    Great watch and keeps good time. Interestingly gets noticed a bit. Love the old school feel with up to date build quality. Fit and finish is superb.

    I just got this same exact model and color. I must say it looks way much better in real live then on a TH-cam video or pictures. It is just really beautiful watch.

    would you wear this watch given your wrist size? I'm the same size as you and just ordered one w/ red bezel and am a bit worried on size. So good looking...Tons of value, Hoping it looks ok on my wrist. Cheers.

    Great review. The missing date "complication" holds me back to buy one. Another Tudor option might be Pelagos, but IMO this is better design.

    I love Tudor, and I think they are just getting better and better. Ok, so some people may not like this particular watch. And yes the difference in black bay models is pretty significant, especially when it comes to dimensions. And there was nothing wrong with the ETA movement. Completely bomb proof. But you cannot ignore the fact that this is a completely in house calibre, which is what every watch manufacturer worth their salt should strive for. And for the most part. Tudor seem to be restraining the prices for their watches. And at this price point, it is a very worthy alternative to the submariner. I would like to see a couple more developments in the In house range though. Such as a GMT and Chronograph movement etc.

    I sold my Black Bay Blue b/c of the ETA movement. I may have to consider one of the new ones.

    • @alecc4006
      @alecc4006 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      phototristan the ETA is perfect movement for the Tudor..so this is in-house meaning more expensive to service marginal gain on accuracy. in house for me only comes in to concern when we get in to haute horology you know holy trinity a Lange etc etc..

    • @phototristan
      @phototristan 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alan c ETA has ceased distributing parts to watch repair shops so no longer are they easy to have repaired.

    • @alecc4006
      @alecc4006 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      phototristan realistically it's never going to be a problem getting a service for an ETA 2824 movement and it will be cheaper than going to Rolex/Tudor for sure.

    • @phototristan
      @phototristan 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alan c Talk to an actual watchmaker/watch repair place before talking out of your ass. Yes it will be a problem because they can't get parts. Ask anyone.

    • @alecc4006
      @alecc4006 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      phototristan I have spoken to my watch repairer and he has never mentioned difficulty in getting eta parts. and I have never seen complaints of eta service going up as a result. restrictions apply to non swatch group companies using ETA movements in the future. supply of ETA parts out there are plentiful for those few that bother to get their ETA movements serviced. if ever there is a shortfall. you are living in a fantasy if you think a eta service will one day quadruple in price to a rolextudor service or even worse there is a finite supply of eta for your omega Tudor etc etc..not going to happen my friend

  • @vdbdg
    @vdbdg 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Why does the case have to be so big for a movement with no complication? It sounds stupid but a cheap day-date Seiko SKX has a more ergonomic case for example.

    • @misterfreeze6545

  • @ThePhiltastic

    The 2824 ETA put me off Tudor, and I bought the Black Bay Bronze two weeks ago. God it's a beautiful, big watch. I didn't like the "snowflake," but they are historic, and comparing the dial to my SeaDweller they are quite similar except the Tudor uses numerals at three, six, and nine but only on the Bronze Black Bay. As for the fat case, it works. I have an Omega SeaMaster and it is busy in side profile with the mid-case, bottom and a series of rings at the top with the bezel. The Black Bay just has that fat case and the bezel/crystal same 14mm dimension as the Omega.

Between 3 to 6 thousand dollar watches. If you are looking for only 1 watch..... Buy omega... You will be so in love.... The tudor will be a 2 week fling.... Omega.. Long lasting loving relationship...

    That thicker case and fake rivet bracelet is a deal breaker for me. I'd Rather spend a bit more and get a nice used 14060. The 14060 will do better on resale also. I'd even take a nice used 79090 over the balck bay.

    It's not just a tad thicker. The older, ETA model is 12.7mm. The new one is 14.8mm and that is a significant difference. Unless you have larger-than-average wrists (which I do not), the new one is far too clunky. I'll keep my ETA model.

      Damn! That's just way to thick! Such a shame. The new movement plus anything under 13mm thickness would have been a no-brainer for me. I have reservations about the ETA model.

    • @garcialaw9160
      @garcialaw9160 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      not true. it's just .05mm thicker than the old one. so it's 13.2mm, not a ridiculous 14.8mm

    • @trevbarlow9719
      @trevbarlow9719 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Where are you getting this info from? I'm not saying you're a liar, in fact, I tried both on the other day, and the new one did seem only slightly thicker.

    • @ogotuwaobuto5366
      @ogotuwaobuto5366 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      To me the appeal of the new one is exactly the new in-house movement. Without it the watch is just another ETA watch which has just been tweaked by Tudor.
      What is the difference between the ETA model and Oris, Tag etc or even a Steinhart!

    Sorry to be a Negative Nelly, but I must deduct points for not knowing how thick the watch is. Saying "I believe it's a tad thicker than the non-in-house" is just not professional enough for aBlongtoWatch. Especially when the thickness of this one is one of the common concerns about the watch.

    Thanks for the review. Love the look of this watch so for all you poor people like me who wish they could have it get the Chinese Corgeut version sold on ebay for $150 shipped and don't let any cork sniffers tell you it is immoral or a piece of junk. I did research on the Miyota 8215 in it and was sold when a long time member on big watchuseek forum said the 8215 is a tested work horse movt. got the watch in 2 weeks from china, WITH the ROSE crown, and put a NATO strap on it. there are people who can afford the expensive, not necessarily better stuff, and people who can't. and by the way sorry but the chinese make both crap, and really good quality stuff.....they have over 5000 years experience compared to us westerners.

      @alecc4006 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trevor Bohnsack I complete agree with you..at this price point a top grade ETA, strong build quality everywhere se and identity is perfect..OK so it's developed by Rolex but the ETA is a proven long term reliable accurate movement. theres nothing particularly interesting about in house Tudor, which is still inferior to in house Rolex

    • @flow2tech
      @flow2tech 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Alan c Exactly! I realize there's nothing special about an ETA 2824 but all of mine are flawless and once regulated are pretty much within cosc... Even my few guilty pleasure microbrands.. Its not like I'm oohhhing and ahhhhing at a see through case backs on divers..

      @ogotuwaobuto560 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alan c
      Balls to all of you. The inhouse is far more desirable.
      Do I detect a bit of inferiority on your behalf now that your Eta's have been superseded that you need to justify how good your Eta's are?

    • @flow2tech
      @flow2tech 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ogotuwa Obuto Nope no inferiority what so ever..don't think anyone here thinks the ETA is better ...But there is no denying it as an easily serviceable work horse movement that gets the job done..Personally if I don't have a display case back to even view the movement who cares..If I'm running plus 3 to 5 sec a day on a top tier ETA then what's to complain about? Not much.

    Nice watch, but not really an in-house movement. Kenissi, a joint venture between Tudor and Chanel, makes movements for Tudor and several other brands. Tudor itself doesn’t actually manufacture any other parts of the watch, either. Rather, they assemble their watches using parts from third party suppliers in Switzerland.

      That's because you are comparing them to Rolex. Start thinking Tudor as a standalone company and respect the timepieces they produce for the magnificent works of art that they are. Tudor is Rolex's way of introducing more compelling and experimental designs that Rolex's reputation will not let it exploit.
      Both Rolex and Tudor are fantastic watches, I have a sub 116610 and the new Tudor bbb. Just my opinion :)

      I have two Rolexs and got the bronze Black Bay, can't take it off. I was rotating the bronze with my other watches and about a month ago said screw it I just gotta wear the Tudor. There are subtle aspects incorporated into Tudor watches not in Rolex making Tudor distinct and truly gorgeous. Like he says here, get a lot of watch for the price, a lot.

    • @MJagger89

      Actually, Tudor's new movement is technically superior to Rolex movements in the submariner.

      William Candrick Wrong.

    • @MJagger89
      @MJagger89 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      243wayne1 I'm basing my claim on a great article that breaks down the Tudor movement and compares it to Rolex's 3135. The Tudor has a longer power reserve, uses a silicon hairspring (found in some of Rolex's ladies watches, but not their 3135), and uses a ball bearing for the rotor (found in Rolex's brand new 3255). So yes, Tudor's new movement (in all iterations) surpasses some of the technical features found in Rolex's 3135 workhorse.

      William Candrick Please don't misunderstand me. I'm not saying Tudor isn't a fine timepiece. But a silicone covered hairspring does not a blue parachrom hairspring make. It is a dime store watch compared to a Rolex.
