I’m still using a 6s but I have the iPad Pro 2018. While I know you will get better haptics on the iPhone (I’ve used the Pros in store) than on the iPad it will still never be as intuitive or as quick as 3D Touch. I’m getting annoyed in IOS 13 when the menu pops up instead of the rearrange apps. Yes dropping 3D Touch allows for a much bigger battery but I will still really miss it. Hopefully if batteries get massive innovation then 3D Touch can come back. I doubt it though. :(

Exactly, the vast majority of users have no idea they have 3D Touch...haptic touch works just fine on my iPhone 11, it’s virtually identical to the 3D Touch on my iPhone 8.
I never knew what it was or how it works until now and every time I went to go delete a app it would pop up with that and I would get angry and hold it even harder until I give up now I under stand hahahahaha

InventorZahran 327 that’s not an issue. That’s how it works now. I’ve disabled 3D Touch on mine since now I can just wait half a second and do the same things. 👌🏽

It was removed to help water resistance. The plastic case for the headphones was removed long, long ago and while profit was likely a part of it so was being enviorvmentally friendly.
One of the most underrated features. An evolution of it would’ve been to navigate deeper and deeper into folders and such without lifting a finger…just sliding and pressing different depths without lifting a finger during each session…kind of like a cursor.

After the iOS 13 update on my iPhone 7 I have haptic touch AND 3D Touch. Still the 3D Touch is faster and I prefer it. I had something like haptic touch on my iPad 6g so it’s nothing new to me
Adam Kowalski 3D Touch is faster but now it essentially does the same thing as press and hold, just a few milliseconds faster. You can no longer peek and pop like before which sucks
Thugs Bunny Producing models with 3D touch was more expensive, it had multiple pieces of expensive hardware in the phone to make it possible. They took those expensive pieces of hardware out, and sold the iPhone X and every iPhone proceeding at the same or higher price point without that hardware.

The 3D Touch made so much sense for the Apple Watch. It’s a great way to introduce a ‘button’ without physically having one. I think it could have been huge had they added it during the iPhone X launch.

it was so much easier to instantly move apps by holding down lightly, while wanting to see previews while pressing harder. So annoying having to hold, and then click “edit home screen” just to move something smh
The great thing is that Apple will still be using the hardware on the MacBook trackpads so it won’t be too hard manufacturing wise for them to resurrect it.
Mr Emman very true ! I believe the same. It adds another dimension to smart phone and to computing technology ! Apple may have given it up but I hope they are keeping the technology with them. It may come back soon !

3D Touch, especially peek and pop, was one of the best UI improvements I’ve ever used. Even after this video, I can’t comprehend why they scratched it.
3D Touch was amazing for gaming. Pressure sensitive analog like precision for throttle in racing games and ADS to firing in shooters. It’s a major step back considering the release of Apple Arcade. But I suppose the adoption of connecting PS4 and Xbox controllers natively to iOS helped mitigate some of that. But sometimes it just isn’t practical to use a controller.
3D Touch revolutionized how we interacted with our iPhones. I now have the 12 Pro Max and I’ll tell you coming from the iPhone X; it’s a big difference. The screen is awesome, but with Haptic Touch it‘s significantly less accurate when navigating the screen.
You hit the nail on the head. The problem with 3D touch was, you had to guess which apps you could 3D touch and which you couldn't. That got so frustrating, that we stopped using it altogether.

I’m one of those people who used it daily. I see that I can’t replicate 3D Touch on what’s up for example, haptic touch doesn’t seem to work like 3D Touch at all. With 3D Touch I could read a message without triggering its “read” check marks for example, so that I could respond later.
Rohit Ramachandran no they dont know that, they will only know unless you reply and it still says delivered. That’s why turn if your read receipts then turn them back on when your ready to reply.
3D touch was more expensive to make on Apple's side so it was one of their main reasons why they replaced it with a cheaper option, haptic touch. However, because of using haptic touch instead of 3d touch, Apple should reduce the prices of their iphone's that have 3d touch as it is not as premium as 3d touch!
i absolutely love 3D touch, its really useful. Using haptic touch just feels slow and sluggish, i love how 3D touch allowed you to instantly bring out options and whatever it does at your command and does not have to wait for a specific time. probably my most favorite feature of an apple product

Brawndo you can use haptic touch on your 3d touch iphone, and you can try the haptic touch by simply pressing lightly in the space bar on the keyboard.
One of the reasons they removed it because they could make more room for a bigger battery, but mainly because not many people knew what it did or even that it existed.
one of my friends has a 7 plus since September of 2017 and she only discovered that she could 3d touch on the control centre last week lol i use it daily

I actually am happy that you mentioned the keyboard curser. I had an iPhone X and just upgraded to the iPhone 13 Pro Max, and I thought they got rid of the curser trackpad feature. I didn’t know that holding the space, now does the same thing. I will still have to get used to it, because it worked better with 3D Touch.
@erik FENOMEN for now I am good with the 7, I hope it lasts as much as possible. The only problems that I have are that the battery doesn't last as long, the OS is kinda slow and I've got no memory to do pretty much anything lol but to use Whatsapp and normal stuff it's fine still.
One day I told my mom: “Do you know that if you hard press on certain apps or menus, you can trigger some shortcuts?” Then my mom is very surprised that she can actually do that to her phone and tried it out. So that basically means my mom used her iPhone X for 2 years and she don’t even know 3D Touch even existed.

7:24 you can still highlight text. Just place another finger on the keyboard while holding the space bar and then slide the finger on the space bar. You will highlight text. :)
GalaxyNinja66 I thought the same till I found out an easy way to do it. At first I thought you would have to Haptic Touch the icon then select “edit home screen” on the drop down menu. Faster way to do it is to Haptic Touch the icon and immediately drag slightly once you feel the haptic click before the drop down menu pops out. You’re welcome
I am still using iphone 6s and love 3D touch been using it since 3 n half years. I was about to upgrade to 11 pro but i am not doing it now because i dont want to miss 3d touch. May be till next year I may overlook this feature and get iphone 11s instead :) It would be hard for me to miss headphone jack and 3d touch both. Love both of them.

I am happy that I have the iPhone which has its own headphone jack. May be till next year I get something very special in the iPhone that tempts me to upgrade to it. One of few features that I personally as an Android user admired was 3d touch it was practical and only mainstream phone with 3d touch technology was iPhone Pst fun fact for you before 3d touch Samsung had a different implementation of a feature similar to 3d touch it was called Air view basically it did what 3d touch does but instead of force press you hovered your finger over for explane a link and it did the peak and pop thing you hovered over it it did the peak and you tapped it it would do the pop just find it interesting how differently the two manufacturers implemented the same thing btw Samsung removed it from its phones (it launched on s4 and removed on s6) for the exact same reason as Apple did with iPhone plus Samsung couldn't make the technology work with the curve of s6 edge and it wouldn't make scene to add it only to the cheaper flat screen s6 but i kinda miss it it was a real show teller to do that.

I used to play cod TDM on Xs max it was so much fun, I didn’t need to press separate button to toggle iron sight just press little harder to toggle I stopped playing that game since they removed 3D Touch.
I remember when I had the 6s, you can hard press the left side of the screen and it would activate the app switcher. Not sure why any of the later phones didn’t have it.
I love 3D Touch! It was the main reason I upgraded to the 6S Plus from the 5S. I still use it today after upgrading to the 8 Plus and now the XS Max. I may have to keep the XS for longer now that one of the main features I use on the daily is gone. We’ll see what happens though 🤷♂️
I was a 3d touch power user. But its worth mentioning that apple came up with decent to brilliant alternatives to almost every 3d touch use case without the pressure screen
Alif Salleh yep Lando Land is actually right 3D touch exists from 6s to Xs and apple made it faster with iOS 13 just before they removed it and now iPhone 11 looks much slower with haptic touch
It’s such a shame they decided to remove 3D touch, Haptic Touch (if you can even call it a feature) sucks. It’s not even that it takes longer per se, I just love the satisfying feeling and the haptic feedback that comes with it. One of my literal favorite things to do on my iPhone XS Max was literally just pressing the lock screen flashlight button on and off and on and off. It’s so satisfying. But truly, for the actions that it replaces, Haptic Touch is not enjoyable.
I don't get why they can't still have this feature on the Pro Max models or something. I'd literally pay the extra cost of Pro Max of over Pro just for the 3d Touch, if it was available.. It was one the features that made me fall in love with my iPhone when I made the switch from Android phones back when the iPhone 8 was the newest
I'm an Android guy, but the 6s was my last iPhone. 3D touch was very cool, and I loved it. Haptic touch is indeed inferior, its what's on my current Android. 3D touch adds an additional layer and another way of navigating. You can only do so much with a touch screen, so more ways to interact with it is always a plus. In addition, 3d touch was great when navigating a curser through a text message to edit.
i finally retiring my xs max, and now got a iphone13, damn i miss 3D touch immediately, since the OS is smooth anyway, so somehow i feel like it is slower, since i have to hold it for a while, where as before i can just press harder to activate it, not mention is haptic is very satisfying .
I have been using an iPhone 14 pro Max since December. I miss 3D Touch a lot. Especially the trackpad mode like you mentioned is missing or hole worse: activating the flashlight from the home screen has become soundier more complex and lengthy
Controlling the cursor and selecting text when typing is my absolute favorite. I still get people looking at me while doing that and ask me “wow, how did you do that?”.
lowkey my favorite feeling, and that selecting text thing is something i use 24/7, which is keeping me from upgrading (i literally dont know how to type without it)

3D Touch, especially peek and pop, was one of the best UI improvements I’ve ever used. Even after this video, I can’t comprehend why they scratched it.
3D Touch was amazing for gaming. Pressure sensitive analog like precision for throttle in racing games and ADS to firing in shooters. It’s a major step back considering the release of Apple Arcade. But I suppose the adoption of connecting PS4 and Xbox controllers natively to iOS helped mitigate some of that. But sometimes it just isn’t practical to use a controller.

3D Touch revolutionized how we interacted with our iPhones. I now have the 12 Pro Max and I’ll tell you coming from the iPhone X; it’s a big difference. The screen is awesome, but with Haptic Touch it‘s significantly less accurate when navigating the screen.
You hit the nail on the head. The problem with 3D touch was, you had to guess which apps you could 3D touch and which you couldn't. That got so frustrating, that we stopped using it altogether.
There’s a lot of peek and pop features that are gone that really annoy me.

I’m one of those people who used it daily. I see that I can’t replicate 3D Touch on what’s up for example, haptic touch doesn’t seem to work like 3D Touch at all. With 3D Touch I could read a message without triggering its “read” check marks for example, so that I could respond later.

iOS 13 doesn't remove the 3D Touch features if you already have the hardware... It works like it used to in iOS 12.
It was only removed for a short period in a iOS 13 beta. You can install the newest version. They won't remove it, that would cause a shitstorm.

3D touch was more expensive to make on Apple's side so it was one of their main reasons why they replaced it with a cheaper option, haptic touch. However, because of using haptic touch instead of 3d touch, Apple should reduce the prices of their iphone's that have 3d touch as it is not as premium as 3d touch!
i absolutely love 3D touch, its really useful. Using haptic touch just feels slow and sluggish, i love how 3D touch allowed you to instantly bring out options and whatever it does at your command and does not have to wait for a specific time. probably my most favorite feature of an apple product
Anyone using a new iPhone without 3D touch can say how they like it? I used it mostly for the keyboard cursor. Felt like having a 2 buttons mouse. Not a fan of long touch. Thanks

Brawndo you can use haptic touch on your 3d touch iphone, and you can try the haptic touch by simply pressing lightly in the space bar on the keyboard.

One of the reasons they removed it because they could make more room for a bigger battery, but mainly because not many people knew what it did or even that it existed.

I actually am happy that you mentioned the keyboard curser. I had an iPhone X and just upgraded to the iPhone 13 Pro Max, and I thought they got rid of the curser trackpad feature. I didn’t know that holding the space, now does the same thing. I will still have to get used to it, because it worked better with 3D Touch.

Then my mom is very surprised that she can actually do that to her phone and tried it out. So that basically means my mom used her iPhone X for 2 years and she don’t even know 3D Touch even existed.
Therein lies the problem. "Certain" apps and menus; "some" shortcuts. Who wants their phone to require specific and inconsistent interaction?

7:24 you can still highlight text. Just place another finger on the keyboard while holding the space bar and then slide the finger on the space bar. You will highlight text. :)

At first I thought you would have to Haptic Touch the icon then select “edit home screen” on the drop down menu.
Faster way to do it is to Haptic Touch the icon and immediately drag slightly once you feel the haptic click before the drop down menu pops out.

I am still using iphone 6s and love 3D touch been using it since 3 n half years. I was about to upgrade to 11 pro but i am not doing it now because i dont want to miss 3d touch. May be till next year I may overlook this feature and get iphone 11s instead :)

Well there are some people in this world who doesn’t want to get into this dongle thing. I am happy that I have the iPhone which has its own headphone jack. May be till next year I get something very special in the iPhone that tempts me to upgrade to it. Otherwise I’ll go for Samsung S series which still has headphone jack.

Pst fun fact for you before 3d touch Samsung had a different implementation of a feature similar to 3d touch it was called Air view basically it did what 3d touch does but instead of force press you hovered your finger over for explane a link and it did the peak and pop thing you hovered over it it did the peak and you tapped it it would do the pop just find it interesting how differently the two manufacturers implemented the same thing btw Samsung removed it from its phones (it launched on s4 and removed on s6) for the exact same reason as Apple did with iPhone plus Samsung couldn't make the technology work with the curve of s6 edge and it wouldn't make scene to add it only to the cheaper flat screen s6 but i kinda miss it it was a real show teller to do that.

I used to play cod TDM on Xs max it was so much fun, I didn’t need to press separate button to toggle iron sight just press little harder to toggle I stopped playing that game since they removed 3D Touch.
I remember when I had the 6s, you can hard press the left side of the screen and it would activate the app switcher. Not sure why any of the later phones didn’t have it.

I love 3D Touch! It was the main reason I upgraded to the 6S Plus from the 5S. I still use it today after upgrading to the 8 Plus and now the XS Max. I may have to keep the XS for longer now that one of the main features I use on the daily is gone. We’ll see what happens though 🤷♂️

Went from an iPhone X to the iPhone 13 Pro Max and I do notice myself missing 3D Touch
iPhone 15 Pro now and I still miss 3D Touch. We’ll see what I think in another 2 years when I upgrade possibly

I’ve noticed that with Haptic Touch, there are still some features of 3D Touch still there so it feels that 3D Touch didn’t die off completely.

It’s such a shame they decided to remove 3D touch, Haptic Touch (if you can even call it a feature) sucks. It’s not even that it takes longer per se, I just love the satisfying feeling and the haptic feedback that comes with it. One of my literal favorite things to do on my iPhone XS Max was literally just pressing the lock screen flashlight button on and off and on and off. It’s so satisfying.
But truly, for the actions that it replaces, Haptic Touch is not enjoyable.
I don't get why they can't still have this feature on the Pro Max models or something. I'd literally pay the extra cost of Pro Max of over Pro just for the 3d Touch, if it was available.. It was one the features that made me fall in love with my iPhone when I made the switch from Android phones back when the iPhone 8 was the newest

I'm an Android guy, but the 6s was my last iPhone. 3D touch was very cool, and I loved it. Haptic touch is indeed inferior, its what's on my current Android. 3D touch adds an additional layer and another way of navigating. You can only do so much with a touch screen, so more ways to interact with it is always a plus.
In addition, 3d touch was great when navigating a curser through a text message to edit.
i finally retiring my xs max, and now got a iphone13, damn i miss 3D touch immediately, since the OS is smooth anyway, so somehow i feel like it is slower, since i have to hold it for a while, where as before i can just press harder to activate it, not mention is haptic is very satisfying .

I have been using an iPhone 14 pro Max since December. I miss 3D Touch a lot. Especially the trackpad mode like you mentioned is missing or hole worse: activating the flashlight from the home screen has become soundier more complex and lengthy
I seriously considered iPhone 8 over iPhone SE2 just because of 3D Touch, I went with the SE2 for the A13 chip, but I really would like 3D Touch.
I loved the real haptic feedback when I had my 6s, and 8. I didn’t expect to switch to the 11 but I really missed it when I “upgraded”

Controlling the cursor and selecting text when typing is my absolute favorite.
I still get people looking at me while doing that and ask me “wow, how did you do that?”.

The trackpad still exists, just only on the spacebar. If not, check settings to turn it on.
