Sweet Caroline playing in the background while eating Texas BBQ is the most American thing that your family could be apart of. Glad you enjoyed the United States.
As a 6th generation born and raised Texan, I get emotional watching other people getting emotional while enjoying our great traditions. There's nothing on the planet that compares to a complete Texas barbecue when done correctly, I'm convinced of that.
It is amazing... and this is from someone who has been to Paris, Hong Kong etc and eaten other amazing food. Keep your food culture close and enjoy it!
I love how your daughter was nearly moved to tears when she tasted the food You could literally read her mind going "OMG, WE HAVE TO GO HOME AFTER THIS 😢"
What I love about this family is they didn’t come over here with a chip on their shoulder like so many tourists do. Always super chill with open minds to all the ups and downs of this jungle of a country while having a sense of humor and being gracious and respectful. We should all travel this way ❤
Agree! Love this family. I also love how they sample many different dishes then share with each other. Excellent idea. I have never had Texas barbecue (and I'm from the US) but I surely would love to go there and sample everything. God bless you all. I'm so glad you came and am very glad you're having a good experience.
Bred born and raised in Texas. I've been all over the States; every state has its culture but I've learned that Texas is blessed. I never get tired of watching ppl from other countries visiting and seeing their reaction. Your wife said it straight up, "Are we getting fleeced on our BBQ?" Your daughter was having a food nirvana moment. Yall didnt even try the meats with any BBQ sauces. Ive taken the BBQ houses for granite all my life, along with the tex'mex or mexican restaurants, and southern comfort foods. Both sides of my family had good cooks growing up as a child. America is blessed as well as Texas. Good to see your family enjoying Texas BBQ.
Another Texan here. I love this New Zealand family. You can feel their love for the BBQ and equally their love of one another. A perfect family, you will always be welcome here in Texas. Please come back as soon as possible.

Your daughters reactions especially to the meat were priceless. She was tearing into that stuff like a wild little savage. Completely oblivious to the conversation going on. Bwaaahaha. At one time it looked like she was going to pass out into a food coma hahaha. So glad you got to experience Texas BBQ. Nobody in America does it better. I'm from Missouri, and we have Kansas City BBQ, which is really great, but Texas BBQ has just an extra something more to it, I haven't been there for a number of years now. After watching this, I may plan a road trip. Love you guys. Wishing you all peace.
As a Texan I just love how much yall love us and our culture and food. The most important thing about our bbq is that the entire idea is taking a whole day out of your life and making the best food and memories all at the same time with the ones you love... it isn't 12hrs spent smoking a brisket its 12hrs hanging out with the people you love.
Atlanta's reactions are the best, lol. She ranges from either food ecstasy, to utter confusion with every bite. And Nadine nearly in tears biting into the brisket was great. Good BBQ SHOULD give you an existential crisis.
This family was delightful to watch! Not food critics, just regular people. I imagine the son's wearing shades to hide his tears of joy. I'm smiling. 😂😂😂
What's amazing is that TX BBQ is totally different from other southern states. Kentucky or Tennessee enjoy the sweeter flavors. TX goes big and bold. The amazing thing about the US over any other country is that we have so many different cultures that have made their homes here and the cuisine follows. Seafood in the northeast, cajun (french/african) in Louisiana, BBQ is the south, West coast asian fusions and chinese/japanese/korean. You can find everything here.
I don't want to get political or anything, but isn't it a shame we can accept all the wonderful food cultures from across the country without blinking an eye, but can't accept actual cultures still in 2023? Kind of sucks. But yeah, BBQ is incredible no matter where you get it, literally.
@@you_can_call_me_T I went to this joint literally on the highway outside of Austin back in the 90s - I don't remember the name of it and I don't think they are around anymore sadly, but it was without a doubt the best BBQ I've ever had, and I've been to Terry Black's and a bunch of the best overall places in Texas. I WISH I could go back in time to this place, the food was just mind bogglingly good. And shockingly, one of the best BBQ joints I've been to outside of Texas or a more southern state, was in NY in Brooklyn. A place called Homestead BBQ (I think it's called Homestead, I'll have to google now lol) was just amazing. They have a BBQ pastrami that is amazing.
I hope whoever cooked your meal for you sees this. I can’t even begin to tell you how much it means to people when they spend that much time barbecuing and cooking for hours on end and then to watch somebody try their food and get a reaction like THIS, AMAZINNNGGGGG! Thank you for appreciating good food ❤️❤️❤️
Atlantas silent reaction to everything was the best. It was like she just closed her eyes and was savoring heaven. Then she was like "Ya'll keep talking. I'm just going to keep enjoying the food while you talk." Sam started eating that rib and I didn't think he was going to stop and share any of it with Denzel. BBQ is very different depending where in the states you are. All forms are delicious, just different. I do love the bold tanginess of the Texas BBQ though.
One of my favorite things about America is how every region has it's own foods they do better than anywhere else. If you're ever on the east coast, like right on the water, you need to try the local seafood, best I've ever had. Everything from the the maple syrup in Vermont, to the peaches of Georgia, to the wines and oranges of California, food is culture, and Americans love sharing good food with everyone, it's one of my favorite means of cultural exchange.
Don't forget the She Crab Soup in the Chesapeake area! (I live in Missouri, but spent many Christmases in Virginia. That was one of our traditions to get She Crab Soup and Crab Cakes the day after Christmas!)
I love this! We get some flack around the world for not possessing the culture of ancient cities, however, those who say that likely never visited in person. There’s good reason for not having passports generally in America and just one of those is because we could spend a lifetime seeing the richness and beauty and uniqueness of just a tri-state area, let alone the 50. To the point of my original statement, though, is your take on food/cuisine as a cultural exchange. It’s a perfect sentiment! It’s also perfection in terms of responding to those claims from global citizens accusing us of lacking culture and therefore historical relevance. Bravo to you for your culinary culture insight!❤
I love this family!!! There reaction to everything in AMERICA is awesome!!! I hope we treated them with honest TEXAS hospitality while they were here. ❤❤❤❤

Sam being on the brink of tears over how good it was and Atlanta's savoring in silence were the highlights! I don't even really eat much meat other than turkey (every day for breakfast and only the good stuff: Boar's Head)... and I was drooling over watching this. @@johnroberts1849 I lived in KC for 25 years, and while I'm OK with those showing some hometown (I moved there as an adult) pride, I won't say it's better. I will say it's on par with Texas, but it has a different heritage and philosophy. That makes direct comparisons impossible, and Carolina BBQ's yet another thing. There can't be a "best" when the players all take a different approach to a similar, but not identical outcome. That's the three BBQ centers, but I'll give a shoutout to Memphis for its ribs, and all the little BBQ joints in other towns and following other traditions. It takes a national-level chain to fuck up Q, and in a good sit-down restaurant you might get some good stuff, but a joint will give you as good or better, for a much lower price. Yeah, I dove right into the KC Q culture, then wallowed in it. I want to send some of my homemade rub to Atlanta, but managing packaging, shipping, and who knows what applicable laws, not sure I can swing it on a disability income. All I can say about that is once I got it dialed in, folks started refusing to use sauce on my ribs. This ain't me trolling, this is from an important part of my life. If you don't like it, I suggest you reconsider who the troll in this thread actually is.
So, as a native born Texan... first, thanks for coming over and enjoying our lovely BBQ. Secondly, I have good news for y'all. I have a buddy in Australia who makes his own BBQ, and says that y'all can do this stuff at home. A good smoker can be built, or bought, and there are tons of TH-cam videos to help you with that. Making the Q....well, that just takes time and experience. The more you try it, the better you'll get at it. Imagine how much of a local hero you'll be once you figure out how to do this at home. So here's encouragement. You can do it. Absolutely.
In Australia, there is a bush that is actually mesquite. When used for smoking, it tastes like you've used mesquite. But even in NZ you can get charcoal, which can still be used for making good BBQ.
As a Texan who's spent quite a bit of time in NZ. They would unfortunately need the correct wood and meats for this. Their standard meat is a bit different even down to Sausage which is nothing like American sausage. So if they can find those two things, the proper meat and wood, you're golden. Even if you have to seek it out, I think a good BBQ on the weekend for the family is well worth the effort.

As a 6th generation born and raised Texan, I get emotional watching other people getting emotional while enjoying our great traditions. There's nothing on the planet that compares to a complete Texas barbecue when done correctly, I'm convinced of that.
My family is from new england area, but i was born in Texas. I love many foods, but Texas does it best.
It is amazing... and this is from someone who has been to Paris, Hong Kong etc and eaten other amazing food. Keep your food culture close and enjoy it!

6th generation? You're a newbie considering Texas has been inhabited for thousands of years
@@diegoflores9237... that's a good observation. American Indians deserve a great deal of respect.
I love how your daughter was nearly moved to tears when she tasted the food
You could literally read her mind going "OMG, WE HAVE TO GO HOME AFTER THIS 😢"
I could see her moving here after her equivalent of High school being done just because of the food lol
It seemed like she was savoring the flavor by closing her eyes. It must have been that good.
She is also trying to figure out how it is done do she can do it.
The daughter was so fun to watch...she was absolutely enjoying the food
She's in her own little world over there.
A world composed entirely of flavor.
She's the chef in the family. She was probably trying to figure out the ingredients too.

Thank you my New Zealand Family on behalf of all humanity for your wholesome, satisfying channel content.
Wow, thank you!!
Isn't that the truth! ❤ Thank you for saying what we are all thinking.
That moment when they took a bite and they all paused as they realized their lives had changed just forever 😂😂

Yes! I saw that pause too... And it was heard ALL OVER the world. Great stuff!
Those sun glasses came off and a look appeared that almost says "I think I'm moving to Texas."
The synchronized removal of the sunglasses after the first taste. Welcome to Texas!
What I love about this family is they didn’t come over here with a chip on their shoulder like so many tourists do. Always super chill with open minds to all the ups and downs of this jungle of a country while having a sense of humor and being gracious and respectful. We should all travel this way ❤
Well said.
Agree! Love this family. I also love how they sample many different dishes then share with each other. Excellent idea. I have never had Texas barbecue (and I'm from the US) but I surely would love to go there and sample everything. God bless you all. I'm so glad you came and am very glad you're having a good experience.
It's extremely refreshing. And a "jungle of a country" is a great way to put it.

There's a great deal of wisdom in traveling with an open mind and willingness to experience what the moment offers.
It makes me happy to see people enjoying what we take for granted. Wonderful family.
That’s most spoiled Americans
Spoiled and proud of it
Another Texan here. I love this New Zealand family. You can feel their love for the BBQ and equally their love of one another. A perfect family, you will always be welcome here in Texas. Please come back as soon as possible.

I have to say as a Kentuckian we know what good bbq is, I can appreciate what going on with this great family
Lol, love the daughter. She let everyone talk and went all in, on the beef rib.
That's what a REAL bbq is all about.
Exactly!!!
This is the truth. Best times of my life had a smoking pit backdrop.
@@LordLOC 99% of people are very accepting. The media vastly overhypes the hate for attention and money. TV and the internet can warp reality.

Glad you guys enjoyed it. Bbq in Texas is definitely some of the best
I love watching people get wowed by our BBQ! Glad y'all enjoyed. :D
Y’all definitely get a 10 out of 10! What an awesome experience!
They made it!! Congratulations!!
It’s always a privilege seeing people enjoy their first Texas barbecue.
I can feel their happiness through this video. Texas bbq is truly the cure for everything
Very well put, I'm not feeling well, maybe I should get some Texas BBQ!
Well, everything except heart disaese.
Atlanta not talking but hitting that beef rib while no one was looking.
I could not be more impressed or proud!😂
The sunglasses slam sown. Haha
Sweet Caroline was playing during the short ribs. Perfect timing 😅
👍
Dez's overemoting is fun to watch, but Atlanta's implicit "damn this is good reactions" are priceless.
The sweet fight over the cup of banana pudding. 😂😂😂
What a beautiful family! As a native American (Chicago), it is such a true honor to have all of you enjoying my country! Cheers and tons of love!
Watching Atlanta being transcended through a range of emotions was one of the highlights of the video. Never can get disappointed with Texas BBQ!!
I love this family!!! There reaction to everything in AMERICA is awesome!!! I hope we treated them with honest TEXAS hospitality while they were here. ❤❤❤❤
I love watching people have a turkey cooked the right way i know so many americans that dont like turkey either because theyve only had it dry but a nice juicy turkey will change your life

Sam being on the brink of tears over how good it was and Atlanta's savoring in silence were the highlights! I don't even really eat much meat other than turkey (every day for breakfast and only the good stuff: Boar's Head)... and I was drooling over watching this. Sam's near crying reminded me of the time I went to a New York deli in Colorado (ex NY'er that opened it)... my friend had an egg salad sandwich and he had the same sort of reaction. Then he started to cry and I asked what was wrong and he sobbed, "It's almost gone!" 🤣 I told the deli guy how much the sandwich meant to my friend and he packed us each a sandwich to go free of charge for our journey! Thanks for sharing these moments with us, NZ Family!

Absolutely.
BBQ cooking is a hobby. As is fish frying. I would encourage them to partake in BBQ ing in New Zealand.
The difficulty in making TX bbq is getting the mesquite wood for the smoker…you can get mesquite pellets but chunk wood is going to be more difficult.
Real BBQ is a matter of putting your heart and soul into it. So if you have the heart and soul, you can do it. But it might take years of trying.
This video should used on TERRY BLACK’s webpage/social media 💯🙏
