Jetty fishing for BIG striped bass and bluefish. Mostly on bucktail jigs tipped with Gulp! jerk shads Music by: Bob Blankemeier / and-to-till-then-were
You and another guy I met in my neighborhood inspired me to start getting out fishing again. I been living here in the city for 2 years and had no clue how to fish these waters. I got my rod and reel in today so perhaps I'll see ya out there on the jetty soon 😉
Yo thank you for watching man! I don't usually believe in the clothing luck stuff but since I made that rabbit hat its brought about some really good fishing days haha.
This was one of my favorites. Fun fish and it's useful to see those tricky jetty landings. I would definitely watch a comp of difficult nyc jetties, to the end.
The jetty landings can be tough! Especially when it comes to reviving bass. I always try to plan that part out before casting but sometimes the tides have other plans, just gotta try your best. Thank you for watching break0nthr0ugh!
Really incredible year for Striped Bass fishing. Got warm enough water for the species mix up now. Looking forward to the Fall run! Thank you for watching Kirk K
Thank you so much Peter! Something about mid-day right around slack can be so productive. Short window of time, but I really like fishing that particular tide cycle. Feel like the big fish roll in when there is less competition with the smaller schoolies.
Been waiting for this one!! I’m local. Wish I could surf that spot more.. but my time is short these days. But I have fished around the corner. Not as far as a walk. I do fish “other jetties” closer to home tho. 😉maybe I’ll run into you one of these days. May make a few trips to go fluking there this summer.
Really Great Work Bob! I can't help but to be impressed lol. Especially navigating them rocks! You really know that water/structure well. Any tips on moving on that specific jetty? Getting out to the point is trecherous dude! Thanks
Does color matter? I’m watching this 3 times about the technique why you don’t swim the Bucktail like John skinner, instead you did one crank and let it drift? Can you do part 2 explain more in detail? Still little confuse when to swim and when to bounce then let it drift?
Hey Bob, Great video! Big NYC jetty fisherman and have able to get some gator blues but it seems like I never hit the striper bite. Anything you do when trying to target the bass specifically? Thanks for great video and keep it up!
Hey Morad, I think the biggest challenge is figuring out what tide they are biting on. Once you lock into a good striper bite, write down the tide and conditions. They'll repeat the pattern each day as the tide adjusts by the hour. If there are blues around I would jig the bottom.
Nice work Bob, was on the edge of my seat for the fight w/ the big bass lol. So nerve wracking when you know there's a big fish on the line and rocks nearby. How big you reckon? over 40"? tough to tell from the vid
The big push of larger Striper seems to be over unfortunately in NYC. But you never know, could be some stragglers still pushing North. Thank you for watching!
awesome video great stuff, im taking a trip to long island this weekend hoping to get on big blues stripers etc, any tips? and locations i should try? what lures?

Wow Bob, what an incredible session from the shore! Bass, bluefish and an exotic pufferfish! The lucky hat did its job!

Nice catch, I’m thoroughly impressed! What test line are you using?
Thank you John! This was 40lb flouro leader and 50lb braid

Try using smaller lures in the 2-4” range to mimic peanut bunker. Silver Spoons, zoom flukes, gulp grubs for flounder, silver epoxy jigs
@@BobAquatic thank you sir!
I’ve been stuck trying to find strippers in Jamaica bay no luck! Could you share your spot? Thanks and awesome video btw I watched till the end.
