I find these kind of tablet's display have a poor color gamut. It's generally too bluish for me. They're at least 7000K color temperature. The reds look washed out or brownish/orangish in hue. If you compare it with a pure red object such as a red solo plastic cup, the red at 255,0,0 would look very muted. The greens look yellowish in hue. The gamut triangle is very narrow that the red and green points are too close to each other at each side of the yellow (580nm) area. The white point (D50) is way over on the blue side of the gamut.
See, this was referring to the legacy era of Android tablets back in the mid 2010s, where they had inferior specs to where flagship phones can easily crush. Back when tablets ranged around $200 to $500 yet were weaker than flagship phones. This was the reason why most devs (other than gaming) stayed away from Android tablets due to how niche they were over iPads and how inferior the hardware on most of these tablets, especially when they ran a mobile operating system but on a larger screen. Now, with Samsung's current era of tablets, this is no longer true.
I once had a $99 dollar tablet when i was around 8. I remember being so excited when going to the shop to get it since I never owned any other device before. Looking back now I remember it being so slow and stuff haha but I didn’t really consider that back then. Now I have a iPad Pro which is obviously so much better and thinking back I don’t think I would see much difference lol.
If you bought a 99 dollar old iPad it would be worse. People are so ridiculous with the comparisons android is worlds better and I know from using both I can’t wait to go back to android iPhone 13 is ass
@@xbrandon2252 so if you bought a 99 dollar worth old iPad it would run good? Lmao that shit would run slow as hell bootloop twice and still not work good and can’t even do shit since it’s outdated and daddy apple won’t let apps work on it anymore at least android has infinite app support apps can be used on the oldest androids
For me, one word... support I had 2 android tablets before I switched over to an iPad, the HP Touchpad and the 2013 Nexus 7. The distinct impression I got during the ownership of both of those tablets was that they're there just to be there as competition to the iPad without being any competition. The software really didn't go anywhere (it felt essentially like the Android phone variant, just scaled for the larger screen). The Nexus 7 was a good device when it work but when it came time to replace it after it suffered from the infamous emmc flash chip failure that plagued the Nexus 7, the Android tablet market had essentially been abandoned so I switched over to iPad and haven't looked back at Android tablet.
@cgwworldministries I liked my 2014 Moto X. At the time, it was a phone that was ahead of the trend with really slim bezels. Motorola essentially stopped software support for it after 2015. In 2016, I switched to both an iPhone and iPad. Both devices are still going strong and still getting software support and improvements. It's going to take a lot to get me to switch back to Android. On the tablet front, there's nothing there to switch back to, basically a ghost town. There are some interesting Android phones, like the One Plus 7 Pro but Android has to step up to win me back.

In my country the word tablet is actually more used than the word iPad, opposite to other cases. I think both ipads and android tablets are less and less used, but what l like about many android tablets is that they have an OLED screen
I have never met an Android user that owns an Android tablet. It's always been an iPad. It's really not surprising why. Just to be clear, I'm not hating on Android tablets and I'm sure there's many of you who have an Android tablet. This is just my personal experience. Edit: Thanks for sharing all the comments and personal experiences you guys have had. You guys really love your Android tablets.
Or for me, I own a Fire tablet, which is technically 'Android', but not really. And that's not on the same playing field as Apple. Maybe planning on buying a Windows tablet in the future (again not the same thing as buying an iPad, although iPad Pro is seen as Apple's beg to differ). In short I'm not a real 'tablet user' otherwise I'm definitely going for an iPad.
And I do know ppl who owns Android tablets! Like some Uber drivers (who usually use a sim-card version, which is basically a huge phone). And I do find it useful for older or (usually less loaded) car models that neither support Apple Carplay or Android Auto, nor have built in navigation. Although I don't see the advantage over iPads in this case.
I think one crucial aspect that wasn’t mentioned in the video is that smart phones have became a necessity in today’s increasingly digitalized world, and where there is necessity, there will be a market for affordable devices. On the contrary, most people purchasing tablets are those who already own phones/laptops and are mainly looking for a more pleasant experience when doing certain tasks with the iPad. In other words, people buy smart phones because they need them, but buy tablets more because they want them.
I fully agree. I myself have become interested in digital art, and using the iPad is just such an amazing experience for that. But it's not like I "need" a tablet to properly pursue that career.
I hate when people say “ my Samsung iPad “ like dude ITS NOT AN IPAD I don’t know if this happens to you but if it does comment I got this video recommended to me again and when I saw my comment I was surprised it got likes lol
Every time I use SamsungPay on my Samsung Gear S3 Frontier watch (which is round), I hear "We don't take Apple Pay"..... does this LOOK like an Apple watch? So I say, "yeah you do...." then use it. "OMG, that actually worked?" Yeah, it did.
I usually only hear kids or people that aren't very good at tech say that. I always have to correct them and explain that going around saying you have an iPad when you're actually referring to a Samsung tablet confuses and offends a lot of people.
I've owned several Android tablets over the years, mostly Amazon's, one Galaxy Note 2014, and they've been good devices for limited tasks. But recently I was given a new iPad mini and it's a joy to use in ways those other tablets aren't. I found Apple's choice of a 4:3 screen very surprising, but then again, it makes it literally the perfect mobile device to watch Frasier, Cheers, 20th century Star Trek, or other older television on. Watching widescreen content on it is perfectly fine too, I guess my brain exaggerated how big those black bars were on older TVs.
if you're a streamer and browser iPads are great but if you want to have control over your files then iOS is not the best solution. This is why so many people hate iOS. I'm an iOS user but I don't like the iphone and ipad anymore. I'm only with iOS because I still hold on to my iPhone SE 2016. Once a small Android phone is out I'm off to android. Apple knows one thing for certain and that is how to milk the cow. Instead of releasing a iPhone SE in small form factor that everyone would buy they've loaded it up with a bunch of gizmos and charged £700 for it. No wonder it didn't sell. In term of tablet formats I think 7 - 8 inches tablets should still prezerve the 16 x 10 format instead of the iPad mini 3 x 4. On a larger screen the 3 x 4 makes sense but on a small screen it helps grip the tablet with one hand better as well as giving it a more book like shape instead of an almost square. I find the 3 x 4 size of the mini totally unfitting as I did have one but sold it and kept the Lenovo tab 4 from 3 years ago even though that tablet has it's own problems. I do agree that overall Apple is the best in pretty much everything but that doesn't translate in everyone's choices as people want more freedom that what what iOS / iPad OS has to offer even though that would come at a cost in terms of performance, performance which to be fair is good enough for basic tasks anyway.
@@florinmoldovanu what the effing hell? I typed you a reply and YT censored it. Anyway I was saying, while iOS has drawbacks and in an ideal world I’d rather have my iPad dual boot iOS and desktop Linux, I’m honestly now wanting to move away from Android due to the fact that when it came to light that Facebook was spying on users even when you’d exited the app, reporting all your website visits and possibly your microphone audio to advertisers, Apple clamped down on such behaviour (greatly angering Facebook) while Android did nothing because spying on user activity is their business model.

My family has only had one android tablet. Which was an Amazon fire 7 which is my sisters and she threw it one day because she was angry and the screen had cracked almost worse than my iPad 2 which took five years of use from a kid to crack the screen. And my new iPad 6th generation which I’m using to write this comment right now. Is so great. There’s so many apps that support the iPad and take it vantage of the iPad and there are some apps that are only compatible with the iPad.
Johnny Wynn My grandparents have Samsung tablets and I’ve been telling them that they need to upgrade them forever. They are so slow and a lot of their updates are just a bunch of malware and viruses. I’ve been trying to get them to buy an Apple product forever. They originally wanted to buy an iPhone or iPod touch to use as a camera but then they didn’t want to. I’m trying to get them to buy an iPad.
Eli Carpenter The updates don’t give malware lol. Android is pretty safe and much safer than windows where it’s extremely easy to get malware, but for older people an iPad is better.
Why android tablets failed, in a nutshell: android tablet experience: - 100$ models for tight budgets (they run like absolute crap tho) - 900-ish$ models too for those who want the best available - will stop getting android updates after ~2 years - will quickly lose most of its resale value as soon as newer model comes out - literally the same stock android UI used on phones, but stretched out - you better get an expensive one or it'll be a lag fest apple tablet experience - only premium models, starting from 400$ - will get software updates for about ~5 years - great resale value, years after release - dedicated UI and UX that makes it stand out from its phone counterpart - works like fucking magic, smooth as silk

I remembered receiving a Huawei tablet. A few years later, it got shelved as half of the screen was not detecting touches. Then we bought another one, this time from Skyworth. A few months later, the glass broke, and we had to dispose it. However, throughout this lengthy time period, our two iPads (which were older than those two tablets) were the survivors. That's way better than the Android tablets, and it still proves true to this day.

It's weird how a sector of Apple users implore Apple to put Mac OS X in the iPad because "it clearly has the processing power now to handle Mac OS". They're missing the very reason why the iPad is a success, not running a desktop OS.
I fully agree. I think they need to make a solution in between. Some people believe Mac OS should replace or take over on iPad even though that’s what makes iPad special. It’s not a mac
One of the great things about modern Android tablets (and let's be honest, I'm talking about Samsung tablets because I otherwise agree there are still many awful Android tablets out there) is they offer multi-user login, and this has been available for some time on them. Apple STILL hasn't offered this and I suspect the main reason for this is they would rather you bought one for each person in the house rather than a family being able to share one device.
and dex feature is also prety great and it feels like you are using a desktop os, and i think tablets apps have caught on these days. Ipad does not have a dex equivleant.
Thing is that iPads are easy to use and users tend to spend much time on then. My brother bought his family's first iPad probably a decade ago. He quickly found one iPad wasn't enough for a family of five...eventually all three children had their own iPad to stop the bickering because a brother or sister had spent too much time on it.
@@robmalcolm8042 the fact that it has more than one user doesn’t eliminate the fact that only one person can use it at a time. Hence, you’d all still be fighting over who’s been using it. On the other note. That’s why the iPad Pro was made for the small sector of multitaskers. Because the average consumer doesn’t care about multitasking. Most iPads are used for TH-cam games and using browsers.
the most criminally underrated tablet OS, blackberry OS. Functionality of the blackberry playbook tablet is the same as modern buttonless tablets, and it was sized considerably smaller than other tablets, but still larger than smartphones with good battery, stereo speakers a good screen and good processing power (same processing power as the iPad of its day but in a smaller form factor) and it was damn the most reliable tablet I have ever seen created. My family has 3 of these tablets and all 3 of them still work 12 years after we first bought them, they have all suffered constant usage and even a few cracks on the screen from being thrown onto concrete several times. Yet they all hold a charge perfectly, and last about 8 hours on a full charge. Not to mention the magnetic charger that has never been put onto any other tablet to this day. Oh, also did I forget to mention it had dedicated micro-usb and mini-HDMI ports alongside the charger, pretty good IO for a tablet.
@Daniel Pacheco after what I saw in wwdc 2021 I think Samsung has a huge potential to take down the iPad with there next tab s8 and revive the tablet industry Even tho they did revive it with the tab s7 We will see , Maybe I’m wrong 🤷🏻♂️
@@Saddam-Hussein I'm a Apple User but i'll admit that Samsung builds good tablets, sure. Personally i prefer iOS. Google just doesn't care anymore. Even if Samsungs UI is good for tablets, most Apps on android aren't optimized for it and this just sucks. Not Samsungs fault tho.
I have 2 Samsung tablets and 1 iPad. I use a Samsung Note for my phone. I personally think iPad easily beats Android tablets. The iPad is decades ahead of android's tablets. I would never trust any android tablet again, unless it's by Google. Also, if your average consumer has a phone and a pc, it's really hard to convince people to get a tablet or wearables. Why do they need it? Apple's ecosystem makes tablets make sense. The integration let's you swiftly change from your laptop to your tablet. It's a shared experience. The tech works together. But with android, you treat wearables, tablets, phones, and pcs as individual computers. And at that point, you dont need that many
@@teodora3 In my experience, Samsungs “ecosystem” isn’t that much of an ecosystem compared to apples. I mean, with one click my ipad becomes a second monitor with full Apple Pencil support, and now with macOS Monterey and iPadOS 15 you can share a mouse and keyboard across two devices, and then of course all the other continuity features like airdrop, handoff, universal clipboard that work with my laptop makes my student life 100x easier… Don’t get me wrong, samsung makes a good tablet too and has cool features like DeX which i wish ipad had, but i think android atm really holds it back for now and prevent Samsung from creating a true ecosystem.

Bought an Asus tablet in 2012 and it broke in 2019. I was happy with my experience and looked for a new Android tablet as a replacement. My searches came to a conclusion that although there were ‘good’ Android tablets at that time, they all paled in comparison with iPads in terms of value for money, considering performance, battery life, and long-term use. The ‘cheap’ Android tablets (at least those cheaper than the basic iPad or on a similar price point) don’t have what I need. Finally decided on an iPad mini 5 and I was not disappointed 😊
Watching this on a Tab A 8.O that I've had for about 4 years. It's sturdy, functional, completely dependable and has a decent display. I don't know what more you could want at less than 1/3 the price of an ipad.
And unlike an iPad your tablet will have a perfect screen ratio for movies. How can anyone watch Netflix on an iPad with those huge black borders taking up 50% of the screen. iPads are crap for movies and youtube
@@MostafaTElmansoury The apps are built for it though. Having Autolayout seriously helps. I don't understand why Google, a web company at the forefront of responsive web could never figure that out.

I'm just waiting on a new mini (the 5 just looks old) But, I do think that android tablets are underrated. Especially if you just want something affordable and good for the value :-)
Yea, but an Amazon Kindle is not an Android tablet though. And I cannot believe you got 71 people to agree with you. 😅 An e-reader is not a tablet computer. Two totally different devices.😂
The video title is misleading.., well, because: "Google's Android is currently dominating the global tablet OS market, with a whopping 60.53% share as of July 2019. That's an impressive 13.65 percentage points increase from July 2018 when the Android OS market share clocked 46.88%."
Gene Paradiso That's not really the case with most Apple products. As far as which is superior, we could debate all day and never get anywhere, but that doesn't really matter anyway. It's an indisputable fact that a large portion of the markup on Apple products is there simply because the Apple logo is on the device.
L Adams probably not what he meant. Whether apple products are worth their price or not isn’t really relevant here. Since android tablets are much cheaper, there’s many more of them. Hence why they sell more; not everyone can afford an IPad, but those who can mostly end up buying an IPad rather than an Android Tablet
BascarooMuffins Not trying to be rude, but do you have any kind of data that can prove the claim that most people who can afford an iPad purchase one instead of an Android tablet? Gene Paradiso claims that android tablets are generally cheaper and you get what you pay for. My statement about the markup on Apple products and whether or not they are worth the cost is relevant as I was contradicting his claim.

My second Android tablet was the Motorola Xoom which had been specifically designed for Honeycomb. It was a good start to the a Android tablet experience. However, many external pieces of hardware wouldn't interface well, if at all. Later, I began to look around for a new tablet. This finally led me to the Samsung Galaxy Note10.1 (2014) w/4G LTE service. This was an excellent choice for many reasons, hardware accessories had, by this time, largely become optimized for Android, and the advanced features of the Note 10.1 sold me. This tablet is still being used by my wife, who loves it. A few months later, I was introduced to the remarkably advanced features of the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 w/4G LTE (much more capable than the Note 10.1 (2014). Both of these tablets also included the amazingly capable S Pen included in an internal silo. The greatly expanded screen real estate of the Note Pro 12.2, and advanced features of this tablet sold me. I've been using this tablet ever since. I have hoped that Samsung would release an advanced version of this tablet for years now, but this tablet is still something that allows me to have a fully functioning office wherever I go. Even so, Android tablets are far from finished. Amazon has their own in-house brand that, and Samsung's 10.5" Tab S6 is really an incredibly featured tablet which features an enclosed, and advanced S Pen. If it were a 12.2" tablet I'd buy it in a moment, but I really need the expanded screen real estate. Your information is dated and inaccurate.
I had an Android tablet and I fully agree with your points. Main issue with Android tablets was, just like you said, the fact they were basically smartphones with bigger screen. While Apple did things to make sure that operating system and applications will use iPad bigger screen and show more content, on Android tablet I had exactly same thing as on my Android smartphone, just bigger.
Just don't let the actual fanboys see your comment lol. I mentioned the same thing about the apps back in 2013, and the comment ended up starting a fireball of death threats, thumbs down and accusation of being an Apple fanboy.
the os on the ipad is horrible for anything serious. look at things like samsung dex, the splitscreen mode (was in android long before ios) and the Mouse support which is plain better. yes the apps are often just sized up phone apps but some like the google apps have a dedicated tablet ui.
@@SimonBauer7 Most Android apps weren't optimized for tablet. They were just bigger version of phone apps. Even if other features were better on Android, still lack of good apps was biggest blocker for many. When I'm using tablet I want to get more content on screen, not have everything bigger. Samsung Dex is fancy docking station for smartphone and completely negates mobility of device that needs to be stationary.
The only tablets that dont suck are samsung tablets. On galaxy apps they have optimized apps. They also have pro apps. Best build quality. You get years of updates ( the tab s3 is still supported.) Etc
Lock down an Android tablet to only allow it to do what an iPad does and you will see a massive performance boost. There is a reason why apple didn't allow widgets, customisation , multi tasking, use of hard drives etc and other companies make them because all the vulnerabilities would be shown and iPad's could not simply manage to do those simple things. From day 1 you could down load a Torrent movie then stream it to your tv, dl roms to your consoles and handhelds without the use of a PC.. being able to do these things requires software and drivers which apple devices did not do therefore they ran quicker and needed less ram. Apple was like a car with a fancy shell that drove smooth and only had limited functions ams came in one model, Android came in thousands of devices and features so every car was different some great and some not so great. Apple at the beginning did need some great things from Samsung like, ram,CPU, screens, storage and batteries to make a top teir device.
@Vegeta Sama IpadOS is going in the right direction because people have been wanting it to replace the laptop for a long time. I bought all the accessories for my iPad but it just couldn't accept peripheral devices. I have always thought apple should concentrate more on the IPad and improving it.
The answer is simple, Apple's SDK is FANTASTIC. Regular software updates, a richer App Store w/ optimized apps, and premium hardware were just the cherry on top. Anyone that doesn't understand that is either in denial or has no experience w/ software development.
I usually recommend iPads for people that want tablets because they really are the best for most people and I own one myself but you are wrong about the original Nexus 7. It was a fantastic tablet with excellent build quality for a low price. I had one and used it for a couple of years which is a lifetime for me using technology.
I just bought a Samsung tab A 8" 2019 with S pen instead of an ipad mini 5 + apple pencil, and I know the ipad mini is actually a beast, I had an ipad for a long time so I was pretty sceptic about buying an android tablet, but it turns out the samsung tablet is great for my current needs, has a better design (in my opinion) and even if its not a powerhouse or have a awesome display its pretty good for the price and even I can still do light sketch on the go, not the best experience but for painting outside is great. So of course, apple is a no brainer tablet wise and I'll probably buy one in the future too... But top performance isn't always what people actually need, actually, with the amount that the ipad mini + apple pencil costs, I bought this tablet, a bed, a desk, and basically renovated my entire bedroom and still had some spare money to burn on family and stuff. It really put things in perspective how I should spend my money from now on, if people just want to read, browse and look videos, there are far more better alternatives out there, also you can put a micro sd card in it! yay!
They were widely available all over the the market & still are where as iPads are usually available at apple stores. Most of my friends have android tablets. With every new year we see more & more reviews of Android tablets. I don't think that's called "failed" when they are still widely available, reviewed and popular.
Not accurate. look at the worldwide market share. Sales are pretty abysmal. Apples iPad market share is at 60% The rest are at the bottom the only one who has some kind of market share is Samsung (not surprising) but even that isn’t all that impressive only being at 20%. After that is amazon at 5%. Android tablet market is pretty bad. Samsung is improving their numbers but that’s only one android tablet device. most of that market share is laughable. I’m all for android tablets getting better because more choices is always gonna be better for the consumer. But as of now they aren’t looking so good. Samsung is trying tho and doing a pretty good job.
I watch this video on my Huawei tablet. I usually use it for TH-cam, Netflix, and Mobile Legends with no lag. My secret: I don't keep unsused apps. For me, less apps mean better device.
I have the iPad 6 ……… but……… It belongs to my school and I would never be able to afford it otherwise And I might have to return it at the end of this school year And there are a lot of restrictions on it ( like I can’t turn off my Bluetooth or my cellular, I can’t airdrop, I can’t delete apps ,I don’t have access to some apps like calls, messages, calculator, or a App Store,we have a one made by the district instead, I can’t sign into Apple ID,the iPad itself comes in this ugly case that we can’t take off or permanently customize, some websites will be blocked,we don’t have Siri and there is no way we can activate Siri). Just to name a few ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ It sucks but it can run the newest OS and people can find ways to get around a lot of the restrictions 😁 😁 😁
The history of Android tablets is closely tied with the Apple iPad. Following his channel, he's pretty unbiased. In this video, he praised Android for dominating the smartphone market over iOS.
Steve Jobs is on record saying that the iPad was in development before the iPhone. The first version of iOS was ran on that iPad.
DepressionOW_ you are correct. He also covers that fact in a previous video. The precursor to the iPhone for the iPad is actually what inspired and helped develop the iPhone.

@Daood Zafar not at all! The iPhone was the first smartphone (touchscreen phone)! There weren't any tablets before then as well.
@ toxic
See, this was referring to the legacy era of Android tablets back in the mid 2010s, where they had inferior specs to where flagship phones can easily crush. Back when tablets ranged around $200 to $500 yet were weaker than flagship phones. This was the reason why most devs (other than gaming) stayed away from Android tablets due to how niche they were over iPads and how inferior the hardware on most of these tablets, especially when they ran a mobile operating system but on a larger screen. Now, with Samsung's current era of tablets, this is no longer true.
Yea while they are gaining some ground ipads are still better at almost everything and businesses and schoolss are using it frequently

I had 2 android tablets before I switched over to an iPad, the HP Touchpad and the 2013 Nexus 7.

Edit: Thanks for sharing all the comments and personal experiences you guys have had. You guys really love your Android tablets.

Most of them know what time it is!
I have an Ipad and recently bought the TAb A with 128gb+ MICRO SD and enjoying it so far

I always have to correct them and explain that going around saying you have an iPad when you're actually referring to a Samsung tablet confuses and offends a lot of people.
sounds like something a boomer would say
I've owned several Android tablets over the years, mostly Amazon's, one Galaxy Note 2014, and they've been good devices for limited tasks. But recently I was given a new iPad mini and it's a joy to use in ways those other tablets aren't. I found Apple's choice of a 4:3 screen very surprising, but then again, it makes it literally the perfect mobile device to watch Frasier, Cheers, 20th century Star Trek, or other older television on. Watching widescreen content on it is perfectly fine too, I guess my brain exaggerated how big those black bars were on older TVs.
@Youdubham sherry, Niles? ❤️
if you're a streamer and browser iPads are great but if you want to have control over your files then iOS is not the best solution.
I do agree that overall Apple is the best in pretty much everything but that doesn't translate in everyone's choices as people want more freedom that what what iOS / iPad OS has to offer even though that would come at a cost in terms of performance, performance which to be fair is good enough for basic tasks anyway.

android tablet experience:
- 100$ models for tight budgets (they run like absolute crap tho)
- 900-ish$ models too for those who want the best available
- will stop getting android updates after ~2 years
- will quickly lose most of its resale value as soon as newer model comes out
- literally the same stock android UI used on phones, but stretched out
- you better get an expensive one or it'll be a lag fest
apple tablet experience
- only premium models, starting from 400$
- will get software updates for about ~5 years
- great resale value, years after release
- dedicated UI and UX that makes it stand out from its phone counterpart
- works like fucking magic, smooth as silk

One of the great things about modern Android tablets (and let's be honest, I'm talking about Samsung tablets because I otherwise agree there are still many awful Android tablets out there) is they offer multi-user login, and this has been available for some time on them. Apple STILL hasn't offered this and I suspect the main reason for this is they would rather you bought one for each person in the house rather than a family being able to share one device.
and dex feature is also prety great and it feels like you are using a desktop os, and i think tablets apps have caught on these days. Ipad does not have a dex equivleant.
Thing is that iPads are easy to use and users tend to spend much time on then.

the most criminally underrated tablet OS, blackberry OS.

@@Saddam-Hussein I'm a Apple User but i'll admit that Samsung builds good tablets, sure. Personally i prefer iOS. I used Android phones for over 10 years but switched to iPhone and i'm way happier now. The problem isn't with the Samsung tablets. The problem is Android for tablets itself.
And at that point, you dont need that many
@@exzaf Samsung also has their own ecosystem

Most "bubbles" are actually small dirt particles trapped between the glass and the film. You can't blame the protector for that, but only yourself. If they were just bubbles, you could basically move them to the border and be done with them

Plus, you make more money on the apple platform than the play store

I usually recommend iPads for people that want tablets because they really are the best for most people and I own one myself but you are wrong about the original Nexus 7. It was a fantastic tablet with excellent build quality for a low price. I had one and used it for a couple of years which is a lifetime for me using technology.
Unpopular take but I always thought of an android tablet when I heard someone say tablet
It really put things in perspective how I should spend my money from now on, if people just want to read, browse and look videos, there are far more better alternatives out there, also you can put a micro sd card in it! yay!
