Shirou having Saber's sheat inside him is so clearly a remnant of when the story had the genders reversed, Shirou was a girl and Saber was regular male Arthur.
I hear Fate has several unused routes like the standalone Sakura and llya routes (Heaven's Feel was a combo of both), Caster route, Mashu/Sheilder route and Shinji route. These would have been called Fate Other Night
I'll always go back to this video to remember the fate route, without going through 20+ hours of actually rereading the VN. Still waiting on UBW and HF route.
It's so funny listening to this recap and realizing how unobservant my younger self was. The Stay Night route's basically the first route yet they practically scream in your face Archer's true identity 😂
It's a great twist that way. The clues are all there, but because you don't have any idea that you should be looking for it, you don't see it until it's pointed out.
I think it's worth mentioning that after Rider is defeated and Shirou let's Shinji go (or rather Shirou ignores Shinji because Saber is far more important to him and Shinji runs away crying), Shinji is killed by Iliya and Berserker.

The sex scenes were included since at the time, Type-Moon thought the game would sell better with them. There's a reason why in all future adaptations (as well as the PSP port), they were all replaced.

I see the differences from the game and the Anime 2006 adaptation but I believe most of it was adapted well in the anime. I've noticed the anime took a few plot points from the other routes. I'm guessing studio Deen thought it was gonna be the only Fate/ anime, so they just decided to make an amalgamation of all three routes but mostly being the Fates route.
only error i noticed is when Saber first uses her NP. She doesn't have Caliburn at this point in her life since it was broken and replaced with Excalibur, and she only has access to it after Shirou starts using Projection towards the end of the story. Otherwise, awesome recap
Great recap mate! I do have to point some things out though. For people who still want to read the VN I recommend Fate/Stay Night [Realta Nua] - Ultimate Edition. Just make sure to turn off the sex scenes in Fate & UBW but have them on in Heaven's Feel! 6:47 She only rescues him because he is important too a certain person she cares about which I won't name because big spoiler. 8:38 He has a crush on Tohsaka Rin at this point in the story.* 13:28 Already weakened from Lancer's Gáe Bolg being thrust into her shoulder.* (Which imo should be removed from canon, he should not use his Noble Phantasm, instead just run after they fight a bit.) 13:35 Hercules is his Roman name, his Greek name is Heracles.* Extra note: That MF BAD ARSE Archer solo kills Heracles 6 fucking times! That is damn good set up for UBW and one off my favourite moments in VN history!
Your videos are thorough and well-thought. I’d just suggest slowing your voice-over down a little bit and be mindful of how loud you play the music. It’s difficult at times to catch everything.
Uh-oh spoilers, it is never said in the Fate route who Rider is. You only know that in Heaven's Feel. And that at 28:36 is wrong. Shirou projected a different weapon that Saber used to completely block Ea's blast. Still good stuff.
What would the 2006 Anime adaptation be like if Studio Deen had known there was gonna be a 24-25 episode anime adaptation for Unlimited Blade Work and a movie trilogy adaptation of Heaven's Feel before they decided to anime the Fate(ish) route?
It would make the series way more accessible. I hope Ufotable just does the Fate route when they're done with HF, so people can finally experience it all in anime format.
As far as I am aware, Caliburn is the name used for the Sword in the Stone/Sword of Choosing in Fate. Excalibur was a gift from the lady of the lake. However I have also heard Caliburn as an interchangeable name for Excalibur, so who knows what is really right at this point.
