Learn the last 4 minutes of a song called Deliverance by the band Opeth, and play the bass notes "lazy" with both feet, no single foot strokes. It's fun and good practice for a beginner to double bass pedals. Love your vids by the way. Keep it going!
I would suggest playing it by sound first, get comfortable with it, then change with the sheet later. Nobody learns anything the same, so finding YOUR pattern first helps. Also, find your comfort zone sitting at the set! Again, nobody learns exactly the same, so find your throne threshold, get your own groove on, then pick up whachu can. Nice work on Bleed BTDubs!
To everyone that wsnts to try to play this....the drummer that wrote this part, it took him 6 MONTHS to be able to play this one song. Just this song....took 6 months to learn. So never give up if it doesn't happen in a day.
I took me a month to somewhat learn it(I was learning this pattern for esoteric surgery by gojira) I only needed to play it for a few seconds and it was at a slower speed so it didn't take me long. But it took me a few more months to be conformable with it and actually play the beginning to bleed.👌😈now I can play a few polyrhythms over it
IIRC he said he had to basically rewire how he approached his double kick technique, so if anything, someone might be able to get it down faster than that 6 month span
I was just about to post a comment saying about this !! When u speed it up the groove or beat becomes way more solid as of the slower practice at the start
Warmup for double bass: singlestroke pyramide on feet. one bar each: half note, quarter notes, quarter triplets, eights notes, eights triplets, sixteenth notes. play it up and down and with increasing metronome for half an hour.

Very refreshing to see a drummer post about learning something difficult. Not being afraid to post a "warts and all" type video takes courage. Much appreciated.
Very curious to know if there have been any attempts to continue practicing this song. Being able to do what you did in such a short time is pretty damn incredible.
Absolutely loved this. Ive attempted to learn bleed but its one of those ones that make me think "nope, gotta practice a bit more before I come back to this. Soon, maybe". Excellent progress for the amount of time you put in!
As a guitarist, this is one of the hardest ones for us too. Most people work on their fretboard hand, and their picking speed and accuracy while learning guitar. While most of Bleed makes Smoke on the Water look complicated in terms of the left-hand, the right hand has to have speed, accuracy, AND stamina. Weird rhythm patterns aside, the sheer stamina required for this song (for guitarists and drummers alike) is almost unmatched. ...But let me tell you, getting it down to the point where you can play the pattern consistently without even thinking about it is a godly feeling. And this is coming from a guitarist. I can only imagine the satisfaction you feel when you can play the whole thing on drums.

The pattern morphs as the song goes, it's only triplet one triplet one triplet one for the very beginning then it moves to triplet one two triplet one two, and continuing goes back and forth as the song goes it's truly amazing.
its not a triplet. A triplet means that there are 3 notes of the same length for every 1 of the note value above. So 3 quarter triplets per 1 half note. These are 2 32nds, followed by 2 16ths, so 3 16ths or a dotted 8th in total. Triplets wouldn't "move" over the bar line, like this dotted rhythm does.
Okay so you describe the exact same Motif as a dotted rhythm, or there's a triplet followed by some combination depending on where you are in the song, the dotted Rhythm still give you a triplet are you new?
You could try putting your feet higher on the pedal, it gives you more control. Try this warm-up, Heel-toe (left foot), heel toe (right foot). Second exercise: Heel (L), Heel (R), Toe (L), Toe (R) and all kinds of variations. You can do this on the drums and on the subway or bus or while you're waiting for something. Try this: when you play with your heel, you use the weight of your leg, but when you play Toe, you lift your leg and you put your toes down. Love the videos, keep up the good work.

Love seeing you behind the kit, can't wait for more!
React to drum covers of Tom Sawyer and analyze the 'drum solo' part.
"I don't have the accuracy yet to have feel, I'm not allowed to have it."
That made me sub immediately. You get it 🤣👍
Flip those beaters around brother. This ain't jazz band. Need that smack.
I think a great way to internalize where the 3 is in each bar is play hertas on your hands and accent the 3 in each bar.
Try 'Blasphemian' by Infant Annihilator
😂 I think he’d just have a seizure
Download guitar pro tabs, extract the drums, put it into a VST and export. Done. That's at least how their drummer did it.
I love this, as it allows us mere mortals to understand how hard it is for even crazy good drummers to get this down.
good morning can you react to the discord.
Hey man, I absolutely love this vid. Bleed is stupid crazy so I commend you for taking on the challenge!! I find with playing heavy music it helps to have the cymbals close to my body so I don’t have to over extend my limbs. Love the video man!
You earned a sub with your metal videos 😁 loving them, please keep going with them, it's good viewing 💕
watching this video always makes me feel better after trying to learn a lamb of god song or something that's just too fast for me. even if drumset isn't your primary instrument it's still helpful to see you struggle through so I can remind myself "this is just what learning looks like, I'm not doing it wrong and if i keep it up I'll get there.". genuinely it helps keep me from getting discouraged.
The honesty in a TH-cam video is refreshing - still pretty impressive
I love how you showed breaking it down so crucial for any young drummer to learn
