Taking An Anti-Gun New Yorker & Brit Shooting For The First Time
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 30 ก.ย. 2024
- Three weeks ago, I invited an Anti-Gun New Yorker and an Anti-Gun Brit on my podcast. These are two women with very different backgrounds: Beverly is from New York and is pretty much anti-gun. Crystal is from the UK, where gun ownership is almost non-existent.
We met during what was supposed to be a laid-back Sunday Funday, but my extroverted friend decided to stir things up. He was wearing this “Need Money for Pew Pew” shirt, and when Crystal asked what it meant, well… that’s when the fun started.
Next thing I know, we’re deep in a gun debate.
I knew this conversation would be a killer podcast, so we took it to the mics.
• Guns Are The Problem -...
On the podcast, we dove into the subject of guns, and it was clear where each of them stood. The New Yorker is Full-blown anti-gun, convinced that a world without guns would be a safer one.
The Brit, though, is more neutral. She’s been living in Texas for a while and even shot a gun once before. She wasn’t thrilled by the idea of guns but was willing to learn more.
During the podcast, I knew they represented two essential sides of the conversation.
Fast-forward to today, and we take these anti-gun girls shooting handguns and rifles!
You never want to throw a big, intimidating gun at someone already on edge. I started them off with the FN 502 Tactical-a .22 caliber handgun with a suppressor.
The idea here was to give them something that looks serious enough to feel like a “real gun,” but with minimal recoil and sound, so they wouldn’t get overwhelmed. I wanted them to see that guns don’t have to be scary, especially when you’re in control of them.
I could tell right away that Crystal was comfortable, which made the whole experience much smoother for her. She’s definitely not anti-gun, but she’s also not waving the pro-gun flag. But after this session, I saw her becoming more open to it.
Here’s something most people don’t realize: shooting a handgun is actually more complicated than shooting a rifle.
It seems like it should be easier because it’s smaller, right? But with a handgun, you’ve got so many little mechanics to master-grip, sight alignment, trigger control.
Taking Crystal and Beverly shooting was an eye-opener for them and me. I have a lot of respect for both of them, especially Beverly. I know how paralyzing fear can be, and she fought through it, gave the experience an honest try, and walked away a better person for it.

“No longer anti gun girl”
When you have to hug it, and the grip isn't the only support you have, i can see why she felt it was less complicated and a bit more natural.
@Tyrael112 this is what gets me so angry at the anti gunners. They have no idea how much easier it is for a newbie or someone with less training to use a rifle like an AR15. They scream that you only need a pistol to defend yourself. Yet they've never see the intense dedication it takes just to use a handgun as effectively as a rifle.
In the old days, rifles and shotguns were for women and kids. Or for hunting at range. Men used pistols.

Not even in Hollywood cowboy world was that true.
@@shaunkelly9053 Because no cowboy carried a Winchester in a saddle scabbard when driving cattle...

Should have them back on for a followup interview. Have their opinions changed now that they have some exposure to these firearms?
I second that.
I would prefer taking them to the range a few times before having them on the podcast. Let them get comfortable where they want to explore larger caliber rifles and pistols. So they can see what it really means. Have them shoot an AR and a mini-14 and then ask them, what is the difference? Why should the AR be banned vice the mini-14? I would be interested in their opinion when they learn they are the same thing just look and operate differently. Letting them shoot a 12ga and showing how devastating it is vs a AR would also help.
I see a ton of content potential by involving these two ladies and it could all be used to help bring more people to gun debate table with knowledge and experience vs opinion and fear.
What they don’t get is that in a world with guns, or let’s take it further and say a word without weapons at all, the biggest man is free to do whatever he pleases. I can’t take a 6’7” 300lb dude in a fist fight, but with a minuscule 115gr of lead on my side I stand an equal chance.
@@Shortfuse39 like he said in the video, they are beginners. It takes a while for a beginner to get use to handling them before throwing them into the ring with an AR or any large handgun or rifle. That’s exactly why he started them off with a 22 caliber. One time at the range doesn’t make one comfortable enough to jump right to the most popular rifle there is. JMO
@@scottborck9396 I did say a few more times. What that actual number is, is unknown and up to CN. I agree with you though.
she says: No one should have guns.
what she should be saying: No one should ever commit crimes.
Issue is the world isn't perfect you don't understand why people are committing crimes, the government is overtaxing the poor and trying to transition the country into communism, people get desperate because they're trying to feed families and survive and maybe thrive and well crimes are often times committed because of those reasons not everyone in America is afforded the same opportunities and the government doesn't do a thing to help those who need it, it's not a black and white concept, human greed and people's inability to stand up to the government are why crimes exist. Your paid to shut up while the rest around you suffer makes you part of the problem. People need to understand that when you introduce drugs on the Streets you introduce crime from irresponsible decisions when you create a poor class so you can be rich you create an organized system of crime so that they too can experience the American dream, our system is corrupt and nobody does anything.

Great job being patient with both ladies. I bet they both walked away more informed and maybe even had some fun.
No, they are now even more scared and confused. Most likely they will never agree to touch gun again in their life, or it will be very hard to convince them to visit the range. Very, very wrong approach was taken at the range.
Beverly trying to catch hot brass wearing that. Surely someone told her that’s not smart range attire?
Try convincing a girl that's she's "wearing inappropriate clothes". Even if you're right, good luck.
I was once shooting at a gun range when a young lady was wearing an open type blouse a few bays over with a male friend. Suddenly the brass from one spent round flew into her top. To hear her it was as if it was the hottest thing that ever touched her skin. She had to reach in and pull out the hot brass out.
Unlikely in this scenario unless she's standing to the right of either of them. He probably had whichever of them not shooting stand back. At a range with divided stalls or several shooters lined up next to each other, she would be more vulnerable to that.
Scars are cool

Thanks Colion for your continued gun proselytization.
Teaching gun safety is #1. Teaching them how important our Rights are, and being able to feel comfortable and confident is job #2. Now hopefully these young ladies have a different stance.

She's a person with that much anxiety, who then tells everyone that they have to give up their guns so that she will feel safe? That is one hell of a bubble she lives in and who ruins things for everyone else. So scared that they think everyone should conform to what they want or else they have a panic attack while at the same time being narcistic and want everyone's attention to know how anxious they are.
Except she broke out of that bubble and gave it a try, perhaps changing her perspective and being more neutral, so let's cheer that on instead 👏🏻 we want more people to try it before forming an extreme opinion
Props to her for breaking out a bit. Some people just need some encouragement and a bit of comfort. One of the primary issues with the 2A community is we come across as elitist and unapproachable.

Awesome job. I just did the same thing as you last month. A long time friend of my wife moved out to New York many years ago and comes back to Minnesota every few years to visit. She noticed I am a gun enthusiast and asked why would anyone want or need a firearm. I informed her that it’s a second amendment right and we need them not only for hunting and sport but also for protection. I invited her out for a Saturday shoot at my private range and she was actually excited to try it. I started her out with my Ruger 10-22 shooting spinning targets and she had a blast. By the end of the day she had ran a few mags through the AR and AK , and of course my conceal carry 9mm. She even posed for a few photos of her holding various firearms so she could send them back to her family in New York city. We even have matching T shirts that say “Shooting buddies” that she purchased shortly afterwards.
Keep doing what you’re doing my friend.

Go talk to a local gun range or store with a range and take a safety course and beginner pistol course.
I’ve been “bit” by semi auto pistols. So yeah rifles, shotguns and rifles.
Like someone else said: take an intro course if you can. Highly recommend this!!
You can actually do a majority of gun training at home, without ammo. Mastering firearms safety is crucial before even getting to a range. You can dry fire, use snap caps, draw from concealment, invest in something like the Mantis to see how your shots are landing… all without ammo or recoil. I highly recommend doing dry fire exercises when you first arrive at the range. Your first shot is likely going to be super accurate because you train the recoil anticipation out of your system allowing you to make better shots. It can be a very meditative process. You can learn how to time your shots with your breathing and filter distractions that would throw your shot.
Even when I worked at the gun range these tips always worked for me and helped me save money on ammo and targets.
Starting with the FN 502 Tactical was a smart move, easing them in with something manageable but still realistic. Beverly pushing through her fear is commendable; it shows that sometimes fear is just a lack of understanding.
I bet Crystal got her LTC and Gun right after. Lol

It was nice to see the first girl get past her fear and negativity and give it a try. She seemed to really like shooting the small rifle. I think for a lot of people, holding the pistol out in front of them, for some reason, gives them insecurity, but when they pull that rifle back and "hug" it against their shoulder, it feels more like part of their body and therefore more comfortable. Specially with the smaller caliber carbines.

I developed a magnesium deficiency, and it caused anxiety. I was actually afraid to go to sleep at night. I was afraid I would die in my sleep. It took me a while to figure that out.
It gave me a different perspective on irrational fear.
One thing I noticed, both of the girls kept their finger on the trigger after firing when handing the gun back to Colion.
People like this operate in their emotions so much that they can't even begin to be taught something new...or useful.
Keep in mind this is about 4 minutes of video out of maybe a couple hours of shooting. He wasn't giving them full magazines, and at the beginning just chambering a single shot. I'm sure corrections were gently made as their anxiety lessend.
They were humoring him, and he was trying not to scare them.
I watched it twice, looking for the booger picker on the pew pew switch, did not see it...
I saw the opposite booger picker laid up on the frame
Maybe it was edited out in the last 14 minutes
I think Colion knows that was going to happen that’s why he loaded them both with low ammunition and stood literally right next to them. While it’s not safe practice, it was obviously under control and there was no one panicking.
@@DadWil - The only time I could see it was at 2:50 and I'm not sure it was loaded. I think he had Bev (woman in white) dry fire otherwise I don't think he'd have his hands in the position they were. All other times both women were either moving their fingers to the trigger or had their fingers on the trigger intentionally as they were doing slow squeezes.
Hi from Brazil
ei, cara
Omg... u finally posted this. I been waiting since you posted the interview. Can't wait to finish watching. 😮
I'm just glad they enjoyed it. They've been converted for sure.
Colin, as a female, I must say that you are a lucky man having those 2 beautiful women next to you!
Why do you say that? Their looks mean what in this situation?????
You got brain damage or something?
"a world without guns would be a safer one."
And a world without bad people where everyone has their own unicorn would be awesome too, but those things are impossible. The only thing that ever happens is that guns are taken from decent people that then become prey of criminals and tyranny.
And a world without guns wouldn't be very safe for the thousands of Americans that use them for defense each year. Without firearms, hundreds of women would have been assaulted and possibly ended just last year alone.
That podcast made me cry
This, by far, is what teaching 2nd Amendment rights and gun ownership is about. Not only did you do a previous podcast with them, but you took them to shoot! Doing anything for the first time is scary for some, and I'm happy that you took the time with them to show them it doesn't have to be a bad thing. A follow show would definitely be awesome! Keep up the great work!
1:37 my man turned a double date into content. That’s the most masculine entrepreneurial thing ever. Love this guy

Wow, I’m so glad you got those Ladies out in the range and that you were able to share it with us. My wife of 20 years still won’t shoot with me, but is more comfortable with me owning them now (last 5 years). I’m still going to work on her, but some people will just never be comfortable shooting guns, and that’s okay. As long as they don’t try to take that right away from everyone else.
👍🏽💪🏽👊🏽🔥🔥🔥🔥
Its great to see them face the reality of shooting a gun, being, its just a tool(coming from my IPSC stance) and I respect them for facing their fears.
However, there is a huge elephant in the room that needs to be talked about.
The world is not perfect. There is a lot of bad people or people that are oportuniticaly bad.
When you get confronted by this reality and your fate ask you to face it and react, what are you going to do?
Will you be ready to no be just a victim and defend yourself? If so, how are you planning to survive?
You need a tool to balance the ods, a tool to give you the force to oppose the force that its going to take everything from you in an instant.
That's why every single adult needs a gun.
(disclaimer: the passed the necessary psych test and CCW test)
The irrational terror she felt is actually hilarious
So to be clear you find it hilarious that two people who have extremely limited knowledge of firearms, but willing to learn and face their fears by actually doing it. You would be the reason why people don't want to change their mindsets. Making fun of someone who doesn't know something instead of helping them understand your perspective, it's pathetic gatekeeping bullsh!t.
@@WakkaWakka25 Can't speak for how they meant it, but I couldn't help but think it was funny too. Sorry. It was just so absurd seeing someone get so anxious about something that is pretty much entirely under their control if they choose for it to be. I know it takes courage to put yourself out there like that, so respect to her for that. I couldn't help but laugh, though, knowing how unfounded her crippling level of fear was.
@@brainmind4070that's the point though laughing and making fun of someone who is putting themselves out there is off putting and makes them hate, resent, and refuse to see opposing view points. This is the same attitude the would laugh at an overweight person at a gym, which would make them not want to go. Imagine you're told for your entire life that some little piece of plastic and metal is the most dangerous thing on the earth, and now you have to handle one while on* camera for many to see...then you have ignorant people laughing at you because you had anxiety, but still faced your fear...its reductive to the movement of 2A for everyone...
@@WakkaWakka25 You're getting way too upset about this. Knowing what I know, I can't help but laugh. It's not like I'm choosing to. If I didn't laugh, I would be forcing myself not to, but the impulse to would still be there. You can be dishonest to protect someone's feelings if you want. I'm just sharing my honest reaction. If Colion isn't advising her not to read the comment section of this video, he's doing her a disservice.
@@WakkaWakka25No, it would be the same attitude if you were laughing at an overweight person who was deathly afraid of an exercise bike
There's a difference between a completely understandable level of discomfort/resistance versus a full blown anxiety attack over something trivial
Being terrified of simply being in the presence of a gun is just as absurd and hilarious as an overweight person having a panic attack after walking past a treadmill
I couldn’t wait to see those young ladies shoot, and you did a incredible job of keeping them comfortable and safe. I really appreciate your passion for this industry. Thanks for all you do for us. It would be cool to see a follow up. sit down with those ladies to see what they thought of the range.
07:17 good reflexes there... she was about to break that angle.. pretty normal for first timers. I also noticed how you loaded one round at a time for the first pistol shots.. nice, I do the same.
That looked like she about to flag him right in the face... there went the gun safety.
"that was sexy" & "I am a rifle girl" how then could they in the same breath be against those things now? How could you think something is "sexy" and simultaneously think it should be illegal? Then a step further if she had her choice she likes a rifle over a pistol and declares it her preference but also thinks it shouldnt be allowed? I dont see how the two can coincide. Will there be a part 3 to see if the range time changed their opinions?
Gorgeous ladies
"They're fucking"
* nods in agreement *
Crystal is Bomb!! Super fine
Which one is that? I’m watching it muted. Is she the one with the black shirt?
You don't even know You haven't watched it at this point, you should probably go get a drink you're thirsty.
@@RobertWhite-x4h yes with the braids
@@JSFGuy I watched the first vid when they were debating, is that what you were talking about?
i really have a lot of respect for these 2 young ladies. they were open enough to give the shooting experience a try despite not really supporting such things. bravo ladies.
👍
You didn't even watch it You don't know if it's a 👍🏼
the 22lr was the first round i ever shot at 6 years old
I don’t really think you’re going to help that anti-gun person. They’re not logical.
none are...
No, they're not logical or rational, very few people of are, regardless of their views on guns, which is why patience and understanding is by FAR the most powerful weapon against gun hate. Deal with their emotions on their own level, teach people safety and control at their own pace and they'll be yours for life.
SOOO much respect for these two ladies. Thank you ladies for being willing to try.
“In a perfect world, nobody would have guns”.
In a perfect world, you can give people guns and not have to worry about them being misused.
Notice that their entire view is about banning of objects than the conversion of people to be better.
*Amazing video, thanks for the steady stream. I'm favoured, $450k Returns the Lord is my saviour in times of my need!!!*
Colion you complexion looks very moisturized, you using Diddy oil or Hoppes? 😂
Hopefully Hoppes 😂
That's freaking dope dude! Heck yeah! I've been around guns since I was 6 years old. My Dad and Grandpa taught me how to shoot with a single shot, pull the fire pin back, .22 LR. Still have and shoot that gun to this day. And so everyone I bring out to shoot, that has been new, is that rifle. It is it's own safety mechanism xD
Showing/teaching a person how to safely shoot a firearm is rewarding. But if I might suggest next time advising them not to wear lowcut tops. Hot brass in the cleavage burns and could sour the experience and that is the last thing anyone wants. Great job Colion!!
Its nice to see Beverly who was not just nervous, but actually scared of the gun, continue on, listening to what you had to say, and get to the point of shooting the guns. She has more to overcome. It's wonderful that she did not back down and give into her fear.
Kudos to Beverly for willing to go into an uncomfortable experience and growing as a result.
Too many people have worked themselves into a lather about things they don’t understand.
Notice how they never say that in a perfect world no one would need to use guns, instead they say no one would have guns
That means in their perfect world we would still have violence and every other injustice in the world, but no guns. Think about that
This makes me think of a meme I recently saw...it goes a little something like this: Because we have fire fighters doesn't mean we should ban fire extinguishers, so thus because we have police officers doesn't mean we should ban firearms. I'll leave ya to marinate on that thought.
That’s what it’s all about dud thanks for introducing firearms to these two beautiful women
Kudos to both of these gals and especially Beverly for sticking with it and not giving into fear! And to you Colion, for your unwavering patients and understanding and making it as comfortable as you did!
The "in a perfect world" premise means that you don't have to fear anything that fellow citizens have as they won't attack you nor would negligence cause accidents.
Hats off to you for demonstrating immense patience and understanding.
If one only ever saw movies and the news highlighting chain saws as weapons used for killing and dismantling the bodies, then watching a lumberjack use one for it's intended purpose would be an eye opener.
Great show it is amazing when people realize the truths. How quickly their perspectives change or are questioned.
