Saw them in Toronto a few days ago. Came back for the encore and started with Bleed, and the crowd went nuts (not that we were sitting quietly before). Excellent performance.
Some trivia: this song is a pain in the ass to perform. It almost didn't make it on the album. Drum part took Tomas Haake a year to nail down. Most guitarists hide under their bed whenever someone says "play Bleed", lol. Takes a shitload of practice to learn, and twice that to perform in one take. Shows how good musicians Meshuggah actually are. I'm on "month two" now, and I'm still getting used to the picking pattern. In my whole 10 years of guitar playing I haven't come across a song so rhythmically advanced.
first riff picking pattern is easy, enduring it isnt. It took me 15 minutes to learn it but it is really exhausting, I can barely get to the 12th measure. Also at the 'Malfunction' part the riff is really really fucking hard to nail, you either have to memorize everything, every single little 2-note burst and its position or you have to do the counting, and both are nightmarish
nope they are certainly a rock band dude. Lol. Losing your virginity. That would be considered an experience. Let me know if and when you do and then you will see what I mean. Hahahah
@@drperkyreal4686 Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I'm pretty new to Meshuggah but it seems like the bass player never really plays anything different from what the guitars are playing. I'm sure that's a really big part of what makes their signature sound and I'm pretty sure it's not an uncommon trend in extreme types of metal, though I guess it would be kind of interesting to hear him diverge from the guitar parts a little bit.
Once you get around the awesomeness of the screaming, you can begin to appreciate the amount of genius that went into managing to get two 8-string guitars, bass, and drums to syncronize this perfectly with this insanely relentless rhythm-on-top-of-a-backbeat.
When I was like 12 or 13 I went on a church mission trip to an Indian reserve to work on houses. When I was 13 My parents sat me down and had me read the lyrics to Number of the Beast out loud because they found an Iron Maiden CD in my room, so I would realize I was going down the path of The Devil. 18 years later Meshuggah is my #1 on Spotify Wrapped. My mom would be proud.

Interesting fact: I recently read an interview with Tomas Haake where he said that Bleed is actually about having an aneurysm. It kind of makes the meaning of the term bleed sound more darker and deadly than ever.
I forget where I read it, but it was on a site I found a while back where Haake primarily talked about Meshuggah's then upcoming album (The Violent Sleep Of Reason). He briefly talked about other past albums they did and he mentioned Bleed being about an aneurysm. If I can find it again I'll post a link to it.
@@RuyHenriqueCoutinhodeMelo I think the music has less to do with such specific attributes as the lyrics, which often represent these themes. This hits different when you’re in a fire truck heading to a fully engulfed fire.
I work for Houston Fire Dept. I would love to listen to this on the way to a fire lolol
How are you able to do it with your mask on?
BEAMS OF FIRE SWEEP THROUGH MY HEAD
@@drummerbraingreenman they bled. bleeeeeed.
I mean at that point it's just exposure control and defensive ops 😂🤷🏻♂️
My Nan introduced me to this band.
God bless you nan.
My octopus listened to this and turned into Cthulhu.
PoobProductions he is the god version
...
Poob is saying that cthulhu is like the impersonnation of how infinitly small we are in the universe and that some things are just beyond our ability to comprehend or understand... or at least I think so...
Forsete Hahaha....good joke. Got the hilarious image. Some others didn't.
Succulent Waffle But Cthulu isn't an octopus.
Interesting fact: I recently read an interview with Tomas Haake where he said that Bleed is actually about having an aneurysm. It kind of makes the meaning of the term bleed sound more darker and deadly than ever.
where is dis interview doe
I forget where I read it, but it was on a site I found a while back where Haake primarily talked about Meshuggah's then upcoming album (The Violent Sleep Of Reason). He briefly talked about other past albums they did and he mentioned Bleed being about an aneurysm. If I can find it again I'll post a link to it.
any progress?
yes and yes

I listened to this song, and now my weed is smoking me.
Best one
Isn't that what happened to Snoop, Mac Miller or Shorty in scary movie?
😂😂
I laughed at this more than I probably should.
this song makes me wanna wear a helmet without riding my bike
This song makes me wanna wear my bike while riding my helmet.
This song makes me wanna wear a condom without having sex
virtue signal by 'not' wearing it
Come to Arizona, legal beagle no helmet, weed too!
Damn this song hard!! 😎
this song makes me want to write a "this song makes me want to..." joke without having a punchline
Luckily you didn't say anything about the dirty knife
Which in itself becomes the punchline, thus fouling your plan
You got me there dude. “All Hail the King”.🙇🏻♂️
Ayeee
Nicee
Meshuggah are so cool that they can play one riff for 5 minutes and it won't sound boring
Death Metal destroys the body
Doom Metal destroys the soul
Meshuggah destroys the fabric of time and space
So powerful they don’t abide by genre
kkkkkkk
@cgrnt1994 We can rebuild him, make him bosser, stronger, more metal.
@@RuyHenriqueCoutinhodeMelo I think the music has less to do with such specific attributes as the lyrics, which often represent these themes. Status quo people also tend to like status quo music and there is a whole dynamic at play here. I don't want to say that not liking the same things 'everyone else' likes is the issue, though that may be part of it. More like those who care less about what 'everyone else' thinks or have already been ostracized for not conforming, feel more free so to speak. Once you've observed the herd from the outside, why would you ever allow yourself to be reduced OT socks a blind tool ever again?

@@SR-em8wl yeah, thanks for the correction. In Spanish be use "lavar" with directly translated to English is "wash"

this song makes me want to fix my therapist's depression
This song makes me tell a woman she's ugly when she asks me whether she's beautiful or not. It also makes me make the police man take the drug test when he stops me.

Beams of fire sweep through my head!
We had to sleep train our newborn. It was a real struggle until we found this track, which he fell right asleep to immediately. Now this song plays every evening and he sleeps peacefully for a good 6-7 hours; it's been life-changing, no more constantly getting up throughout the night. All it takes is the right lullaby!
Meshuggahs been putting me to sleep since they came out
Mesuggah managed to make a song that's mainly one note over and over but coincidentally cannot be played by 99% of guitarists.
think about that...
*Because their conformist drones, not Metal heads. Metal is our Religion...and we keep it!*
Perhaps they made it known they’re not looking for anyone to take over until further notice
Are you implying 10% of the population can play this?
10% of professional metal guitarists can’t play this friend...
I meant to say *only* 10% can play this.
"This song is about the Aneurysm that is in your head killing you, and how you change from a living being to a dying being. This song has a lot of metaphors". said Tomas Hake
My girlfriends mother had an aneurysm about 16 years ago and this live since them in a home for eldery people. She's well but can't live without help. Well, her live looks a little bit other than in this video.
