  • Ducati V2 Streetfighter is a bike I've been very excited to ride since its launch earlier in the year. I've spent quite sometime on its v4 brother but can 150 HP and a V-twin motor make a better road bike??

    Great review!! I just hit 800 miles on mine, this bike absolutely rips. I haven't ridden a V4 but I've always been a Ducati twin enthusiast, so much character and heritage. Just open this up and hang on, but the bike really does the great stuff for you, superb handling and braking, it really puts big smile on my face every time I ride it!

    Great review. I shall be getting a test ride soon as, I love my v4 pikes peak, I’ve covered 12400 miles in 14 months , a normal wknd for me is up real early in spring ,summer up here on west coast Scotland, going out in twisties on my doorstep ,do maybe 200 miles so approx 400 on a good wknd. It’s fun ,But I’ve got feeling the V2 streetfighter maybe more fun and more rewarding listening to what your saying. 🤔👍. Stay safe young man 👍

    Nice review Chops. I’m loving my V2SF. I took the V4S out several times before biting the bullet on the V2, but just found the V2 to be so much better on the road. The V4 was too much for the road, but is great for pub bragging rights! I’m getting the Akras fitted this week, so am looking forward to unleashing the full potential of the bike. And to all those moaning about the lack of fuel gauge, it really isn’t an issue. Just reset the trip meter on each fill up, and once you get used to the bike you’ll know how many miles it’ll do once the fuel light comes on.

      Things a ducati owner that doesnt have a fuel gauge says:
      “Aw i use the trip for the fuel”
      “Fuel guages are for pu***es”
      “Its weight saving”
      In all seriousness its due to the tank design and the complexity involved to engineer sensors to be accurate due to this. In short Ducati pick looks over functionality. Its utterly stupid there is no excuse.

    I picked up my Streetfighter V2 a couple of weeks ago. I love it. My only gripes so far are the mirrors (pretty much useless), and the choppiness of the throttle at slow speeds. Other than those two minor details, I very much enjoy this bike.

    • @TazawaTanks
      @TazawaTanks ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @RBT THUNDER I go to a gas station when the fuel light comes on, or I just look or slosh. I fill up before longer rides anyway, even on my other bike with a fuel gauge.

    • @dom9882
      @dom9882 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @RBT THUNDER You get used to it. My 959 Panigale doesn't have a fuel gauge. I just flip the tank cap and peak inside before I set off. Once the light comes on you have about 20km IIRC.

    Loving my sfv2 as my first big bike I don't find it intimidating just fun, sounds amazing looks amazing and I keep opening the garage door to look at it which is an important part of owning a bike I think. I know it's expensive but I have PCP mine and it works out about the same as second hand bikes I was looking at which have higher Apr rates, only pay 150 quid a month which I think is well worth it.

    Hi Chopsy, love your channel. I rode the v4 and found it was a very comfortable and insanely quick when turning the taps on, but seemed quite ordinary at lower revs. I think the V2 is probably a more torquey engine better suited for mid range and obviously high reviving as well.Great channel ,converting a lot of my Swede friends in watching your channel.When you out next with Gregory the man 😂🚤🎶😍🇸🇪👍❤️🙏

    Great vid Chopsy enjoyed that - brought a tear to my eye when you said I was your friend...sniff. Where was I, ah yes, interesting to see you and I both identified similar downsides to the bike but also interesting that we both came to completely different conclusions - given I'm not a hooligan like you I agree that (like the Pani V2) you probably get more out of it when you do rag it - though I'm not a fan of that on the road - but given the V4 is so much more powerful it's odd that Mr Sensible (me) enjoyed that bike so much more than this one! Just goes to show doesn't it....these are only opinions!! Ride safe mate.....

    Superb review chops. I looked at this bike as my new choice of mount but found some things lacking for the price [it's well overpriced]. Like you said no fuel gauge or cruise control. The dash is too small and vibey and that oil filler cap [who designed that needs shooting]. It is a lovely looking bike though but in the end I purchased a brand new Tuono 1100 V4 which was 1000 Euros cheaper [I live in France] so a no brainer for me. The Tuono has a ton more power and torque everywhere and has a fuel gauge.It also has the best sound in motorcycling this side of a Moto GP bike. I understand you can now buy the standard Tuono in the U.K for 14 grand now. That's an absolute bargain for what your getting. Anyway mate ride safe and take care.

    Dear Triumph: notice how Ducati shows odo, coolant temp, air temp speed, gear, mode, and time all on the same screen. Instead of one at a time. Heck, it even shows the state of the side stand sensor, that's awesome. However, it's very hard to say no to the Speed Triple's 1160cc engine, that linear power off the bottom is ridiculous, the engine is awake off-idle and no waiting to 7K rpms.

    Wasn't fussed about Ducati but was looking at an MV Agusta F3 800.
    The panigale V2 is an obvious alternative but they only had a streetfighter at the time so I testrode one.
    An awesome bike that felt right for the road. It felt like "the right bike" for the road. Saw loads of panigaoe V2s at the TT this year more so than any other new sports bike.
    Edit: I've ended up buying an MV agusta F3 800 Rosso after testriding it on the same day as testriding a panigale V2 so rake that as you will XD

      Ohlins does offer some advantages, but not much in terms of handling (for the street). I found that they react to small bumps better - this doesn’t affect the ride much in terms of comfort; slightly quieter road noise, and slightly plusher ride at slow speeds.. that’s about it. Another advantage is the tuning can be done at smaller increments - might benefit some riders for the track, but for the street, hardly important.
      Are they nicer? Yes.. slightly. Are they worth the extra price? Probably not.. although they do make the bike more desirable in the used market.

    Great review. Is it good enough to justify selling my GT1000 and becoming my new street bike? Every time I walk past a 'FIghter at the dealer I spend entirely too much time admiring it, but the same thing happens w/the new Speed Triple RS. What a great time to be rider!

    Hi chopsy! I really enjoyed this review and that you compared it to the Superduke! I have the panigale v2 now, but i´m considering changing next year to either the SFV2 or the Superduke. My take on the SFV2 is that the engine doesnt really fit a naked bike as well as it fits the panigale V2, because it makes a lot more sense with a revvy engine when riding a sportbike, therefore I think the superduke is a better bike for street riding with its enormous amount of torque. I wanna change for a better long road trip bike as well, would you say the superduke or the SFV2 is better for long rides? :) Thank you!

    I loved it when I rode one but the price is a big problem. There’s no way I’d spend £15k on a bike with the agricultural suspension it’s got. Particularly when you can get a Speed Triple RS, with Ohlins, Stylema’s and carbon for similar money.

    • @samuelcurran714

      @@samuelcurran714 don’t get me wrong, it’s better set-up than the Panigale 959/V2…. The 959 was irritating on UK roads when I owned one.
      My 2018 Aprilia has Ohlins however and the difference on the road is stark. I’d never go back to the Showa BPF’s as they definitely feel agricultural in comparison. The WP suspension on the equivalent KTM’s are far better set up than the BPF too.

    • @jameskalas16
      @jameskalas16 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My point being that it’s overpriced. For £12k it would be fine. At £15k the suspension is a let down.

    • @samuelcurran714
      @samuelcurran714 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah I disagree. I've ridden most of the current crop of superbikes and a few other machines and never felt like it was lacking.
      Some bikes had slightly nicer feeling stuff but calling it agricultural is just wrong.

    Still drooling over my sfv2 since owning this July & putting 3k of fun on the odometer. Oil topped up once using a price of tin foil as funnel without any drip issues. The reported vibe thru dash hasn’t proved to be a problem but understand there’s a bit at lower revs. Fuel gauge is ridiculous on a ‘23 bike but managed without any difficulty. The grin factor with this piece of art and Italian engineering is more than worth the very minor gripes.

    • @AlistairCarter-fk9yo
      @AlistairCarter-fk9yo 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      On the hotter days I find the heat from the sun on leathers far more of a problem! Tbh I try to avoid stop go stuff as not a commuter. Can’t say I’ve noticed the seat getting hot. Comments regarding that and the vibe on the dash are not something I’ve noticed to any more extent than any bike.

      @@AlistairCarter-fk9yo thanks for the reply ! How hot does it get in your area during the summer ? Also is there a good amount for torque down low in the rpm's ? Or does the bike need to revved out. I'm trying to decide between the street fighter V2 and a speed triple RS.

    • @AlistairCarter-fk9yo
      @AlistairCarter-fk9yo 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My mate has the speed triple and he felt he needed an akro fitted at 3.5k to give it as good a sound as my stock exh on the SF V2. The V2 is known to really wind up at 6.75-7k so lperforms better with higher revs rather than low end torque. However, it feels to me the balance just somehow feels perfect. By no means is it labouring at 5-6k. I’m stealing others words when I describe tge V Twin as a guttural feeling as opposed to the smoother triple. Both great bikes but think about what you want from the riding experience. I absolutely love the gut feeling from the V2’s almost prehistoric roar but others may love the smoothness of the triple. V twin for me!!

    • @AlistairCarter-fk9yo
      @AlistairCarter-fk9yo 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Fuel gauge required? Absolutely not! Who buys a V Twin looking for motorway cruising at 75mph and refuel when they see the gauge at 25% remaining? Nope, not me. Twist it hard on the A n B roads and enjoy the fun until the orange warning light comes on with 30 odd miles reserve fuel left. What’s the big deal 🤷🏻‍♂️
