced by 5, 6, and 8 bladed props with modified shapes like paddle board and modified tips. There are a few companies playing around with contra rotating designs that are interesting, making kind of an external jet prop. These mods greatly improve performance in thrust, airspeed, noise, and fuel efficacy which that last part may or may not relate to improve battery life.
One of my hobby’s is shooting and there have been some really impressive strides made in metal 3D printing. There are a few suppressors on the market now that simply couldn’t be made without a 3D printer. The pressures involved in containing hot gasses from a muzzle blast are exceptionally high. I can’t imagine that something like that would fail in your application. Composites and hybrid composites likewise have proven to be very durable. It would be interesting to see these strides getting scaled down to use in UAV/drone tech.

@@SuperTrb0 and to add, the bigger prop size is the more efficient it is. So just by scaling down props in jets or boats doesn’t guarantee itll be efficient and economical.

I don't think they were using "Nirmal operating conditions" in this video. Batteries have a C rating, which indicates how much output they can deliver. This clearly exceeded that rating, as the batteries caught fire.

@@zachmoyer1849 Thats the Dutch Drone Gods (DDG) yes. I wouldn't call it a redbull drone just because they did some canopy optimization and put their logo on it.
Anyway, they said its the fastest camera drone that can last a whole track and it probably still is.
Apples and oranges. Not dogging on this channel or anything but DDG has way more resources at their disposal. If they wanted to make a drone for this purpose, I think they'd give this drone a good run for it's money.

Congrats on the new record. You are helping to push the boundaries of FPV racing drone technology!! For a while, most quadcopter companies were so focused on 3 inch, small, light weight drones. Now there is a swing back towards 5-10 quadcopters with S8 batteries and monster ESC's. Soon we will push into S10-S12 monsters and quadcopters that can maintain flight well over 1-3 hours!
It seems like every month some inventor in their lab also comes up with another use case for quadcopters. Whether it be chasing F1 cars, flying in the air and water, product delivery and a host of defensive/offensive war tech.

Cheers mate. Excellent work on the drone. If you want to break the sound barrier with an RC vehicle, try building a supersonic RC FPV fighter jet... maybe a mini SR-71 Blackbird or something special.
