We used to game all the time and go training together. We could just randomly decide to go out for a movie or a snack just to talk about whatever. As soon as he got a GF suddenly everything changed just like that, day and night. He would compromise gaming time for netflix sessions with her (he don't even like netflix ffs), he would stop training at the same time as always just to fit her schedule, etc. Now he's married to her and I guess I don't even need to explain further.
I mean, it's okay if your buddies get into relationships, I don't mind that and I get happy for them. And ofc, when that happens, I can understand that the relationship itself becomes a priority. But c'mon man, can't you grow some balls and set some boundaries? To at least TRY to spend some time with your friends? How can you let a single girl just decide what you will or not do.

I've known my best friend since the 2nd grade. Neither of us had a girlfriend. He tried during high school, got rejected, and wasn't phased by it. He had a feeling it would've happened and accepted it. We joked about how many things could've gone wrong about the situation and how 1 of us could've popped out in the background for comedic effect laughing out "I told you". Even made our own little secret handshake that we only ever remembered once and that was the end of it.

I've only ever seen him once since and it's been 4 years now. He didn't move to a different state, but he lives farther than he did before. I just can't remember where. My job hours make it hard to see anybody during the day, but we still message each other rarely on Xbox. For that, I believe he's well.
