Great review. I own a Black Bay since 2 years now, wear it every day and still find myself watching it just because of the beauty of this watch. I just love it!
I'm not particularly young and yet I prefer the Black Bay to the Submariner. For the simple reason that I think it looks better. I've owned several Rolex sports watches and none of them made me feel just as drawn to it than I do to my Black Bay, hence every time I've owned a Rolex I ended up selling it. I won't be selling my Tudor.
Spot on about online forums. Most people on them have very uneducated views on watchmaking, especially regarding the merits of Eta based movements. You can sum up the knowledge of many so called 'Experts' with "Eta BAD. In-House GOOD. Derp..." - Knowing only a little can be more detrimental than knowing nothing at all.
There is nothing wrong with ETA movements but they tend to be too expensive. A Seiko will have an in house movement for a third of the price of an average ETA based watch. Again nothing wrong with ETA just a little on the high side.
5k for ETA is still normal many premium brands like Bretiling and IWC also use it. I'm sure Tudor's new in-house is a good movement as they have the expertise from Rolex, however In-house is not always better, there are some in-house movements from other brands that are not reliable and accurate and often they are difficult and expensive to repair. However, with that said I don't agree with manufacturers that used to charge 15k for an ETA movement with basic finishing *cough* Hublot *cough*
Well made review! Had both (blue and red) on today. Funny, seeing it in screen, I leaned towards the red one. But after seeing it in person I'd rather go for the blue one!
Love the reviews, very insightful....I've been looking at some watches and online shops like Jomashop have great prices. Do you know if the watches are authentic? Thanks
Thanks for uploading this video . Good review . How about Longines Hydroconquest or Tag Acqua or Oris dive or Certina DS which one is better although the price rates are almost same . Quartz or Automatic . Please advice
Have an 114060 sub and seriously considering this or a palagos but my Rolex is a no date so I kind of want my Tudor to have a date just to switch things up
Great review, love this watch so much, so classy and i agree with your thoughts on it, i keep looking at this watch in my local dealers window, i don't think i will be looking much longer through the window, more stealing looks at it on my wrist!. Thanks...
I ended up getting the Red because I had a speedmaster already, which is black. Also when trying on the black, it just felt a bit blah. I did like the red triangle on it, but it looks better in photo's than it does in real life. I've already got tons of compliments from people probably because the Red is eye catching. The red is strange though, on the bracelet it looks burgundy or the black nato it comes with it looks red. I guess it depends how loud you want to be with your watch. :) its not crazy loud but I've noticed peoples eyes following my left wrist when I talk because I use my hands when I speak.
nice watch was goina get one until i found out it housed a eta 2824 good movement but i dont think its worth 2k (UK) a lot of other good autos out there for less than half the price
Ive just purchased a LACO DORTMUND handwinding......so it will be a few months before any purchase but i probably will buy it........its a lovely watch cheers
Good review. Nice watch, but it ain't worth US$3500. For that kind of money, it should have gold framed indices not gilt. The ETA 28/24 is reliable, but it can be found in 'entry level' (sorry Thomas) divers like Christopher Ward P60 or the Steinhart Ocean 1 Ceramic which are priced a lot less than the Back Bay. The Tudor Pelagos might be a better choice for some, but if it has the ETA movement as well, then it too is not value for your dollar.
I'd rather get a used rich mans watch than a new poor mans watch. It's a nice watch, but everyone that pays 3k for this is just crazy. It'd be good priced from $15-1,800. Rolex is even more overpriced, but you buy the name. With this on your wrist, the average person will think oh it's another $150 watch.
Color scheme on this watch is gorgeous, case bezel and face proportion is perfection incarnate, finish looks impeccable, the case itself makes me want to hold the watch...and then they go and ruin it with that fat, stubby, ugly, truncated hour hand.
+snackajack117 It could also be a chronometer grade 2824 or better yet, a 2892. It's a lame excuse to say that the alternative is an "unproven" in-house. With Rolex expertise, do you really need that much "proof" to believe one of their movements will perform better? This movement makes this watch absolutely overpriced.
+snackajack117 I used to have several orient watches which also performed at COSC specs, so according to your logic, what's the point? Those basic movements are every bit the equal of any COSC capable watch, right? There is a huge difference between being able to run at COSC and being guaranteed to run at those specs and maintaining them, as per with a chronometer. Yes, some Tudor watches run at COSC, but not at all of them. Not at all! There are plenty of them which run at +8, +10 and more. Regarding the "unproven," calibres, have you seen the specs in the new Tudor Inhouse calibre? Your fears and requirements before buying a watch do not, in any way shape or manner, make a 2824 a good option for a watch in this price range, neither does it make it a superior movement to the (yet to be proved) new inhouse calibre which, among other attributes, has almost the double amount of power reserve and guaranteed better accuracy! For this price, at the very least they should have thrown in a 2892
Great review. I own a Black Bay since 2 years now, wear it every day and still find myself watching it just because of the beauty of this watch. I just love it!
Really enjoy your reviews and thoughts. So well spoken.
Kevin Lam Appreciate the kind words, Kevin! Be well.
Was tossing and turning over the idea of buying this watch. Your review was so good that I went and bought one the next day. Love it! Cheers
Your reviews are one of the best on the internet. I wished you would be the main reviewer of all the Ablogtowatch reviews.
Yor reviews are always a pleasure too watch and listen too. Your reviews are really smooth ,.....keep up the good work and wear that tudor well.
Home run. Best narration I've probably ever heard. You have the gift sir!
I think I like this red better then the plainish blue version too!
Best watch review channel on youtube. Kinda unfortunate there hasn’t been a new post in a while.
Just got mine today! Can't stop looking at it 😎😁😁
Best looking diver !! This is the young mans rolex.
+Chris Marshall Which one do you prefer between this and the blue seamaster ceramic?
I like them both its to hard to chose lol!!
I beg to differ. Not just a young man's watch.

I've watched this video a couple of times and I really like the looks of this watch.I feel its more beautiful than any other dress diver out there.

bighands69 they tend to be a bit more accurate than seikos but yes, seiko movements are great value
Well made review! Had both (blue and red) on today.

I'd personally choose the blue. I do like the red but it's a little gimmicky. Nice watch.
A well done and thoughtful review. Among the better watch reviews. Oh, the watch is nice too.
Excellent review, I'm still not sure where it would fit into my small collection, I may go for the Datejust instead?
Great video ,fell in love first time a saw the watch.
Love your reviews! Keep them coming
Thanks, David!
GMT Hey when you get a chance, you should really join this watch group on Facebook called modern day watch enthusiasts

Send a add request and they will accept you.
one the few luxury priced watches that exudes good taste.
What do u feel about the new BBB? Would be nice if it could be reviewed
Love the reviews, very insightful....I've been looking at some watches and online shops like Jomashop have great prices. Do you know if the watches are authentic? Thanks
Great review. Very insightful and well written!
Brilliant review, I agree with everything you said. I still love my BB and think it's worth every cent of its asking price, comparatively speaking.
1000lightyrs Thanks for watching!

Great review as allways! You should have more views mate.
Thanks for watching!
Great review, love this watch so much, so classy and i agree with your thoughts on it, i keep looking at this watch in my local dealers window, i don't think i will be looking much longer through the window, more stealing looks at it on my wrist!. Thanks...
Very good review! Love the channel.. I'll stick to the older Tudor submariners to level out my mostly Rolex collection I fear
Great review.. love this watch!
Are the hands and markers plated gold?
Excellent review. Best ever. I will buy that watch...it looks fabulous.
I'm sorry but can you tell me what that type of strap is called at 3:02? I know you said it but I can't find it with my shoddy spelling.
+Brickcellent Nato strap.
+SplashDeni No he says textile strap or something
+Brickcellent "both come with a textile strap similar to a nato" :)
No info about the measurements of the watch?
Top review. Loving this watch I bought
Is the insert ceramic?
Can't decide between this or the black...
yeah same here. Tell me when you have made a decision :E
same ;-;

Jahanzeb khan thanks a lot, I think I will also go for the red one.
I'll get the red too! :)
Now that's a great review and i totally agree with you!
I prefer Tudor over Rolex as I think Tudor have a more cleaner lines concerning styles of the watches.
Excellent, excellent review. Well done

I really want this watch
great review
Beautiful watch!☺

Nightwatchman247365 The Pelagos is getting an in-house movement this summer. Hopefully the Black Bay will have one soon.
+Nightwatchman247365 Yes it is worth that kind of money. It looks fabulous and I would pay that in a heartbeat.
Well said!
Good reviewer .keep up
tudor should pay you for this video. I don't think it is possible to sell this watch more effectively.
Faint praise indeed.
too expensive. not a rolex. But beautiful.
BUT no way I would spent that amount of money on it. I preffer go for the submariner.
Ceramic!

The watch is $3,400 I don't believe a "poor" man could spend that on a watch. I don't even think the average man can spend that on a watch.
Color scheme on this watch is gorgeous, case bezel and face proportion is perfection incarnate, finish looks impeccable, the case itself makes me want to hold the watch...and then they go and ruin it with that fat, stubby, ugly, truncated hour hand.
2824 is a big turn off.
It's a big plus and can be serviced anywhere for cheap. Can't see the movement anyways....

+tom magnum no its not. It's fine.
*****
Get the 2824 in a Tissot. Much more realistic price for what you get.
Came in to a review, heard a shitty rant about current status of watch price critics. wtf?
Winners have Rolex. Poor people wear Tudor.
Not everyone can afford a Rolex.....and a watch by no means makes you a winner!!
Ronald Nixon I have seen people with Tudors with a much higher net worth than what your dumb ass is worth...
