Apologies for the delay in getting this one out. Unlike other videos, I have tackled both UBW and Heaven's Feel at the same time, and this delayed things more than normal (both routes are longer and more detailed than the Fate route). Combined with the ultimate distraction of RE2 remake and Kingdom Hearts 3, I definitely took time to enjoy both those games (sorry but not sorry). Heaven's Feel will be out before the new movie chapter comes out in a few weeks. Thank you for your patience and support.

As someone who's never once watched anything Fate related until today. The reveal of Archer being Shirou got me SHOOKETH, like if I was watching the series for a long time and never saw the plot twist coming.
I refuse to accept the so-called "True Ending" here as the real ending.
Not just because the Good Ending (where Saber stays as Rin's familiar) is much happier. Because it fits better with the theme of the Unlimited Blade Works route - questioning one's ideals - in contrast to the Fate route.
In Fate, Shirou never seriously questions his ideal, and thus neither does Saber. She refuses to stay in the present for reasons that ultimately make sense to Shirou on an ethical level, even though it pains him to lose the girl he loves. They're both inflexibly dedicated to their own personal vision of what they need to be as heroes, even when it conflicts with what they most want for themselves.
In Unlimited Blade Works however, both Shirou and Saber are confronted with an image of what an ideal taken to its conclusions looks like, and how horribly it can turn out. This in turn causes Shirou to reevaluate his ethos, while still keeping the core of it, and it forces Saber to realise she needs to rethink her values entirely; which is why it makes more sense for her to stay.

I had this on in the background. I legitimately did a double take at "If they connect their bodies through sex." I was literally going "wait what?" when the narrator continued nonchalantly to "simultaneous climaxes." I had NO IDEA that was a thing in the Fate series!!! Not complaining. Just..the more you know.

Beautiful. It's always a highlight when you make a post. I'll have to rewatch all of these when all the videos are up, make a marathon of it. Maybe make a playlist for this when it is complete, since the game does split off in different directions? Shirou and Archer being the same person is actually such a fantastic twist. Btw, I just wanted to thank you for making these videos. The visual novel is EXTREMELY long, but I didn’t want to jump into the anime without having experienced it. You did a great job distilling the story and covering all the important beats. Now I can watch Fate/Zero without worrying about spoilers!
Btw, I know you’re more of a gaming channel, but you should do these for other franchises with a high barrier to entry. I’m sure a lot of people would appreciate a series like this for Mobile Suit Gundam, Zeta Gundam, and Gundam ZZ.

*MY WHOLE issue* with Fate series is that Saber is always said to be superb and the strongest, and yet she is depicted almost entirely useless during the events with lots of excuses given for that.
During the original f/sn routes, the general reason she doesn't slaughter the competition is because Shirou literally cannot supply her the mana to be even half as strong as she could be. In ubw, with Rin, she kind of destroys everyone she actually fights
In every route she is summoned by Shirou which badly nerfs her. This isn’t an invalid excuse.
In every route she also gets a power up which reveals her true potential,
In Fate she gets Avalon and defeats Gilgamesh
In UBW she becomes Rin’s servant which raises her stats
In HF she is ridiculously powerful as Saber Alter, who stomps Heracles.
@@Aspirider0220 Yes, Saber does have upgrades and gets some wins, but even after I watched all of Fate anime series, overall Saber is still underdelivering, underperforming. Otherwise, the franchise is great.

I'm sorry for my incomplete ability to explain, but basically I think its to do with how archer is summoned. Because he became an agent of the grail or whatever, he was summoned for some other reason in that time period. The archer that was Rin's servant was the one summoned for the holy grail war specifically. So although that archer was killed, the other version was there to act as a force against chaos. Hopefully someone better versed in the lore can give a better answer!
Independent action is one of Emiya's abilities as a servant. Basically this allows him to not be entirely reliant on the magic of his master. In the other two routes he completely dies. He technically doesn't die to Gilgamesh because he didn't use up all his magic. This allowed him to stay hidden until the moment he shoots Gilgamesh in the head.

@@Noamalmoggg Well remember that Archer had Caster use Rule Breaker on him to break his contract with Rin. During the fight where Gilgamesh attacks Archer it had already been two days since he broke his contract. Independent action allowed him those two days. He was going to disappear, he basically had no time left. If he had come back earlier he wouldn't have been able to save Shirou from Gilgamesh or say goodbye to Rin. His death was never confirmed since Rin didn't have a contract with him and we never saw it fade away. He used the last of his strength to go back into the realm where the holy grail pulled him from. He then waits till the last moment to save them. It's not really explained how he does it, he just does. Most likely has to do with the contract he made with Earth to become a counter guardian.

definitely the best girl in f/sn. the dynamic between rin n shiro is believable, engaging and fun. especially in ubw anime adaptation.

Day three, the one on which Rin confronts Lancer on the school grounds. Although the divergence towards Heaven's Feel is actually contingent on several decisions the player made before that point.

Add prisma illya to the exceptions and I'd agree. F/Sn is pretty pretentious, apoc is just dumb fun, and extra is incredibly pretentious.
