Hey @Greg, just a correction: Google is not the “creator” of Android, as mentioned in this video. It was created by Andy Rubin, which was later bought by Google and further developed by them.
is it not redundant due to how android is open source and the modern version is nothing like the original? he was semantically inaccurate. if the correct wording is "(current) developer" and not "creator" how many people will actually note the difference?

They also have access to your bank info and some other crap. scary
Thats right - Google doesnt sell your data like Facebook does it instead takes in ad requests from third Parties and distributes the ads to the users based on the knowledge they have about you - but the data doesnt leave Googles Servers - and why should it - you are much more powerful and valuable for your customers when you have something they dont have - I've never understood why Facebook is really selling the actual Data - they make themselves redundant by every piece of knowledge they give away - Google always will be the one in power as their customers get nothing of their knowledge ;) If theres anything to really be afraid of when it comes to Google its rather just how much THEY know about everyone and what they will so with that information 😁

This is right. Google actually almost never sells your plain user data to any other company. They just use your data to build an anonymous profile from you and make all ads you see on the web that are provided by google for any website be actuall relevant to you and not just random ass shampoo or dog's food ads. Or apps recomendations on the play store or videos on youtube, or interesting locations for you on google maps etc. What Google sells to third parties is ACCESS to this anonymous profile, not the data itself. Google sells you the ability to target users on their platform. Google makes money from ads, and they sell companies access to the tools and targets for their ads, not the data. RAID Shadow Ls game doesn't know you like games. They just asked and paid Google to show their ad to anonymous user PROFILES (not people) that Google knows usually search for gaming content. This is a VERY big difference. And you know what, Apple does exactly this. Google could very well also do marketing stunts like Apple does. Oh wait, they do, but no one cares, because it seems that this world (USA mostly lol) only see and hear about Apple stuff and not about Google or Samsung. Google is also trying to destroy Facebook's predatory user collection on Android for years now, and Facebook is also really mad at Google for this. But at the end of the day, none of them not even Apple really actually cares for your privacy, as they collect as much data as Google from your iPhone even without your consent, and also sell it to third parties. It's all in their terms of service, just buried deep into them. In Apple's terms of service, their consideration for what is "personal data" is very different from what we expect. And they do this on purpose, they market that they don't collect or sell your personal data, but that "personal data" is now what you are thinking it is... You are right by trusting Apple more than Facebook, but Apple is not better than Google. Apple sadly don't genuinely care about our privacy. No company does. Our data is worth more than pure gold, and Apple can't run away from it. Google also is actively for years forcing Facebook to back down on their predatory data collection and every Android release blocks even more app's access to users data without user's consent. The newly announced Android 12 is focused on privacy. Google lives from selling ads, but they actually anonimize everything and don't sell it directly to other companies. Apple is EXACTLY the same, but it's buried into their terms of service, very hard to find. Google also does a lot of ads about this and talks a lot about privacy, but no one cares, everyone just pays attention to Apple and Apple is gladly using this opportunity for their own benefit. In Apple's terms of service, their consideration for what is "personal data" is very different from what we expect. And they do this on purpose, they market that they don't collect or sell your personal data, but that "personal data" is now what you are thinking it is... I understand companies using your data to push you adds catered to your online habits. But when they actually sell your data to literally anybody that would buy it, for whatever reason, its worrying. One example is adding a new phone number to WhatsApp (which is Facebook owned), and before you know it you get phone calls from literal scammers.
Or people against misinformation: Not sure how Facebook does it, but Google does not sell data. They sell ads and use your data to choose which ads to show you. That data is never shown to third parties unless you specifically give them access to it.

You should not trust Apple. Here is why: Closed source software (and hardware nowadays) - It's impossible to audit the code. Planned obsolecense - Cashflow is more important than security updates for Apple. They do bloated software that's fancy on the surface, but usually they lack behind under the hood. The only OS that I choose to trust are OpenBSD. Absolutely everything including the developers internal discussions are public. Everything is Open Source and they audit their code like noone else. They are the most cutting edge when it comes to innovate for making Internet more secure. They consider even a minor spelling mistake in a manual to be a bug. All platforms today is dependent on stuff that OpenBSD gave them. They simply does not ever send any information out to any shady cloud services or telemetry (which apple do) MacOS now asks you things like "would you like to allow to be allowed to access your data etc. I guess it's a good idea, but every user will just click "yes" on anything anyway. In OpenBSD, the default setting is that any browser is limited to only have write permission to your download folder and it's config files. I'm not saying that OpenBSD is the right choice for the average Apple user. And that's because the average Apple user isn't interrested in security and privacy. If they were, they would probably not use a closed source system. The other day, I was analyzing some firewalls. Turns out that both Apple, Google and MS-devices initiates traffic when idle, even if no user is logged in. The real-time logs showed a steady stream of about ten times the amount of devices in unique established conlem: Apple usnections. The only machines that "kept quiet" was the OpenBSD machines. And they were both used as laptops, workstations and servers with actually the largest amount of different apps and services on them. I'm not gonna bore you with more details, but lets say that I'm more impressed with any random Linux machine when it comes to trust in privacy and security. Linux isn't that good either, but that croud usually has way better ethics than the money-factories. And Microsoft is in this regard as usual the village idiot.
Why not linux linux seems great although there are some sketchy things before that's happened mostly due to canonical And ubuntu. but it seems like a really good operating system.

Do not, of course apple don't sells users "personal data" but what indentify as a "personal data" that is the tricky part according to "Apple" advertising identifier does not indentify as personal data, but that's what third parties have been using for years to track users and targeting with personalize ads, they say third parties should strip all of users data but how the hell Apple will know about it and Facebook use to have the same policy and they failed miserably billion times, best example Cambridge analytica, on top of that Apple can share your data to their partners, service providers and marketers for as long as they don't use it for marketing purposes, but in recent updates they said, users could stop third parties to collect any of their data but then Apple uses the Apple ID to personalize targeted ads on their own platforms they don't let any third parties use this data so they could monopolize that data, that's why they say whatever happens in your iPhone stays in your iPhone, back in 2015 they even did a huge PR by not unlocking a iPhone of a terrorist but then everybody went silent when Apple decided to corporate with law enforcements, Apple collects every ounce of data they could get their hands on, if Apple is good at something then that is marketing and lies.

Google's main business isn't selling user data to third parties, but selling ads based on user data. That's a VERY big difference.
This guy doesn't really care about accuracy when mentioning anything Google related 😂
does google then do the number crunching? does facebook then as well or is that outsourced?
Wait what? Google creates ads accordingly to user data and sells these ads?
Thats right - Google doesnt sell your data like Facebook does it instead takes in ad requests from third Parties and distributes the ads to the users based on the knowledge they have about you - but the data doesnt leave Googles Servers - and why should it - you are much more powerful and valuable for your customers when you have something they dont have - I've never understood why Facebook is really selling the actual Data - they make themselves redundant by every piece of knowledge they give away - Google always will be the one in power as their customers get nothing of their knowledge ;)
If theres anything to really be afraid of when it comes to Google its rather just how much THEY know about everyone and what they will so with that information 😁

@@holyaubergine why are you laughing explain why?
You should not trust Apple. Here is why:
Closed source software (and hardware nowadays) - It's impossible to audit the code.
They simply does not ever send any information out to any shady cloud services or telemetry (which apple do)
MacOS now asks you things like "would you like to allow to be allowed to access your data etc.
The real-time logs showed a steady stream of about ten times the amount of devices in unique established conlem:
Apple usnections.
