My favorite way to eat these is with a generous squeeze of fresh lemon juice and a sprinkling of powdered sugar. You can add grated lemon zest to the batter if you like it extra lemony.

They're pannekoeken! We have a restaurant in my town called Pannekoeken Huis. The waitresses used to wear fake Dutch costumes and yell "Pannekoeken!" whilst racing from the kitchen with the hot cast iron pan over their head, in order to deliver the goods to table before it collapsed. Too funny. (BTW, the best flavor is apple-cinnamon). It's been years since I've been there, definitely worth another visit!

Probably shouldn't add flour first to the bottom. I made that mistake and all the flour caked in on the bottom and didn't mix well

Thank you very much for the instructions for mixing the batter manually. As it’s difficult to equip myself with all kinds of machines such as a blender and a stand mixer due to space constraints in my kitchen, it’s very helpful and very appreciated when you add a little additional tips for non-machine users.

If you want a cooked fruit “topping”, just cook it up with the butter in your skillet on the stove, then pour the batter over it and pop it in the oven. I do this with apples and cinnamon and it’s delish.

  • @SaschiaSlytherin

Ok i'm confused. Some dutch in the chat said he doesnt know it AND in the video its said that the name comes from someone mispronouncing "deutsch" for "dutch". Deutsch is german soooo.... as a german i know that our Pfannenkuchen (pancakes) are not as thick as americans and not as thin like crepes. But a german pancake also does not look like that. You basicly make it the same way as an american pancake. The main difference is just the butter.
BUT Afterwards we do top it with froots, pouder sugar or savory stuff.
It just does not have that strange ritual with the pan and doesnt go up
