    Holy shit, I have watched every YT lubing video for U4s that i have and the ping sound inside the switch didnt dissapear after lubing them. Even after the „Gazzew way” or any other. It was a nightmare to have a switch and clearly hear that awful ping cause its a silent. You are the first person who recommended putting the permatex inside the leaf and omg finally i am satisfied with the result :D
    Also, I have already noticed by myselft that Gazzew springs are overprised garbage and if use a 65g version on control keys, than lubed stabs will stuck cause springs are too weak. I will definitely spring swap the U4 with long 70g and 80g for spacebar.

    Love the video! well you got a good point there swapping springs make a huge different well base on personal pref. i come from clicky unlube, from durock t1 lubbed (no legs lube) indeed, and i got a new board this week wich i choose for a first a linear switch. may not be the best but it came with TTC Gold Pink, and i didnt really like its about 43g of force and after lubbing my whole sets i did found some 2 stage springs set 58g and omg the sound has changed, the feel is freaking awesome and honesly I don't hate tactile either clicky but i think i really appreciate linear much more now. ;) u dont like a certain switch mod it, change a spring, lube different Even doing some mixes with others switches can do the trick. !

    T1s I found way too tactile and heavy so Im glad you highlighted that. I feel like I have seen other comparisons that put T1s in the mid range. Where I have found them to be heavier than Bobas and most other medium switches. I would say with a heavier switch, it may actually be preferable to lube the stem bump if you are using a lighter lube like tribosys.
    It may be pushing the boundary of budget, but I have found TTC Blueish White and Tecsee Purple Pandas to be really good tactiles that arent too heavy, but not insignificant like browns.

    • @coleydotmp4
      @coleydotmp4  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very true! I think that there's a lot of options out there, but these felt like the best price to intense tactility ratio switch i could think of. Heavy tactility isnt for everyone - myself included!

    I may do a silly thing and put T1 stems into a Gateron housing.
    Also, this is the first time I've heard of using dielectric grease, or any lube, on contact leaves. That's acc very helpful and may solve my big issue with these switches!

  • @ianbuschbacher9232

    Overall really good video, its great to see some budget tactile alternatives besides Akko or Mx brown. Although regarding the comparison to other tactiles, I found that to be a bit off putting. By no means am I an expert and I’ve personally only built a couple keyboards and tried a handful of switches. But from what’ve learned, koalas are just t1 recolors and there is slight difference between the two. And then secondly, when comparing the tactility between switches, it would make sense to use to the same spring and keep them in the same condition whether thats stock or lubed, to maintain an equal comparison. Gotta reiterate though that your content is really great and am looking forward to your next video, keep it up!

    I think tactility is not really affected by the spring weight. It's the bump that I consider most when feeling tactiles. I get that swapping the spring into something heavier can make the switch feel better but not necessarily its tactility. I do like it on the heavier side too, though.

    I got them a few weeks ago, 28€ for 90 switches (even tho they have a pc top), wish i found out about them earlier! In my experience u4ts are funkier but the price... Yeah...
    I also believe spring would change the tactile experience drastically, i haven't tried it yet but my next build will definitely have some heavy tactiles with 72g 3 stage lumia springs! The fun part? I actually have weak fingers, yet somehow i started loving heavy tactiles and can't even get back to linears anymore :D

    • @nonnegaard
      @nonnegaard 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lighter springs will put heavier emphasis on the tactile bump. The "drop" will feel larger as your finger will travel further with more ease after the bump. This is why ergo Clears are so popular, as the stem is really nice when you can actually feel it. Try putting heavy springs in Browns or Pewters, and they'll feel linear.

    Is it possible to make aluminum boards like the bakeneko 65 as deep sounding as a plastic board because i want the premium feel and weight from an aluminum board but the sound deep sound signature from a plastic board

    • @holykeebs6770
      @holykeebs6770 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      PE foam, tape mod, and foam (Goka foam) help with this to make it sound deep. It also depends on the switches you choose and the plate. For deeper sounding plate, you want polycarbonate.

      @@coleydotmp4 In terms of tactility I'd say that the aflion panda stems have little difference to the the jwick t1 stems, with the jwick t1 stems being slightly more tactile. In terms of feel, the alfion panda stems being long pole makes for a very quick bottom out after the tactile bump in the t1 housings, making these switch feel very snappy (which I really enjoy). In terms of sound, well being long poles, the aflion pandas are quite clackier than the t1 stems. All together though the jwick t1 housings with aflion panda stems and 62g ds springs makes for the snappiest/most tactile switch I have ever used.

    Hey Coley again. I need another switch recommendation. I'm on the zoom65 groupbuy, if you don't know the zoom is known for a very creamy sound signiture like the epoch because of the layers of foam. Do you know any "creamy" linear switches that might go along?

    • @coleydotmp4

      Yeah!
      I just got a batch of invokeys Matcha Lattes - the factory lubing is fantastic. They go in and out of stock but if you join their discord, you should be notified when they come back in stock. the factory lubing blew me away! Seriously need to make a video about them.
      Other than that, gat oil kings have the smoothness of CJ's but a deeper, creamier sound. Gazzew LT (linear thocks). There's also Popu switches on elboard (OP black recolors) that are gonna sound creamy and poppy. A classic "creamy" switch is a lubed alpaca (if you like the sound of NK creams but dont want the scratchiness). Ultra budget-wise, lubed KTT switches like mints would be good, though they are a bit clackier, they're really smooth. I would avoid switches with a really clear top housing, that usually results in a clacky upstroke.
