Remember listening to this in class and my teacher asked what was in my Discman. I let her borrow it so she could hear it, sadly she was in an accident and her car was totaled. She survived but my CD was lost. She surprised me by buying me another. December was her favorite song and ironically it all happened in December before the holidays.
Got a chance to see them live in concert in Niagara Falls New York. They rocked. An ex boyfriend turned me on to this band. Rest in peace George. I will forever miss and love you.

Ed Roland, The song "December" was written as a reflection of the band's difficult experience with their first manager, capturing feelings of being used and not valued enough. The released emotions were processed but no longer taken advantage of and the band is now highly respected. ❤

Yeah, there's been a bunch of songs I heard when I was little in 90s and 2000s that I forgot about, then one day I happen to hear it and it's like a revelation lol
Them feels man... This was one of the first songs I learned all of the lyrics. Growing up in the 90's without internet to just 'look them up', tells you just how many times I listened to this song back in the day. Love this song and miss the great decade that was the 90s.
We didn't know how good we had it. I can honestly say as much as I hated being a teenager and how awkward I felt it was the last comfortable period of time. Just before the internet showed up.
Collective Soul kicks ass! I recall EARLY 90s “hints allegations and things left unsaid” and thought what an excellent new sound! Bought the CD and didn’t look back. The song “shine” has very deep personal meaning. Thank you Collective soul for an excellent 20 years and counting! Hope to meet the band one day.
Just watched Ed with Rick Beato & Ed got schooled on the "correct" opening sequence of his own song. Two masters with quieted egos that allowed the teacher to correct the originator. A thing of beauty. I always loved December. Check out Rick Beato with Ed. It's pure enlightenment - with a generous dose of humor.
I hit send to fast. BTW I'm 64 and my grown kids don't get it. I get this "Mom, turn it down!" Nope! Play my music loud and proud! It's 2024 now . These songs remind me of my youth and the awesome times I had. We outgrow our young selves but not the music!
A kid when the Beatles blasted over my little transistor radio in 1965, I've heard many great bands come and go, but great songs remain, this bands got a couple of my favorites
Collective soul had so many great songs an memories to go with them, but this song will always remind me of when we lost our youngest sister "Shelley" to vehicle/pedistrian accident ,she was 21 years old going on 22,on June 3rd of 1995.to this day no one's ever been charged in her death,it took me 10yrs to get over her death alot of crying an heartbreak could never bring her back, they say time is a healer thank you dear lord for the power of music an the power of prayer,to help a person get thru even the most toughest hardest of time's,I know my youngest sister would want us to carry on in life,an create new memories, everyone out there your more than welcome to share your comments🙂
Marlon- I know your heartache and I am so sorry for your pain. I lost my baby sister too, July 8, 2019. She was only 47 for 6 weeks. Cancer took her from us. She was a magical soul. She left behind so many that love and miss her every single day, including two young sons. For me, it feels like I miss her every minute!!! I’m scared to think I’ll still hurt this much in ten years. Like you said, our sisters wouldn’t want that, they’d want us to go on and be happy. I know that with all of my heart. My sister was so loving and giving. I feel your hurt even though it was 1995. Based on her age, she was the same age as my only other sister, the youngest in our family. Ironically, my only daughter was born 2 months after you lost your sister. Life is a fragile circle. So very fleeting. I can tell you hold on to all of the precious memories. I’m sure by now our sisters spirits have connected. May you feel a little peace in your heart today. Hugs from afar.🤗😇😇☮️💟🛐🕊🦋🌈🌹🕯
I'm so sorry you lost your sister that way. I lost my brother at 26 in a car accident so I know it's hard to deal with. I try to do things he would've enjoyed but didn't get the chance to
One of the best 90s bands ever. My husband took me to see them at an Oroville casino and it was the best concert I’ve ever seen. Those guys were spot on. The last Song they sang was Shine.
@Franklin Zappa I was also born in 1963, but I've come to the conclusion that the 90s were actually the greatest musical generation. I love the music of the 60s and 70s. But, I think that by the 90s there were so many influences to draw on and many bands were picking disparate sources they liked and combining them in really interesting ways. And I think that the combination of world weary cynicism, heart felt angst, and humor that was so much part of 90s music is a particularly good combination. Also, partly it was because the economy was good and downloading had yet to prove the completely moral bankruptcy of the general public, so there was riskable cash and the labels were willing to throw anything at the wall and see if it stuck. That's really how it should be, but it can only happen when times are good. And that's probably not going to ever happen again. The economy will cycle back up at various points but the public isn't going to suddenly grow a conscience and start actually paying for music at it's actual value to their lives.
If you didn’t put in the effort to find the good, independent, and experimental music of the 00’s and 10’s then it’s easy to see how you’d think music had already peaked by then. However, as someone born in ‘89, I can comfortably say that the best music is being made in the modern era. We built upon the psych foundation laid by you all in the 60’s and knew where to take it next. The next generation will continue doing the same. To hell with this notion that the best music has already happened.
@@BroadcastsFromPoorFarm You are missing the point. The fact that some folks are doing something in their bedrooms and posting it to TH-cam where the probably get a few hundred views or some such, is not the same thing. I think it's great folks are doing it, but the fast majority of people will not dig, sadly. Back then a shovel wasn't required, and that completely changes things.

I was 11 years old when I saw this band perform live. My babysitter took me to the X Fest in 1999. It shaped my music tastes, and 25 years later, I'm still rocking out. This was and still is the coolest sound I've ever heard. ❤
@paulmcfarland8668 My mom allowed me to go. 😆 The only time I got in trouble for going to a concert was when I momentarily borrowed her car in 2004 or 2005. That was the only one she kept me from going to. 😆

@@UniquelyBarb YA, BETTER TIMES FOR SURE.
I was a little kid when I first heard this song I'm pretty sure. It certainly screams the vibe of my early childhood. I miss those days.
This is definitely one the most criminally underrated song of the 90’s
Wow! Haven't heard this in years! I used to spend all night rocking out to this cd and others. Great times. I want the 90's back!!!!!!!!!!
I want time back period. We were robbed and deceived.
To me, the most iconic guitar intro ever. It sends me straight back in time
Got a chance to see them live in concert in Niagara Falls New York. They rocked. An ex boyfriend turned me on to this band. Rest in peace George. I will forever miss and love you.
Up at 5a.m. blasting 90s tunes to go back to bed but instead getting major memory melancholy..aww lost so many great people. Cheers whoever else is in the boat
37 years old and still pumping this. Never gets old!
🤘 🤘

Yes I have.
Same here!
Big brother introduced them to me when i was about 9.. Riding shotgun on a road trip with him..Florida to Boston... Still think of him every time. Miss u bro. R.I.P.
memories are great to have brother. Keep him alive through this song.. a great song, it is. Sorry for your loss. That feeling is an unexplainable one.
How'd he die
Fibromyalgia.
Hugh Mungus wow. Crazy.
Green Man Yeah. Didn't know he had it.
I had every one of Collective Soul's CD's. The last great rock and roll band!
This was mine and my youngest son’s favorite song…I lost him 3 years ago 😢 and I still remember him singing this song and we would crank up the sound so everyone could hear
😔 I’m sorry mamma
I am so so sorry for your loss ❤ May Your Memories bring you Comfort 💟🙏
Blessings and love to you.
When two people both sing different lyrics at the same time it makes the song more interesting.
This is the perfect song for December in December ❄️
Ed Roland, The song "December" was written as a reflection of the band's difficult experience with their first manager, capturing feelings of being used and not valued enough. The released emotions were processed but no longer taken advantage of and the band is now highly respected. ❤
Grew up in the 80's and early 90's. What a great time for music!
bon in63 . grew up with my older brother in Vietnam. learned muisc at his and my dad's(ww2 vet , 6 year's combat) knee. my dad really liked creedence (CCR) my mom was a hard case even in the 40's and50 's
I love when I come across songs like this that I forgot existed but soon as the chorus hits I sing it like I have been hearing it for years 🤣😂🤣😂
That was me driving earlier today when this came on. Must have heard it hundreds of times in the 90s but today was when I really listened to it.
Yeah, there's been a bunch of songs I heard when I was little in 90s and 2000s that I forgot about, then one day I happen to hear it and it's like a revelation lol
I was just in school and popped this on, and all the memories of road trips with dad came back to me.
Exactly!
I couldn't agree more...
This song was a huge hit for these guys. It was constantly on the radio.
La true
One of the greatest songs... EVER
Great music will never fade! Great band.

Its (just about) that time of year, 2024!
This song never gets old, my friends !!
takes me back to my twenties… evokes much fond nostalgia
Them feels man... This was one of the first songs I learned all of the lyrics. Growing up in the 90's without internet to just 'look them up', tells you just how many times I listened to this song back in the day. Love this song and miss the great decade that was the 90s.
Have you been saved by putting your trust in Jesus?
We didn't know how good we had it. I can honestly say as much as I hated being a teenager and how awkward I felt it was the last comfortable period of time. Just before the internet showed up.
Well, I used to rewind my tapes using a pen. Do you guys know what this is? lol!
Them good ol'times.
Song jams
Was in 5th grade ha
Good times
90s we’re the best
Collective Soul kicks ass! I recall EARLY 90s “hints allegations and things left unsaid” and thought what an excellent new sound! Bought the CD and didn’t look back. The song “shine” has very deep personal meaning. Thank you Collective soul for an excellent 20 years and counting! Hope to meet the band one day.

You know you're doing something right when your kids are in the back seat signing Collectic Soul!

Spot on.
I'm one of those kids!28 and love this band!!!!
yup

Love this jam!
Rick has some great interviews.
Why drink the water from my hand Contagious as you think I am…all the lyrics to this sing are superb.
I'm leaving this comment here so when someone likes it, I will be reminded of this masterpiece...
Left you a like 👍
Me too :) Only song from Collective Soul that I personally really like, but it does the trick.
I am here. to Remind you

I try to do things he would've enjoyed but didn't get the chance to
im an 80's guy, but man, f.....g love this song!
Pretty much every song they released in the 90s reminds me of my childhood and my late sister. Their music just makes me feel good!
Amazing songs from this Band! My fave is Shine! I’m fortunate to have grown up listening to the 70,80 90s greatest songs greatest bands have played!
Most underrated 90s rock song period. Thank you collective soul
One of the best 90s bands ever. My husband took me to see them at an Oroville casino and it was the best concert I’ve ever seen. Those guys were spot on. The last Song they sang was Shine.
COME ON AND SHINE!
Born in 1957, grew up with the greatest music ever made. I salute the last generation that grew up on real music.
Franklin Zappa i was born in 2000 but my fathers from 1964 so i grew up on everything you guys had. Im ashamed of music nowadays
Man 1963 to mid from 69 to 90s people make real music!
This is just one cool ass song I've been listening to for 33 years now
61, still dancing😊
The 1990s were the best decade for music. There will never ever be another 90's.This is one of my favorite songs of the 1990s.I get chills everything I hear it.A true 90's classic from a truly great band.Collective Soul plays rock like it was meant to be played. One of the greatest bands ever.
I love the 90s, but 70s and 80s were the best. Only the to the mid 90s was good.
Omg, I'm right back in 95....my senior year of highschool/freshman year of college....all of the memories just came flooding back! If you are my age, we were so lucky to have experienced the 90s as teens!!! This music is still hot! 😉
54yrs of Age and Still Rockin' To This Great '90s Hit!!!
I was 11 years old when I saw this band perform live. My babysitter took me to the X Fest in 1999. It shaped my music tastes, and 25 years later, I'm still rocking out. This was and still is the coolest sound I've ever heard. ❤
That's a good babysitter 😂
Your parents find out?
@paulmcfarland8668 My mom allowed me to go. 😆 The only time I got in trouble for going to a concert was when I momentarily borrowed her car in 2004 or 2005. That was the only one she kept me from going to. 😆
They are still amazing in concert!
I'm going to see them for the first time next year
I m 71 this should be a billion views and Despacito should be 3. No justice.
Despacito at #3? It's average music combined with a lava-hot babe. Big deal.
Highly underrated band.
This song popped up in my head this morning. Had to come listen ❤ This was on the radio often when I was a kid. Good times
