I am not sure if a tutorial for surf fishing can get any better than that. Actually I am sure that this is outstanding video that it can help everyone from beginner to advanced fisherman to step up their game. 👌 👏. Really nice video
@@gabrielpichardo1492 thank you so much for your kind words, they mean a lot to us! We’re glad you enjoyed the video, and that you were able to advance your surf game. Tight lines this season🎣
Great tutorial. As a young boy I learned by trial and error and always kept my eyes and ears open for info. I was also one for casting to England! Thanks to Bayside Dave for your time and inside info and tips that every surf fisherman wants to know. Good job Jersey Boys! I’ll be out there again this season, hopefully with reports of my own. Tight lines.
I have been a Freshwater fisherman all my life. But my Son and I started fishing for Stripers and bluefish last fall. This video was so helpful getting us started. Thanks for a great video.
Great video. Thanks for the info. I’m learning how to fish on my own in my mid 40s. Videos like these help make that possible! Keep the great content coming.
Probably the best video I've watched, learning everything I was doing wrong and how and why to do it correctly from line setup, bait, casting and final setting of the hook. Thanks for posting
This was absolutely great. Im a local ocean county guy just getting into surf fishing... Had a clue but feel much more educated after this video. Thank you great job
Nice tutorial, and for a guy who fishes for stripers in bays and off jetties or boats with lures, I finally know what a "bunker" is. In the Navy, bunker is the fuel that runs the ships. Who knew it was also bait. So if I catch a mackerel I know how to cut it up and hook it too now, Going up to PEI to fish in early October and they require barbless hooks so appreciate the tips here. Good luck to all the fisher people out there. Love ocean fishing cause you never know what could be biting!
Always loved surf fishing but live in PA. Unfortunately I would just walk down and throw out a line. Now that I am retired I have been trying to get more knowledgeable about reading the surf, baits, rigs. Your videos are perfect! All of the others I have found are from Florida, Australia etc. Thanks SO much! Can not wait to get down and put it into practice!
I been looking for a tutorial video like this for a long time to have the knowledge and confidence to surf fish and finally found it! Awesome job guys hope to run into you out there!!
I have to be honest I've been fishing since I was a child and I'm almost 40 as far as circle hooks go I've been using them for years and I feel like I've learned so much watching this video thank you. I used to live on the beach and I live down the road from one when it comes to setting the hook I think I know why I lost a few thank you again for the advice.
Joe Giunta here, this was a very enjoyable video, Dave, I learned a couple of things from you, I have been fishing the surf/bays since 1982 and I never stop learning. I hope to see you one day on the water Dave, love to fish with you.
This video is very informative. Thank you for posting. I really learned a lot. I think I’ve been doing it wrong for years. I will definitely be using this video to change my style of fishing.
I don't think a better surf fishing tutorial video exists. In two weeks will be my first surf fishing outing and this told me literally everything I need to know, to feel prepared.
I’d love to get in on the fall striper run, but alas, we head down the shore in mid-summer. I’ve caught schoolie bass in the bay, but I’ve never pulled one out of the surf. Seasonally speaking, I’m stuck catching blues, fluke, kingfish, dogfish and skates out of the surf. I don’t mind the “trash”, I’m just thankful for the opportunity to surfcast. As long as my rod is bent, I really don’t care what’s on the end of my line. Get out there and rip ‘em this fall! Don’t take it for granted. Take it from me- the landlocked guy in CO wishing he could be there during the fall run!
Hey Duke, thank you for watching! I'm with you on that, I don't care to much what is on the other end as long as it's bending my rod. Great reminder though to not take what we have for granted. It can get very easy to always think the grass is green somewhere else.
I've watched tons of videos but this was the most thorough and conclusive video on how to surf fish properly. The only thing I need to buy now is some tie line to secure the chunk bait to the hook. The only thing is like to see is a video on how to clean and oil your gear after surf fishing.
Great video, guys. Lots of good tips and info. Thanks so much for the stickers and note of encouragement. It was much appreciated. Keep up the great work, brother.
Great job on the video!! Just save me some on the spring run so I can catch some up here in Massachusetts (taxachussets). (Mass hole)fishing the cape cod canal. And other spots
Great video JBO and Bayside Dave you were very informative. I am going to share this to my page and it is very educational and informative. Great job guys Thanks , Capt Andy
Only need to use circle hooks for stripers when fishing natural baits. Also make sure that when using bunker that there are no scales on the point of the hook.
Another good tip i learned for finding holes (im on lbi too) is walk the beach and look for areas where washed up shells are larger than the other spots, thats typically a hole too. Great video so glad i found this!
Nice video. LBI is one of my favorite spots. I live almost an hour away. Shout out to Surf City Bait N Tackle. You can call them in the middle of the night, they will happily come down stairs and treat you like it's 9::00 am. Nice people
Great informative video. Thank you for putting this together for a newbie like me. Just started surf fishing here in Ocean County NJ and still have lots to learn. Caught 3 skates today and it was unpleasant getting cut up from its barbs. Next time I will use gloves. Looking forward to catching real fish not just skates.
Hey Brian, thank you for watching! Dave really knows his stuff when it comes to surf fishing! We learned a ton from him as well! Keep at it and best of luck on the water!
I have a place in LBI it’s been rough on the beach past couple of years. Hopefully this fall will be good. I caught a 30lb striper from the boat in the Long Island sound a few days ago water temp was 82 in the sound. Calm conditions at dusk. Tight lines 🙏🙏
@@jerseyboysoutdoors I know last year sucked in Long Island too as well as LBI. Tons of bluefish around 7-10lbs here in Long Island . Stripers have slowed as the water temp and outdoor temps dropped. Idk.
Just curious, how do you set the hook on a circle hook when you have the rod in a rod holder on the beach. Do you set the drag really loose and let the fish run for a little bit, then tighter the drag, and reel fast while still in the rod holder to set the hook? Or do you tighten the drag and leave it in the rod holder for the fish to set the hook by itself? Or lastly, do you leave the drag tight, pick the rod out of the holder and side sweep to hook the fish? Thank you in advance for the advice

Nice T-knots on that high/low rig. 😉👍 I don’t see many people do that. You should really mention taping your index finger or wearing a casting glove with that braid. I fear that there will be a lot of novice fisherman who watched this getting rushed to the hospital with a 1/2 severed index finger because they casted with braid without any finger protection.
That's a good point. I did think about that during the making of the video but forgot to mention it. At some point we may do a video about how to make the rigs, so I will be able to mention it then. thanks for watching!
Hey thanks for watching! So if your going for stripers through the summer clam is probably going to be your best bet. However the best time to catch stripers is in the spring or fall.
