You guys might be taking Luke Munro’s comment and the lyrics out of context? Slave to the money then you die, I believe, means we all have to earn money to meet even our basic needs...no money means no food, no shelter, etc., you work your whole life to earn cause you have no choice therefore the slave part....and the, then you die part, is you gotta do it your whole life! Now the part you have control over is how hard or long are you willing to work for stuff you dont actually need...you know, the toys...the hot car, big house, etc., the older you get or the poorer you are, the more apparent this becomes. So, yes Luke Munro , I agree very true words! A sadder sentiment is those who actually believe, he with the most toys wins....you can’t take it with you when you die baby! Either way this is a great song!💜

This was the first song that spoke to me on that deep, spiritual level that reminds you you’re human and only here for a brief, wild ride. I was 15 years old and it still feels exactly the same.
I’ll never forget, I was a sophomore in college in ‘97 and saved up to travel through Europe on the Christmas break. I was staying in a crappy hostel in Verona, Italy, watching the whatever was on TV and this video was playing. Sounds dramatic but one of the most memorable times in my life. I think I walked down the streets like Richard for a couple days
You actually LIVED! That's a picture, and that's living life to the fullest! In the end...we only have those moments to reflect on. All those moments are yours and yours alone. Savor them. Use them. Keep those moments next to your heart. Share them with love. When the end comes, you can say you truly lived life!
I just wanted to say I'm proud of the best way to illustrate how to walk down your typical sidewalk with genuine purpose and by the end of his walk he has a billion views and a posse of other people that got your back in 2024 this is a great day to be alive.
I hope you can help preserve those memories and share them. This world looks like it's going to get pretty grim, and remembering the good times will be a boon.
@@huskysharky9025 actually no, society is going to shit and it's only getting worse. A few months ago, i heard a 94 year old WW2 vet ask, is THIS the country I fought for? It was sad to hear him ask that. it was his dad that asked that, rather, now that I remember as we were talking.
I was born in Manchester where the verve are from. I had a wild night out and sang this in the back of a taxi in Manchester city center. A few days later, I was in Guadalajara, Mexico returning from my wife's family home, and this song came on, and we all sang it. Small world, innit?
I am. I was 22 when this was iconic song was on regular radio play. It's like Ecclesiastes 1:1-11 put to a 90s British rock beat. This song was played daily on The Rush Limbaugh Show. This is what 90s music embodies. Honest and raw, always with purpose full of angst and disappointment mixed with joy and great expectations.
Especially including the strings,The very great sounding song's instrumentation are excellent;Pretty much very near perfect. The verve frontman sings and perfroms both in recording and in the video as to how the music video for Bitter Sweet Smpnony was composed and as to how it was shot excellently.I love coming back to enjoy hearing this very great song time and time again and always will.❤

This song got me through some rough times and helped me realise that life does suck, but only if you let it suck. Nothing has made me feel the way I did when I heard the words "I need to hear the sounds that recognise the pain in me", it's a true masterpiece. Thank you Richard Ashcroft
The greatest "feeling" is to know that God loves you and that you can spend eternal life with God. I am sixty six and done it all. It is never enough. Jesus Christ is the ONLY thing that truly brings REAL contentment. God bless, Michael

Search what i did, BIBLE + FREEMASONRY, and no longer a mason you want to be. Cause then you`ll see how wicked you shall be under the lie of being illuminated. Then you`ll see and hopefully understand also how sick rituals masons do. Baphomet servers wont be in heaven. No Christian is illuminated nor called to be one. We are simply souls, who have came to repentance, changed our minds and our hearts. Admit that we are sinners beyond being able to help our own selves. Deeply evil, knowing how to do evil rather then good. We seek´t out the truth, cause the off vibes this realm give us and not being satisfied with lies. We repented, cause we felt awfully about our own sinful nature, being able to do evil 24/7/365. Christians is not a illuminated souls, we are just souls who miss home. Missing home that badly the we counted the cost of following CHRIST and to walk on that narrow path into heaven. The cost of following CHRIST? - giving up our lives here on this earth, as CHRIST did for us. If it come to it, and it shall come to it, we are willing to be beheaded. So? - Are you that brave (foolish in the eyes of this world) soul or are you a coward who hides in the enemies lines? Why were schools and working places created? to produce slaves. Slaves who: - think nor question not, no matter their age, race, culture background, beliefs. Masons wanted generations of slaves, and they got their wish. And, we, the people, lost the right to debate and complain about, humans were once slaves and all the made up problems between black and white skinned humans. Why? , cause we are still SLAVES. Slaving away our time - health - life. Slaving it all away to whom? - to the uncaring governments. Why masons give us the "freedom" to believe whatever we want and live how we want? - to keep us, their slaves, blind and deaf.

The message of the lyrics is as impactful as that of the music. The contrast of the violins with the somewhat sad song is impressive. I think it reminds us that the human being brings within himself an aspiration towards spiritual transcendence towards the supreme good, but due to the limitations of his material needs, he ends up not achieving what he longs for and comforts himself by accepting himself,,,

‘Slave to money then you die’ no truer words have ever been spoken
@@debbieglennie3430 Well said. We need to learn to enjoy life more in ways that dont always involve money/purchases.

This was the first song that spoke to me on that deep, spiritual level that reminds you you’re human and only here for a brief, wild ride. I was 15 years old and it still feels exactly the same.
This give me that vibe that I'm reflecting on life and the hard and bad decisions I made in my life

I agree ❤ and always listening to this 🎉
I’ll never forget, I was a sophomore in college in ‘97 and saved up to travel through Europe on the Christmas break. I was staying in a crappy hostel in Verona, Italy, watching the whatever was on TV and this video was playing. Sounds dramatic but one of the most memorable times in my life. I think I walked down the streets like Richard for a couple days
I think we all have done this at a point in our lives. Nostalgia is the epitome bittersweet symphony called life
Doesn't sound dramatic, but it is and it's cool. I don't what music of today will stand out 30 years from now, but the 90's had a lot to offer.
Nostalgic
You actually LIVED! That's a picture, and that's living life to the fullest!
In the end...we only have those moments to reflect on. All those moments are yours and yours alone. Savor them. Use them. Keep those moments next to your heart. Share them with love.
When the end comes, you can say you truly lived life!
Come back 90's music! My old friend.
Totally agree =)

The verve frontman sings and perfroms both in recording and in the video as to how the music video for Bitter Sweet Smpnony was composed and as to how it was shot excellently.I love coming back to enjoy hearing this very great song time and time again and always will.❤
i remember listening to this song when i was in a dead job, getting paid weak money and going absolutely nowhere in life. This song got me through some rough times and helped me realise that life does suck, but only if you let it suck. I was listening to this song everyday and each time I heard it I'd cry a little bit inside. Nothing has made me feel the way I did when I heard the words "I need to hear the sounds that recognise the pain in me", it's a true masterpiece. Thank you Richard Ashcroft
yes brotha i totally feel you and that line and a few others bear the most important meanings to me as well
The greatest "feeling" is to know that God loves you and that you can spend eternal life with God. I am sixty six and done it all. It is never enough. Jesus Christ is the ONLY thing that truly brings REAL contentment.

@@absxxproductions9172 There is nothing cool nor okay, being a mason - soul, these are the biggest liars cause they are deceived the deepest.
Slaves who:
- think nor question not, no matter their age, race, culture background, beliefs.
Hell yeah
Yes yes yes
So true.

About time!!!
I'm at a point in life where I feel exactly like him in the video , the world is crazy, superficial connections, nothing's real.. walking through it all while trying to keep hope in the midst of all this insanity people created.. recognizing pain and beauty of life at the same time.. I like how he walks as though people around him don't even exist in his life.
I love this and I have heard this hundreds of times never get bored
I never viewed the video like that. The world is flooding towards him and he's barging through it to carry on walking. Just like life, there's not much of a pause. Thank you
Exactly the same for me, after all these years listening to it, the real meaning hit me with goosebumps. I've been questioning a lot of things recently and this song reflect some of those thoughts.

SO fkn true!!!!
Tried doing this earlier today in the hood, im laterally writing this from heaven. All i hear is a Bitter sweet symphony
