The objections at 6:30 don't hold water. App developers still had to support both systems if their apps were to run on the iPhone SE. Except that they didn't! Because all you do is call the biometrics routine, and Apple does the rest.
With a Touch ID button an iPhone is unlocked as soon as it leaves the pocket - can't get quicker than that. Similarly Apple Pay is ready as you double click from the pocket. I can't see why Apple could not put Touch ID some place else, the side for example.

From my experience the one thing that’s a pain with Apple gesture controls is how needlessly tedious it is to get to multitasking. Having to hold and wait feels very unnatural and clunky. It’s why I still use the Home Button on my iPad despite it also allowing for touch controls. To combat that, I propose that you tap the bar to home, and swipe to get to multitasking. Alternately, the could have you use Haptic Touch to get to multitasking and a regular swipe to go home, though that would not be as convenient.
swiping 45 degrees to the right or left avoids the holding time. you should try it out. Additionally, from the Home Screen, swiping to the right on the bar takes you to your last used app.
I much prefer the home button as I have things that I do (I don’t like to call it a tic as it’s partially voluntary but it also isn’t at the same time) where I tap and slide on the screen so I accidentally close apps a lot and it makes playing games that your disconnected from when you close the app very annoying especially if the game already involves swiping
You’re gonna have to acknowledge the fact that both a) the most popular budget iPhone SE still utilizes Touch ID, which still means fragmentation, and b) the skeumorphic design is going back to 3D with the next iOS...

Like when getting an email or text message, I didn’t even have to look at the phone; just physically feel the home button to open it… 2: The swiping requires more dexterity. When I’m cooking in the kitchen, for example, I like the clunkiness of the home button to look at a recipe, versus having to swipe. Or when I’m running around at work, and I get a text or email… 3: Without the physicality of the home button, I often pick up my phone upside down off my bed and dresser, or out of my pocket!!
They should add a feature where users can choose if use a virtual Home button or swipe navigations because not everyone likes the swipe navigation, speaking of that i still use the button navigation because accidental swipes is my problem.

As someone who has recently switched to a phone that doesn't have a physical home button (iOS to OnePlus), I can tell you that not using the home button is simply worse. I keep accidentally click on the home button when I click on the spacebar, and Apples jester base replacement sounds like an absolute UX nightmare. They literally thought shanking your phone was somehow a good way to implement undue and redue, so I have negative faith that they would implement it properly.

I can't be the only one who LIKES the home button & bezels on the 8+.... right? I just think it looks nice. I'm sure I'll get used to face ID & no bezels when I eventually upgrade but I love the classic iPhone 'look'.
I had an Android phone when they introduced swipe gestures, so, when I switched back to an iPhone 11 there was hardly a learning curve. One thing that I have appreciated is that swiping up quickly from the bottom brings back to the home screen like the home button used. That's something I had to use a 3rd party launcher when I was on the Android. I can say from having used both platforms that iOS is a little bit more intuitive.
Knowing this, now I rely on the Apple assistive touch settings even now, as I’m physically unable to fully close down the apps without it now the home button has gone.
I still miss the home button. The swipes are all so similar to eachother. All these years later It’s harder than ever to differentiate between all the slightly different up and down swipes, and also hard to remember which edge of the screen is the home key when in an app like Netflix, which forces you into landscape no matter how you’re holding the phone- when you’re watching a video. The home button was the anchor for iOS. Nothing has really ever replaced that
Ive always said that if Apple were to bring back a finger print scanner, why not put it inside the apple logo on the back of the phone? It would make the cases have to show off the apple logo for brand recognition (Which Apple loves) as well as bring back a feature alot of people still love
I used to like Face ID better than Touch ID but know I’ve found out that Face ID isn’t as secure as Touch ID because I know people that can open each other’s phone because they look alike but with Touch ID no one has the same fingerprints so only one person can open open a phone with touch id
I do wish that they would release a version of flagships that have the home button every year. That way you could have the most recent phone, but also have the home button if you prefer. I have refrained from upgrading my phone because I like the home button and don’t want to switch to using swiping actions instead of just a number of presses of the home button.
@@FasterBueno Yes but the SE has a really old design and trash battery. What I meant is a flagship-sized phone with all the benefits of the flagship but with a home button at the bottom. Even if it was just part of the screen and pressure-activated like with 3D Touch that would be better than the outdated iPhone 8 design of the SE It doesn’t matter though cause I decided to get a new phone anyway and actually found I like the gestures much more than a home button
I love skeuomorphism. I like the early iOS design more. The new design has too much uniformity to me. I wish Apple could release an option to change the design of iOS to the classic skeuomorphic design. iOS 6 was so iconic. It would be nostalgic
I feel like skeuomorphism is ugly and disorienting because it looks to sophisticated compared to the payed back experience of modern iOS. Modern iOS feels like the apple way to make an os

Apple iPad: has a Home button
NwerdMeansNinja *wait What*
GroovyGreay actually the pro does have one. The 1st gen iPad Pro and the 2nd gen all have home buttons.
Alex Tube250 they don’t
Paws & Whiskers the older ones do
Alex Tube250 why don’t you look at the iPad Pro on the Apple.com and they just don’t
Knowing this, now I rely on the Apple assistive touch settings even now, as I’m physically unable to fully close down the apps without it now the home button has gone.
Hey Greg, can we please have music playing all over again like it used to do in past?
I still miss the home button. The swipes are all so similar to eachother. All these years later It’s harder than ever to differentiate between all the slightly different up and down swipes, and also hard to remember which edge of the screen is the home key when in an app like Netflix, which forces you into landscape no matter how you’re holding the phone- when you’re watching a video.
The home button was the anchor for iOS. Nothing has really ever replaced that
Bro I been using an iPhone for 2 weeks and I’m used to it
Still have an 8. My girlfriend have the 11. Still prefer Touch ID. Might be biased but Face ID is still so slow for me.
Bruh
lol iphone users
Likely SE 2 will be the last iPhone with a home button…. And for the ipad, i think the ipad 10 or 11 will be the last ones
In 50 years time I’m expecting Why Apple removed the Apple Company
For me I like the old model that there is home button and bezels from top to bottom, I don't know why I still like it, but I love it ❤❤❤
Love from INDIA 💝💝
Ive always said that if Apple were to bring back a finger print scanner, why not put it inside the apple logo on the back of the phone? It would make the cases have to show off the apple logo for brand recognition (Which Apple loves) as well as bring back a feature alot of people still love
When u ask Timcook the same question his answer would be like "My company myyyy choice"
I think Steve Jobs wouldn’t do this kind of thing ☹️ sadly, he is no longer with us
I love FaceID and the Home Bar! It’s so easy and simple!
Wearing a facemaks (COVID-19) makes you appreciate the homebutton.
Didn't Apple release a software update that allowed you to unlock the phone with a mask? Plus, you have passwords.
I was going to say the same thing. TouchID is much more useful in a worldwide pandemic than FaceID.
I used to like Face ID better than Touch ID but know I’ve found out that Face ID isn’t as secure as Touch ID because I know people that can open each other’s phone because they look alike but with Touch ID no one has the same fingerprints so only one person can open open a phone with touch id
5:14 i can get into my brother iphone because i look like him therefore fingerprint is better and no one is going to copy your finger with glue
Yeah, and also I think the glue fingerprints don’t work
I tried it on my iPad, and it didn’t work
The way I see it “ it’s the 21st century and it’s time to adapt “
I hate the design of the iPhone X. Put the home button back.
Boomer
I do wish that they would release a version of flagships that have the home button every year. That way you could have the most recent phone, but also have the home button if you prefer. I have refrained from upgrading my phone because I like the home button and don’t want to switch to using swiping actions instead of just a number of presses of the home button.
iPhone SE
@@FasterBueno Yes but the SE has a really old design and trash battery. What I meant is a flagship-sized phone with all the benefits of the flagship but with a home button at the bottom. Even if it was just part of the screen and pressure-activated like with 3D Touch that would be better than the outdated iPhone 8 design of the SE
It doesn’t matter though cause I decided to get a new phone anyway and actually found I like the gestures much more than a home button
@@falcondragonslayer Okay that’s great
0:11 wow face...
Honestly the last original home button was on the iPad 9, it clicked instead of vibrating like on iPhones at the time.
U r amazing!
Good video, love your channel
You couldn't even have watched it.
GOOD JOB! YOU GOT THE FIRST COMMENT gyazo.com/a538c6bde8a285fffb27d38bb1634e43
The notch looks significantly UGLIER than the thick bezels imo...
@@staringcorgi6475 To each their own but I think the skeuomorphic design was more relatable to life and humans rather than to robots
8 min for an answer i already knew... come on mate
Make it simpler! Less fragmentation! Less features! It can't go wrong if you don't have it to begin with! You know what's even simpler? Not having a phone! Introducing iNothing!
