At the end of the day could you put a flat out price tag on what you've put together? Im in Alberta and ive been looking into a brand new highlifter vs an xmr. A fully built 850 hl i can pick up around 15k but the equivalent xmr im looking at 21k. Neither is a pill i want to swallow at the end of the day. But for a factory mud bike i don't really have a choice. To be even more honest im desperately hoping Kawasaki starts competing in the 850-1000cc class in the next few years. Would be nice to see them compete like they have been in the sportbike and dirtbike scene. Id like to see a 100+hp renegade style brute force.
A HL 850 is a waste of money as a pure mud machine. Will continue to cost more money over time. Find a good used stock Renegade XMR 1000 and spend $5000 on it. Tires, clutches, tuning and exhaust most cost effective way to go. A brand new 2024 or 2025 Renegade cost is too high to get your investment back out of it if need to sell.
For the brute lockers we used to make a locker strap. It was a small loop that held it down.

Not once did I ever think to add another shim. I needed to do this, 1 question how did you remove the blue lock tight- mine is kinda rubbery and I tried to pick it out it out and does not work very well, my second thought was to use brake cleaner to dissolve it, is brake cleaner too aggressive?
Usually a wire brush works well with some penetrating lubricant

We are not allowed by the law to ride in the wetlands and they close all our trails during spring mud season then close them all again in October before the snow might come ,,got to really love Maine for not letting us enjoy that fun you have on the queen land

Single cylinder, less power the new 700 is 50hp my 650 was 62hp , had less vibration, a big mistake by Can am in my opinion.
