There is a catch! THE FIRST ANIMATION FROM 2006 is the FIRST ROUTE! Of the Fate/Stay Night saga, the others movies are the second and third ROUTE! And there is ZERO the prequel. So, if you avoid watch the series from 2006, you will lose the first ROUTE! WARNING! I am not saying to you to not watch the anime serie from 2006 before the others, BUT, eventualy, even after Fate/Zero, you gonna need to watch to know about the FIRST ROUTE. So watch it at some point! THIS IS FOR ANIMES WATCHERS ONLY! Manga and Light Novels readers, start by the mangas/light novel in order of release and be happy! I watched the video three times and he say to not start with the first anime and then to avoid it at all cost... so... YEAH, Don't do that! Ok not starting with it, but do not avoid it.
I watched Zero, then Stay Night. It's hard to go from the dynamic and flashy Zero to the regular anime pace of Stay Night. I mean they had those typical chill let's-show-the-audience-a-Japanese-meal type of scene. It's weird to watch that after Zero.
They're fundamentally different works and zero(despite being a prequel which written later than the original FSN) was adapted by ufotable earlier, and done better. To be succinct, the ufotable FSN adaptations just feel toothless and way too safe; the VN on the other hand is really good, it's a chunni, somber, urban fantasy work that can wander into horror territory at some points, and I don't know why the anime had to turn it into this action packed shonen show which skewed public perception of fate for all time in the western side of things.
Ubw all day imo. Simply on the fact that it has basically 29 episodes in run time and still does not try to be and do everything nor please everyone. I preferred the focus on well Emiya and Rin as opposed to trying to diverge as much screen time to any and all characters.
I'm an anime-only guy and I knew I'd want to start with the visual novels before even bothering with the anime. And you said to skip the 2006 series (which isn't even on Crunchyroll anyway) and just watch UBW. OK, I think I will.
13:00 i gotta disagree on this one, no, you are right, they are unnecacery to watch, but almost all of nasuverse is like this, you don't need to watch fate stay night to understand fgo or Apocrypha, or tsukihime, or kara no kyoukai or ... , you watch them , because they are cool(most of them anyway), so that's it, if you enjoyed fate stay night, you definitely can tries other part of nasuverse, and it doesn't need to limit ourselves

Do yourself a favor read the VN it's the only way, the real heart of fate is there. You can't go wrong with it and no personally I don't have the patience for a VN but this one, I can't be more glad I did so. I say so because the fate route has never been properly adapted and it's essentially the intended way for the journey. And fate's greatest strength is in it's themes i.e of conquering oneself. There are three story lines in Fate, each has different themes. The first one is the "oneself as an ideal." The second one is "struggling with oneself as an ideal." The third one is "the friction with real and ideal." The first route is somewhat akin to a fairy tale enjoyable and introduces the world it's great but just as I mention earlier as the routes change the themes change the realism compounds, things become more sinster and by heaven's feel all of it turns on itself(my fav). So don't half ass it if you want into it go all the way.
Heavens Feel subverts and deconstructs UBW, which subverts and deconstructs Fate Route. Without the Fate Route to create expectations, UBW loses a lot of its charm, because it's subverting plot points from Fate Route that you never saw, and deconstructing ideas that you were never given. Everyone going in to UBW without experiencing Fate Route in some form or another are really losing out on what Nasu intended.
As much as I like Last Encore, it really is impossible to recommend to people who didn't play EXTRA or didn't at least read a summary of its plot, since Last Encore is a sequel to a bad ending in whicch Protagonist died in the final battle.
i dont understand the deen/stay night argument of it spoiling things. I watched Deen/stay night after UBW and enjoyed it, i saw what the spoilers were for UBW but they werent super obvious, it kinda hinted at the UBW route/events. For someone who has never watched fate, deen's fate route might be good cuz it sets up the ufotable routes plus the watcher will be very excited to see the UBW from that 2000s animation to the UFOtable animation
I watched Fate UBW, I liked it but felt unsatisfied not knowing what happened with Sakura but I dont feel like watch 3 movies...probably will watch in a couple years
I started with Fate Zero not knowing anything about this stuff and forgot about that show. Now that I stumbled across this video I can re watch it all properly so thank you!!
Fate route enjoyer here, I personally don't understand the hate. It was the first one I watched when getting into Fate and I have never regretted it. It doesn't make sense to me to completely outcast it like its trash tbh.
Me too, even rewatch it like 4 times already. The animation might look horrible but I think we should appreciate the quality of the OST that makes the series alive
I rather watch Oath Under Snow over Heaven's Feel because I hate Sakura's route. I find Sakura's love story with Emiya bad. In Oath Under Snow they tire to do better job at making Sakura more likeable and more useful. Question does Shirou keep living as puppet after Sakura died in her route because that is not a happy ending.
WRONG. Read the novel or watch the deen adaptation. The UBW anime assumes you know the fate route, just like the novel route expects you to play them in order. Anyone advocating skipping the fate route doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

I watched the deen fate first and then watched zero being confused as hell, then when I watch ubw and heaven's feel i wasn't really hooked in the story....maybe because the deen series kinda spoiled. Hopefully no one makes this mistake 😐
It's jsut really depends on the individual. I started with the DEEN anime, because THERE WASN'T ANY OTHER anime of fate besides the Deen's version. But I'm proactive, and started reading the Visual Novels. Like people shit on the Deen anime too much, when the DEEN anime made the earlier boom to begin with. So, it's not a mistake to start with DEEN's anime, is how you follow it up what matters.
Watching Order :- 1) Fate Stay Night 2) Fate: Zero 3) Fate Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Work (Ignore the Movie, that's a spoiler. There are two season in Unlimited blade work,Watch both of them) 4) Fate Stay Night: Heaven's Feel Movie 1,2,3
I kinda like the original Fate adaptation a little bit. I was the first one I watched, didn't really ruin anything for me. I got really into fate after watching in plus the opening is a banger. It is terrible compared to what we have now I'll give you that, but if you like the Deen adaptation it really makes you appreciate what you see after it, because it's so much better
so to recap what ive learned...this should be the watch order 0) fate/ stay night (i realize this was another route just now) 1) fate/ stay night ubw s1, s2, ova, specials 2) fate/ stay night heaven's feel 1, 2, 3 3) fate/ zero right???
Pretty much yeah, just take out the Fate/Stay Night part. I talked about it in the video first since it comes first in the visual novel, but the anime spoils every other route. You can watch it whenever you want after UBW, Heaven's Feel, Zero
First time I've heard Zero recommended last. I disagree though. HF has a ton of easter eggs that won't hit nearly as hard if you haven't seen Zero first. I see the argument for UBW before Zero, but Zero as a standalone is a masterpiece and it would feel awful if I got one of my friends to watch UBW before it and they dropped it halfway through cause they didn't vibe with Shirou.
The idea that starting with Zero is preferable only gained traction because the HF movies hadn't been released yet, so anime watchers couldn't know what they were missing. HF2 in particular has some shocking revelations about Sakura and Illya that are, indeed, spoiled by Zero ep. 1 (a prequel in the source material). If you start with Zero, not only you'll not feel the shock, but you'll not even notice that this is new information that was supposed to shock you. Once the theory that it's better to start with Zero took hold, it perpetuated itself even after the release of HF2, precisely because the people who followed that watch order never realized they were missing so much from the HF experience. Many retort that the other watch order spoils the ending of Zero, which is true... but that isn't a big deal, since Zero's ending was never meant to be a surprise in the first place. Moreover, UBW and HF don't get into much detail about what happened in previous Holy Grail war, so they may give you a broad (and even wrong) idea of what happens in Zero, with the details still a surprise. Starting with Zero is like watching the Star Wars prequels first and never realizing that Vader saying "No, I am your father" was a shocking revelation. Is avoiding the spoiler of Anakin's arch during the prequels worth that loss?

- Fate/Zero (Anime Series 25 eps 2011/2012)
Ok, so... according to the video, the both from Studio Deen should be avoided, but!
I agree!
the best way to experience fate stay/night is original visual novel, anime adaptation messed up chronological timeline and other things
Wanna know what's crazy? UFOtable made a Fate movie teiligoy, and now the same is happening with KNY. It all comes full circle.
In all honesty it doesn’t really matter just watch whatever seems interesting to you.
tbh yeah
As much as I like Last Encore, it really is impossible to recommend to people who didn't play EXTRA or didn't at least read a summary of its plot, since Last Encore is a sequel to a bad ending in whicch Protagonist died in the final battle.
Just watched the title of this video and I'm commenting this without watching but I'll only watch this if Gigguk has approved this video.
Gigguk's video came out of left field and completely ruined a lot of my future Fate video plans lol
Put Sotsu first ark video pls. Your Higurashi Contents are the best!
Although got to admit, Deen Stay Night has best OST
Very true
i dont understand the deen/stay night argument of it spoiling things.
I watched Fate UBW, I liked it but felt unsatisfied not knowing what happened with Sakura but I dont feel like watch 3 movies...probably will watch in a couple years
The movies are all really good, and under around an hour and 30 mins long. Waiting a few years tho whaaaa
Watch it now! You won't regret it
Whatever route of Fate, Saber is the best waifu ever ❤
"you dropped your crown king 👑"
I started with Fate/Zero and still enjoyed the others
I started with Fate Zero not knowing anything about this stuff and forgot about that show. Now that I stumbled across this video I can re watch it all properly so thank you!!
Am I the only person who likes the deen adaptation and started with it
Fate route enjoyer here, I personally don't understand the hate. It was the first one I watched when getting into Fate and I have never regretted it. It doesn't make sense to me to completely outcast it like its trash tbh.
Me too, even rewatch it like 4 times already. The animation might look horrible but I think we should appreciate the quality of the OST that makes the series alive
Im happy im 1 of the 5 who enjoyed zero as a starter
I rather watch Oath Under Snow over Heaven's Feel because I hate Sakura's route. I find Sakura's love story with Emiya bad. In Oath Under Snow they tire to do better job at making Sakura more likeable and more useful. Question does Shirou keep living as puppet after Sakura died in her route because that is not a happy ending.
WRONG. Read the novel or watch the deen adaptation. The UBW anime assumes you know the fate route, just like the novel route expects you to play them in order. Anyone advocating skipping the fate route doesn’t know what they’re talking about.
I haven't watched anything fate related and now i have decided to start off with unlimited blade works season 1 but their is a prologue episode called episode 0 . Should I watch it and then watch season 1 episodes or skip it ?? Please answer
Yeah you can. It helps give some background for the first season, I would recommend it
Have you watched the KnK series too? Ufotable animated it as well and it’s so freaking pretty
I've been meaning to. Is it good?
@@MrHunteru I personally think so, though just as the Fate series, there are some really messed up scenes and themes brought up. The quality of the work considering the budget is incredible. I think they have it on Crunchyroll in case you find yourself with free time :)
is sunny day the epilogue
Fate extra is in a completely different time line with different laws
Also there was a fate grand order movie adaptation of its prologue story
So basically unlimited blade works . Is the starting point
Yeah
I really hope Ufotable gets to animate the Fate route
Watching Order :-
1) Fate Stay Night
2) Fate: Zero
3) Fate Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Work (Ignore the Movie, that's a spoiler. There are two season in Unlimited blade work,Watch both of them)
4) Fate Stay Night: Heaven's Feel Movie 1,2,3
I kinda like the original Fate adaptation a little bit. I was the first one I watched, didn't really ruin anything for me. I got really into fate after watching in plus the opening is a banger. It is terrible compared to what we have now I'll give you that, but if you like the Deen adaptation it really makes you appreciate what you see after it, because it's so much better
so to recap what ive learned...this should be the watch order
0) fate/ stay night (i realize this was another route just now)
1) fate/ stay night ubw s1, s2, ova, specials
2) fate/ stay night heaven's feel 1, 2, 3
3) fate/ zero
right???
Pretty much yeah, just take out the Fate/Stay Night part. I talked about it in the video first since it comes first in the visual novel, but the anime spoils every other route. You can watch it whenever you want after UBW, Heaven's Feel, Zero
@@MrHunteru ouhh. thanks man
45 min episodes, the more the merrier if it's worth, lettssss goooooooo
First time I've heard Zero recommended last. I disagree though. HF has a ton of easter eggs that won't hit nearly as hard if you haven't seen Zero first.
I see the argument for UBW before Zero, but Zero as a standalone is a masterpiece and it would feel awful if I got one of my friends to watch UBW before it and they dropped it halfway through cause they didn't vibe with Shirou.
I HAVENT SEEN THE MOVIES YET BUT SO FAR I LIKED THE SABER ROUTE WELL I LIKE THE RIN ROUTE BETTER BUT FOR HIS LOVE INTEREST I WANT IT TO BE SABER
Is avoiding the spoiler of Anakin's arch during the prequels worth that loss?
its the most idiotic thing youll just spoil everything
@@blackchase6732 can you guys tell me how I should watch the series for the least amount of spoilers? Every video I watch keeps saying watch Zero first but then every comment says it spoils everything. I’m so damn confused
@@T3noir fsn ubw hf
@@blackchase6732 for fsn should I wstch zero first or fate stay night first ? And after should I skip the movie for ubw? A lot of people say it doesn’t matter
@@T3noir fsn ubw hf dont watch zero ubw id say you can watch the movie too cause ufotable sucks at following the script
zero will contradict and spoil everything dont watch it
In my opinion the perfect way to watch Fate/Stay Night is laying on a couch with two full packets of doritos and a bottle of coke. And keep away anything fragile out of your arm's reach cause Shirou's extreme idealism may get on your nerves.
Be less white training played off I see
Only if you're a Pleb. His sword autism is the reason stay night is good.
As the fate fandom says: Don't worry about it
Currently watching fate for the first time. Started with Zero... I'm on episode 19 or so and I'm absolutely loving it.
And there's nothing wrong with that, Zero is an awesome show. My goal is simply to tell people what to watch so it doesn't seem intimidating, since a lot of Fate fans will scare new viewers away with watch orders
and spoilled everything
@@blackchase6732what do u mean.
Does zero spoils ubw?
@@se7en845 zero spoils every single route
fsn ubw hf
and completlly contradicts them both events and characters personalities and events of the 4th war
Strange that you mentioned Fate Apocrypha but did not mention fate grand order babylonia
I tried to stay away from the Grand Order stuff cause I myself haven't dove into it at all
Why don't people just read the original VN? Is it not translated yet or something?
God bless you to recomend the newcomer to UBW first. Respect
I started with zero first and then kept watching from there
But what about the fate route? The original anime… when do I watch that one?
Whenever after the other two
Start on Carnival Phantasm
So you choose chaos
Just what I needed
I gotchu
Okay, i got that but when do i watch Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia?
Realistically you can watch it whenever I think, just keep in mind the grand order stuff is based off the game and it takes place way far into the story
I say watch the first episode (maybe second?) of UBW. Then watch a TH-cam video summarizing the fate route. Then watch the rest of UBW
I watched zero before heavens feel and it honestly just made heavens feel that much better and sadder. Just knowing....:(
But I did start with ubw
you mean ruined it with spoilers and contradiction and what it got at the end was getting kicked out of the canon
Okay but where can I watch heavens feel?
No clue, I saw the first two on not the most legal of sites lol and I saw the third in theaters
@@MrHunteru so they’re in theaters rn?
Yoo found ur channel just now i will subscribe
HELL YEAAAHH, welcome to the squad
Lol as a young ass teen,i dont even think readingly playing V.N's will do me any good because i have constant chore's and school to do and i dont have the adulted time to spend it all anything else especially series's like these but nice video.
