I love that you always tell us the metric measurements too. Helps us in England! Absolutely love your channel. I will absolutely be making these and the carrot cake soon for the family xx
this is such a great move from him, to give the ingredients also in grams! I live in Europe and I'm considering to buy his books for this very reason. (also his recipes are great)
Same, I find it super calming to watch a preppy kitchen video just before I go to sleep, even tho most of the time I'm left drooling over whatever you were making 😂🤦
OMG I’m so throwing my diet out the window! Between these and the chocolate carrot 🥕 cake… This looks absolutely delicious 😋 Can’t wait to make them!! Thank you John!!!! 💖
If this video was a tactic to get me to buy the new book, it totally worked! This was amazing. The best dessert I've ever had! I'm making it again so I can bring it to a party tomorrow and I'm so excited to share it.
Thank you so so much for making your cookbook available on kindle. As someone who is visually impaired, I would love to have the hardcover copy but I would have a very hard time reading it. Being able to put it on my iPad on the Kindle app makes life so much more convenient!
A big win John's channel has over many other cooking TH-camrs is the fact he always lists the ingredients by weight, which makes his recipes SO reliable. Thank you John! 🫶
So I made this recipe and want to make a couple suggestions. I actually made a giant version of this in one of those cylinder dishes that sit on a pedestal (forget what it’s called). You can definitely add a lot more whiskey/bourbon if you want a real zing of flavor. I personally feel like the amount suggested in the recipe is just an enhancement and the flavor outcome would be negligible. I love Preppy Kitchen and respect him, so this is just a *personal preference* and no disrespect or shade on him :) Also, if I make it again I think I will add layers of a very light spongey cake layers of a neutral/vanilla cake. I’m not a cake person, but I feel like with this recipe it would add a little textural interest.
Thanks so much for this video. I've been trying for years to get my pudding thick. Your video finally helped me make that happen. Caramel was a little off bit practice makes perfect.
I have never been a banana pudding fan…until now! I totally want to make this AND eat it! Caramel, bourbon, Biscoff cookies and REAL bananas?!? Yes, please!
Your new cooking book is great! Making the Banana Pudding tonight for Sunday's treat. Also, your pie crusts recipe are spot on. Love your videos! Keep them coming. You make cooking enjoyable and delicious.
So much for originality. This is similar to the way I make my banana pie/pudding. Yours is more complex than mine was as I cheat and use Mrs. Robertson s caramel sauce from the grocery. The caramel takes it over the top. Great minds and all that. Looking forward to your book.
I love the way you explain things. Like what the cornstarch is for and why you shouldn't use too much. You don't just tell us what to use and how much but what it does and why it's important. I very much enjoy your videos!
Your recipes are beautiful but this one is by far the most awe inspiring of all. I can almost taste how decadent that desert is. I’m definitely going to be buying your cook book.
Just ordered the book which will be available in Germany on my Birthday 🎂🎂🎂🎉🎉🎉🎉 juhuuuuu, can't wait to receive it! Thanks for your beautiful sharing, dear John! We love your treats and your charming smile 😊
You're goooooood, trust me. I hate banana pudding. Loathe. Not one morsel shall I volunteer to try, and then here comes you. My husband loves banana pudding, and I'm willing to try making this recipe. Personally, your sugar cookies are a huge hit here. I prefer the vanilla with almond icing. I've mixed four batches of it "for the freezer" (yeah right), and your chocolate chip cookie recipe is amazing. You really need to put warning labels on your recipes because I'm gaining a few pounds here. Thank you for all of the fabulous recipes.
By leaving the minor mistakes in the video, like over weighing the sugar, John teaches us a good lesson about scales. Way to go. It also makes you that much more relatable.
I used this recipe for this Thanksgiving, it's my first time bringing something cuz I'm young but at the age now where it seems reasonable to bring something, but I've been big into cooking for a while now, so I used a very slightly tweeked version of this, came out amazing, I made a big pan of it, and out of the dozen or so deserts that everyone brought i think mine was the one that was almost entirely gone by the end of it, so thanks👌😁
I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but this was one of my favorite desserts as a kid! I never liked donuts or pastries, but I like this and tiramisu. I will have to try to make your version, as soon as I lose a few pounds!
I make a caramelized banana pudding too, it’s a special for the holidays. But your recipe is wayyy above mine and I can’t wait to try it! Edit: The addition of Bourbon is brilliant.
John: Making pudding is so easy, you don't need a mix. Also John: Uses multiple pans, multiple bowls, multiple utensils, multiple horror stories about how you can have a disaster. I may try the recipe but only on a stress-free Saturday for my own family.
Interesting recipe. One of my Grandmothers made Caramelized Banana Pudding that was completely different- She would take sliced Bananas & Butter and cook the Bananas in a skillet until the were caramelizing and then add them into the pudding.
Are you going to come out with a new cookbook ( PLEASE ) ? I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A COOKBOOK WITH THE OLD RECIPES AS WILL . LOVE YOUR RECIPES AND YOUR TASTE OF KITCHEN TOOLS THANK YOU FOR ALL RECIPES AND A LOOK IN TO YOUR FAMILY LIFE YOU HAVE BEAUTIFUL FAMILY
Try adding an Arabic translation, I follow you from Saudi Arabia, a wonderful channel and I will tell you about the best Arabic sweets and food and you will love it.
I’ve tempered eggs just once, and I didn’t do it well, the eggs scrambled. Since then I add them before I start cooking the filling/pudding and I’ve never had a problem, been doing it that way over 60 years, my Mom and Grandma did the same. Banana pudding is so delicious, and here in Texas almost every BBQ restaurant has it on the menu. 🤗
This is incredibly sad, but I had no idea you can make pudding from scratch. I thought it was only from a box. My mom used to be a baker and we have tons of cooking books in the house, but I guess we don't consume pudding often enough for the question to have ever come up, nor have I come across a recipe for it...until now! I learned something new, so thank you! I also love that this recipe uses whiskey! I do enjoy the flavor of whiskey and often so many desserts typically use rum or vodka which I do not care for. I've been a fan for awhile..can't wait to get the book!
Oh my gosh, this looks AMAZING! I've pre-ordered your book and I'm SO excited for it to arrive, but I can't wait that long to taste this gorgeous, delicious looking treat - I need to make this TODAY! Off to the store I go to grab some bananas... (Side note: I recently made your german chocolate cake recipe from a few years ago for one of the pickiest, hard to please, "my-mom's-is-the-best-EVER" people I've ever met - and he LOVED IT, raved about it for days! We live in the South, so next up is your Italian Cream Cake...)
Yep, thought the same thing. I've never had the pie but I have used the flavors to create a Banoffee Pavlova. One was made as a double decker. It was SO good... 😋
Looks so yummy! To bad I’m allergic to bananas buttttt I would definitely make this for company, all those flavor ! So delish ! Thanks for all the recipes John , can’t wait for your book to be in my kitchen next week !

John, I made this recipe last night and omg…definently the best banana pudding I’ve ever had. Most definently will be in my desert rotation
how long did the pudding take to make?
I just picked up your cookbook at Northshire Bookstore in Manchester Center, VT.
