Growing up in NYC I never even thought of fishing East River or Jamaica Bay in the 70's. Things have changed immensely for fishermen. With clean water quality and public fishing piers, I wish I was there now. Kinda funny to bring fishing gear on the subway!
There is a lot of people with fishing gear on the subway these days. It's cool to see, lot of people seem more interested in it. Growing up in the 70's in NYC must've been a wild time, but a unique and special place to grow up. Thank you for watching!
Loved the vid! Is there a species environmental contamination sampling report in the East River/Hudson? As a San Francisco Bay fisherman, there is sampling of sport fish with clear consumption recommendations for men, women, and children in SF Bay (which has a decent amount of contamination). Seems this would be a good public resource for safe and fun fishing in NY waters.
Those Tautogs are super strong l wasn't that surprised when you hooked that Striped Bass they are very commonly found around Manhattan. There are also lots of bluefish.
i fished right here once with blue crabs but it was so cold i lost my wallet and was feeling like shit. so i only lasted about 20 mintues before i gave up
@@FeliNycFishin it’s Brooklyn Bridge Park. Everyone in NYC knows about it. You can literally see the bridge. Doesn’t take a genius. I’m not burning spots if everyone knows about it
don't eat fish that comes from that water dude. The Hudson and East rivers are filled with heavy metals and toxic plastics like PCB's that are infused in the fish that live there.
@@roncotton7963 Born and raised in Brighton Beach, been fishing these waters all my life. I took an environmental science class in Kings borough college which focused specifically on NYC waters. Later in Brooklyn College where I graduated, I took a class on the history of NYC. The area was lined with factories that dumped all their waste materials into the waters for decades without any oversight. You should take some time to do some research on your own instead of making assumptions about people you don't know.

Dude, those fish are weird colors because you're fishing in NYC. Come on, man; we all know why they look weird.
Please answer where are you getting those live blue crabs from and what pier are you fishing on.
He's fishing Pier 1 at Brooklyn Bridge Park. You can get live blue crabs at any Asian grocery store.
Don't you know you don't give out spot where you fishing at if you know you know smh

Everyone don't know if you answered his question on where the pier at ... 🧐
every ferry station in Bk all the way up in Queens. A lot of them have fishing stations.
Are you not keeping the fish because off the pollution in the water?
yes
Set your drag.
I would never eat any of the fish that catch in the city canals especially the Hudson River.
Keep your rod tip up higher a little more
Are you in A.C?
What weight a lure are you using
he said 3/4 oz Bottom Sweeper, nice jigs
Why not keep some to eat. Your always catch and release
If you knew what’s in the waters you wouldn’t keep it either ha!
water is cleaned up but not for eating
Blue = Toxic🙄
Such a pretty place
You should change your name to “Fireman Bob” because you LOVE burning.
You eat those tog?

You mean volunteer firemen!
these are not secret spots...
Dude, don't eat that fish. The Hudson and the East River are a gigantic EPA Superfund site loaded with PCB's and other toxic compounds.
Lol. Do t buy tog from any Asian markets. They come from the same waters.
lol
Like you know
More likely anti-New Yorker
