    Constantly Variable Transmission or Constant Velocity Transmission which is it??

    • @gretchenmorfea5988
      @gretchenmorfea5988 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it’s cvt lol
      Seriously, though it’s constantly variable transmission. Constant velocity transmission mean it has a CONSTANT (non changing) velocity thus defeating the purpose of he cvt. Constantly variable means it has many different velocities thus the concept of the cvt.
      Also great video. Very well explained.

    Great video and informative. Lose the sarcasm and condescending tone at the beginning as an improvement. Not everyone has ridden Atv their entire life and what tires is a legitimate question.

    I wish my Sportsman XP 1000 had a wet clutch like my Grizzy and Kodiak 700 because CVT is so much better the belt doesn't slip and tuning is so much easier and you can even change the gear ratio . And shifting gears is dangerous, I know I rolled a 3 wheeler backwards down a long and steep hill because it miss a gear would not have a Honda if was last ATV you could get.

      @ADVENTURESThisWay  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The wet clutch is nice, however the grease style Yamaha clutch set up not so good for mud and water riding!

    • @crazyflyboy30
      @crazyflyboy30 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ADVENTURESThisWay it doesn't matter what brand you're screwed with water and mud in belt cover but Yamaha's still better than Polaris or can am, the Yamaha's just cleaning your good and they also make grease less weights than you just spray them out but with Polaris or can am you are super f up with the one way gets water or mud in it and it's a nightmare to fix a one way or buy a $ 500 for a new clutch. I have watched a guy on TH-cam with a brand new can am got a little water in the belt cover and the next day the one way was locked up only cost me about $1000 for the dealer to fix it .

      @@ADVENTURESThisWay the grease that would come in contact with any mud is only used for noise. Hence the reason we run greaseless in the primary. It has nothing to do with the wet clutch.

    Hi, what do you think of EPI Clutch kits? I have installed one on XTP 1000 and it feels like i have got more power with my 30 inch tyres... It should work better in mud, and acceleration should be higher than the stock one.

    • @ADVENTURESThisWay
      @ADVENTURESThisWay  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      EPI makes quality stuff. Its not adding actual power, but the kit changes how the clutch reacts. Sounds like you are on the right track.

    I know this is an older video, but I have a legitimate question. I have a 21' kodiak 700. No bells and whistles like power steering. Just stock 4x4 with the cvt. It's primary use is for plowing my driveway, but I use it for odds and ends in my swamp from time to time. I have a pretty long asphalt drive and didn't want to spend the money on a beater truck and plow so I invested in this and a 54" plow. Since the tires are still spinning when the snow is pushed up, I know it's currently capable for the task, but is there anything you'd recommend? Should I stop doing this with this machine? Is there any upgrade or am I on track to destroy this thing? I always heard plowing is hard on transmissions, but I needed something to get the job done quickly and it's what I settled on. So far, I'm really happy with how it performs. Any advice is appreciated.

    • @ADVENTURESThisWay
      @ADVENTURESThisWay  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Definitely a great choice for a plowing unit. The Ultramatic clutch set up from Yamaha is one of the best. Just use Low range when pushing lots or heavy snow AND don't hit the banks too hard! Possibly upgrading from the stock tires may be a benefit as well.

    LMAO! Git the nail right on the head. If I could tell you how many messages I have received on GB, IG, and YT asking me "what should I run or what do I need to do to make my machine like yours? Palm to the face every time. I hope you have a large checkbook....basically the way to sum it up. No hobby, sport, enjoyment is ever cheap. If you like to just trail ride you will be alright and don't require much. However...........if you like performance, noise, power, and oh shit moments.....be prepared to spend some dollars. LOL Great video Don!

    So from your experience, would you recommend dalton clutch kits over most other brands? I went from the stock 2 ply tires on my sportsman to 6 ply, and only going up 1" in size, i noticed quite a difference in power. Seems sluggish. Going to do some upgrades in the off season, just doing some research. Thanks for the info!!

    • @ADVENTURESThisWay
      @ADVENTURESThisWay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When you change tires the main issue is weight difference vs tire size. Clutching will need to be adjusted to match the increase in weight. I like Dalton for the fine tuning ability, RVS Performance is another company to contact. Big time Polaris place.
      You are very welcome!!!

    Hey there!Just ordered the dalton kit for my sportsman. Also got the clutch puller. Do I need a special press to get the clutches apart or is it just that puller I need ? Thanks!

    • @ADVENTURESThisWay
      @ADVENTURESThisWay  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The primary no, the secondary yes but you can make one yourself. Many aftermarket companies sell them, its a compression tool. Basically compresses the spring inside in order to remove the bolts holding secondary together.

    Hey, this may sound stupid but I'm just a young guy on my first quad. I hate the fact that I can't gear down because of my Honda fireman's shifter. I also have problems going down big hills at top speed. Is there a way to convert my quad to have a shifter/transmission closer to that of a manual car where I can engage the clutch to gear down and at top speed (I still want the foot shifter)?
